I have been taking Pilates classes for close to a year off and on. I frequent a place in Lakewood…read morewhere I feel like I'm mostly on my game there. Now in walks Bodybar Pilates and I feel like Mr. Pilates is on drugs. This ish is more challenging than what I'm used to. Oof! I sighed up for the free introductory class and attended one night after work. The process to check in was easy and the young girls working gave me the lowdown on the place and sent me off to workout. I did the classic Pilates class with Diane. She knew I was a newbie so she showed me how to adjust the reformer and tips for the class and she checked on me often to see if I was hanging in. The workout was pretty fast paced and I hung for most of it and took small breaks when needed. I haven't had a good workout like that in a long time. Flash forward to a month later and I am a member. Surprisingly this uptown location is cheaper than my place in Lakewood. You can book all your classes on the app. I haven't tried anything other than the classic, but will definitely branch out. There is free parking in the parking garage to the left of Pilates. Pay attention or you'll miss it. It's confusing too because there is an apartment attached to the garage so you may get stuck on a floor where you'll end up walking up a ramp. That would only happen to me I'm sure though. Otherwise find street parking! When you walk in you will check in to class on the iPad. Then set your belongings in the cubbies. Bring your grip socks and be prepared to crush it (at your own speed) for 50 minutes.

Just finished an introductory reformer class at Body Bar and it was excellent! Probably the best…read morePilates class I've had in the metro so far. Instructor was clear, helpful, gave plenty of modifications and kept up a good pace throughout. She worked abs, upper body and lower body in a quick 60minutes and I feel awesome. Would definitely be a regular if I lived closer to this studio.

I know this is a lengthy review but if you're thinking of getting your hair cut here i recommend…read moregiving it a read. I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at this salon. I received a haircut as a Mother's Day gift, and it was the worst salon experience I have ever had. During the haircut with Annette, over three inches of my hair was cut off, despite my explicit request to maintain the length. I asked for fluffy, face-framing with lots of layers, but the result was nothing like the inspiration photos I provided. As this was my first haircut in eight years at an actual salon, I was very upset. I cried on the way home and spent my Mother's Day extremely upset about all the length that was cut off after I had spent over a year regrowing it since cutting it postpartum and had finally got it back to a length where i felt like myself again. When I contacted the salon to request a refund, I was met with resistance. I contacted their salon through their Business Instagram and got ZERO response. Their website lacks a clear refund policy, only stating a 50% cancellation fee (which i asked if they could honor so i could get some money back but they refused) there was NOTHING discussing any return policy through services provided. Initially, they didn't offer any refund at all and just for me to come in and "fix" it, when the damage was already done. Then offered barely a refund of the tip and blowout cost, totaling $34, which they confirmed multiple times over the phone after me asking . However, I only received $23 back. Upon calling to inquire about the discrepancy, the staff was incredibly rude. Throughout all our interactions, including when I initially messaged their Instagram page (which received no response), the customer service was consistently poor. There was no apology offered at any point. On the phone they told me it was my fault because I did the math wrong on the amount to be refunded even though I clarified the amount on the original call and they agreed. After this I told them I would be leaving a review and to which the manager Jamie replied "okay see you on google" and hung up the phone. Overall, this was an awful experience marked by a drastic, unwanted haircut and appalling customer service. I cannot recommend this salon to anyone and I will NEVER be coming here again. I wish I could leave a zero star review because I don't even feel as though they deserve one. The photo evidence below consists of my hair before the appointment, the inspiration photos I shared with Annette, and lastly the hair cut that was nothing like I asked for.

I would have to say that I enjoyed a lot of the new upgrades at Spa Castle…read more We were lucky that we went at the time we did because we had a lot of the rooms to ourselves. I have noticed with any type of spa experience the best time to go is during the week and in the morning. There was a ton of staff really taking care of the entire place and everything was being cleaned throughout the day. As stated, I really enjoyed going to a lot of the new rooms and to pool outside. If you are looking to relax , then look no further. Spa castle offers a relaxing and unique experience in Carrollton. #girlsmorningout

I've rarely been compelled to write a negative review but I feel it's only right I inform others…read morewho are thinking of going. I've been to spa castle in NYC having grown up there. I remember it being a fine establishment for the price (10+ years ago). So seeing that they've recently renovated here I was curious and decided to go have a relaxing day. This place is not Korean and obviously not meant to be on par - it's a Chinese alternative and unfortunately cuts corners and costs wherever they can and it shows in how the reno was done. For 2 people it was close to $200 without any additional purchases. Issues 1) You put your shoes away in a small locker before proceeding to the main locker room. Typically in spas where you're forced to take off your shoes - the staff also do not where their personal outside shoes indoors. This was the first red flag. Everyone walks around in their normal shoes. You're basically walking behind them and stepping in all the filth from outside while being barefoot. I'm Asian, this is u acceptable. 2) A few pools indoors and out were inoperable because the caulk/sealant they used were coming off and floating around in abundance. I can't imagine what the pools with jets look like without the bubbles. You can see that the renovation was done hastily and someone even posted a picture of no permit work done. Concerning 3) In the men's area, the sauna was not hot. The steam room had a pungent paint/construction scent. Not something you'd want to breathe in for extended periods. 4) Saunas on the main floor had no identity to them. If you are used to going to other Korean spas, you will be familiar with each room actually having a unique healing property. How? You saw the bags of herb, you smelled it, the light sources were legit. Here each room is the same. The rooms with light therapy were cheap aliexpress strip led lights that didn't work in some cases. This place isn't worth the money. You can tell from an hour or two that no one really cares about the experience. It's a money grab.
