They were salty, crunchy, sweet, just perfection. The wrap was pretty boring, the lime vinaigrette it came with wasn't my favorite - it was light and added some flavor to an otherwise bland wrap. The rose amatriciana had more bacon than pasta...which was very overpowering. The black and blue Brussels were also heavy on the bacon, and by the time I got to the pear Cobb, I was sick of bacon. The pasta dish had rigatoni, bacon, caramelized onions, roasted red peppers and creamy spicy red sauce topped with parmesan cheese & basil. Great flavors, a touch of heat with the sweetness of the veggies. The fresh basil contrasted the smoky salty bacon really well too. Great dish. And the salad had MORE crispy bacon, roasted butternut squash, black beans, red onions, avocado, egg, pepper jack cheese, cilantro & sunflower seeds with spicy chipotle ranch and I also got some lime vinaigrette dressing on the side. Based on a glowing personal recommendation, we chose this spot for a holiday dinner with long-time friends. The ambiance is warm and casual and the servers were friendly. They had an impressive holiday cocktail selection (mostly dessert cocktails) and their menu looked really impressive. We ordered some drinks, the Korean Brussels sprouts and the spinach dip to start. The drinks all arrived separately, one after another (which was a bit odd), as did the apps. The Crispy Korean Brussels were AMAZING - like lick-the-plate good, but the spinach dip was almost laughable: a melted block of cheese with few spinach leaves swirled in, with a handful of tortilla chips and some stale crostini.... Flavorless and terribly disappointing. Two of us ordered the French Pantry sandwiches with sweet potato fries - the sandwiches were dry and flavorless, but the fries were great. The Quinoa bowl was good, but the salmon portion was small based on the up-charge for adding it. We also ordered the Perfect Pear salad which was probably the best of all our entrees. I went to the perfect pear bistro for lunch this week. It was my first time and I got there in time to get the last parking space! They have a fair amount of parking but nonetheless, it does fill up. Once inside, I was greeted by a friendly host, and given an option for an indoor or outdoor table. I opted for indoors only because it was a little bit chilly. The server was at our table right away. He was friendly and when I asked him about some of the more popular options on the menu, he offered suggestions readily. we opted for a ginger vegetable bowl with shrimp and a grilled cheese sandwich with fries. Our food was served very promptly. And, I was shocked at the size of the proportion! My vegetable quinoa bowl with ginger was enormous. As I dug through the bowl, it was pretty much made up of deep fried brussel sprouts. They weren't bad, but there were so many of them to the exclusion of many other vegetables. There were a few pieces of zucchini, bits of spinach and a few carrots and maybe three shrimp. The place gets great reviews and this may be a one off so I will try it again, but I definitely will order differently. read more

Went for dinner before seeing a show at the Gammage. First time here and I will definitely be back! I had the mushroom grilled cheese sandwich with the seasonal watermelon salad...delicious! Not knowing that is how I ended up alone for dinner, but what could have turned into a pity party ended up being a very nice meal. It has a very relaxed atmosphere - earthy paint tones, cafe furniture, a nice little bar. I was cheerily greeted and seated at a four top until I discovered my friends all went to the other Perfect Pear Bistro in Tempe. Having no way to get there in any reasonable time as I had walked here I elected to stay and finish my meal as I had already ordered drinks. I then moved to the bar to free up the table. The waitstaff were truly gems of people offering help to relocate my stuff and then just being great company. I ordered the Pacos Tacos minus avocado and pico and was pleasantly surprised at how filling they were. The price point at Perfect Pear is fantastic - I felt like I got a bargain! Big chunky pieces of chicken with plenty of sprouts and a nice cream sauce. I found them so filling that I didn't eat much of the black beans but I thought they were very tasty! I ordered a few cocktails and found each one of them to be amazing! They were all balanced and delicious! I noticed that they had a seasonal menu headings so I imagine that with each season new cocktails grace the cover but with a full bar favorites aren't far to be found! I have eaten at this little gem of a restaurant in downtown Tempe three times in the last three months. I love the food. It's a great value and it's the perfect place to go to before an event at the Tempe Center for the Arts. I would give them a five star review however the whole restaurant needs a big deep clean. As I ate my dinner, I worried a chunk of the dirt on the ceiling fan blades above me was going to fall off into my dinner. I won't even eat in the patio because the whole thing needs to be power washed. I'll go back but I sure hope the owners give it a little TLC soon! read more

I ordered a quinoa bowl with garlic lemon sauce. it took about 30 minutes to get. A couple bites into it, I realized is was so salty it was inedible. By the time we saw our waitress again I told her how extremely salty it was. She said yes, she had other complaints. I asked her if she told the manager or chef and she did not. She asked if I wanted to try something else. I told her we were running late, I'll try mixing their cabbage slaw with it. She brought me a salad dressing cup of about 2 tablespoons of shredded cabbage and left. By the time she returned I asked to talk to the manager. He offered to comp the meal that was inedible, and handed me a $5 coupon for the hours time of sitting there watching my husband eat a sandwich (I'm gluten free so couldn't eat it) while I didn't get anything but a few bites of mine. We got the combo- half salad and half pasta and we got the chicken club sandwich with sweet potato fries. They were all cooked and seasoned well and tasted so so good! The ingredients in the salad were really fresh and loved the lime vinaigrette. The creamy mushroom Marsala pasta was okay, wish it had more flavor to it. I've been to this place a few times and I still want to go back! The first time was with my friend to celebrate my birthday. I tried their curry quinoa bowl, and it was very delicious. I am still thinking about it and want to search for similar recipes so I can make them at home. The inside of the restaurant looks small but cozy. The second time that I went there was after graduation, I was with my partner and puppy. We sat on their patio, which was very cute with a lot of shades, plants, and mist. I had this spot bookmarked for a while and finally got to visit. I'm not a fan of pears so I knew I wanted to avoid anything that had them, which obviously is a good portion of the menu haha. I knew I wanted a salad, so I ordered the Baja Lime which has black beans, roasted red peppers, red onions, avocado, cucumbers, cilantro, feta cheese & quinoa and tossed with a lime vinaigrette. I added chicken for $3.50. The salad was large and I had enough to take home for a second lunch. The one thing I didn't like was that the chicken was dry, but there was plenty of it for the price point and some of it was moist from the dressing. They prepare the food well, and service is always friendly and attentive. Great staff all round, nice outside patio, and plenty of seating inside as well, or at the bar. On this visit, I shared the Black & Blue Brussels as the appetizer. These are definitely the best Brussels dish, because they cook them until they are crispy, and they don't skimp on the bacon or cheese, I substituted goat cheese for blue, because I am not a fan of blue cheese. Then for dinner I had the perfectly grilled cheese and a half size of their La Lucy salad. Their portions on entrees, apps, and salads are very generous. This is why I got a half salad, and it was plenty. Previously I've had the Chicken Pesto Sandwich, Sweet Potato Fries, and Wild Chop Salad. Their sweet potato fries are SUPER GOOD.
