We had a broken hot tub. Knew exactly what the problem was and wrote them telling them we just needed it fixed. They said service guy will be out within a week, guy comes out, says you need this part (thanks we already knew that), didn't fix anything and they said afterwards "oh yeah and that will be $200" then said to actually fix it they want $600 (part is $200)... what a joke read more

I got a saltwater in-ground pool through PPS last year. I got 3 bids and PPS wasn't the lowest, but I have no regrets choosing them for construction. Nik from Woodbury was amazing and answered EVERY question I had from my very first inquiry to project completion. The construction team was awesome and my pool is beautiful! A year later, everything still works great. ...However, the post-construction customer service at PPS is 2 star AT BEST. I'm not trying to be rude, but customer service reps always come off overwhelmed or unaware of how to address issues. The warranty seems to be garbage too. PPS needs to seriously improve the post construction customer service department. read more

We have decided to cut our losses with Performance Pool and Spa and are going with Penguin Pools. Much better customer service and they're familiar with the issues we experienced with Performance Pool and Spa because they've had several other customers come to them with the same problems. Oh, and they were willing to give us a time they would be coming out AND SHUT THE GATE!!! DO NOT USE PERFORMANCE POOL AND SPA. THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!!!! They oversell you and install crap then claim it's not their fault it breaks and try to oversell you on their crap service and parts all over again. I understand during pool and spa season that you need to get on a schedule in advance. It took a few weeks to originally have our spa checked. When the tech arrived he was professional and competent. We had a small leak and he was also very thorough trying to find the problem. Afterwards I worked with Justin in the service department to complete the repairs. Again, very professional and accommodating. Highly recommend this company. read more

Think twice about using PPS. We have had so many issues since our pool was installed two years ago. At first they were attentive to them, but now we are being written off and having our credit card automatically charged for repairs that should be covered under warranty. The surface under our pool liner had huge divots in it when it was built and we had to completely drain the pool, have it fixed, and refill it. The brand new liner they installed had a hole in it; so we were basically given a liner that was never intact. Start of third season, the liner completely splits and it's not covered under their "full" 5 year liner warranty. Plus the patch they put in does match our liner or line-up with the pattern. The concrete around our pool (installed by the company they recommend--Concrete Science) is cracked, chipped, and with holes all over, after just two years. Not a happy customer... UPDATE: the $180 repair we had to pay for on our "FULL WARRANTY" liner last week failed and they are charging us to come back to fix it again. Unreal. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE!!! read more

My 1-year-old pool heater quit working so when I called for service, I thought I was calling the pool company that I bought from and had installed it. I didn't realize it had been acquired by Performance Pool. I was told that they had no records from the previous owner and didn't know if it still under warranty. They came out and 'fixed' it and billed me $360. They said it was not under warranty and made no apologies for the charges. Approximately 3 weeks later we again had problems and after another $180 bill said it had more parts that had to be replaced. They came out a third time because it started making a strange noise. This time I was told that moisture caused some corrosion and that it really should covered to protect from rain. Not only was that not true according to Hayward and other manufacturers but there was no attempt to stand behind the service they had done which cost me over $500!! I will NEVER call them for any pool service again! Truly unreliable company with zero customer service. read more

I contacted Performance Pool & Spa about the construction of a sauna in a country house. The next day, a measurer with a designer arrived, immediately made a sketch, discussed technical details and cost with me, chose a material for interior decoration. After agreement, they immediately started to work. Everything was done very quickly and accurately. The sauna turned out to be very comfortable and beautiful. Let me preface my story by saying DO NOT go to this store if you'd rather not have sexist remarks made to you while out on a Saturday afternoon running some errands. My husband and I came in to get our hot tub working again for the season. I sat in the car while my husband went inside to gather the materials he needed-- keep in mind this has been his idea for the past few weeks to get it running and I am not the type of wife to give my husband "to do" lists because that's ridiculous. The man working brought the materials to our trunk and then proceeded to knock on my window of the car. I rolled the window down and he said "Now no more projects for your husband this weekend! This is the last one!" Joking or not, it's 2018 and I am a woman who could fix a damn hot tub if I wanted. I don't care if you're a 60 year old male and grew up with your mother never leaving the kitchen, but you need to get with the times and understand that women can now change lightbulbs, replace a propane tank, and put steering fluid in a car. read more

We purchased a Jandy LRZ pool heater in June, 2011, from Performance for $2074.00 (installed). Four years later the igniter went out and we had one of their technicians come out and replace it. It worked for about a month and then the igniter went out again and this time the control module did as well. We replaced both at a cost of over $400.00. The next spring the igniter was out again and the control module was bad too. This time we called our HVAC man and he replaced both again. He also notified us that the igniter that was installed by P.P.& S. the year before was wired incorrectly and it was running all the time. He said that is probably the reason it went out again. This spring (2018) once again the heater wouldn't fire, we called our HVAC guy and he said the igniter is dead again and we will also need a new control module. YIKES! This Jandy unit is junk....we are going with another pool store to have different brand of pool heater installed. read more

I needed my automatic pool cover straightened out because it was running down the tracts crooked. It needs to be adjusted every three years. They came out and told my wife that the cover needed all new ropes and they started to put all new pulleys in the cover system. I just wanted the cover straightened out. I asked them to leave(by phone as I was out of town and my wife was very doubtful about what they were doing) When I got home I got on my hands and knees and straightened it out(adjusted it) in about 20 mins. time. They will not return phone calls and I am disputing their high bill for coming out and wasting their time. I will not use these guys again. read more

Paid almost $2000 for a new pool heater and it leaked after 1 month in use. Performance Pool said it had to be corrosion in the pipes because my pool water must have been acidic and would not warranty the heater. I've had the inground pool over 20 years. The previous heater lasted 12 years and the used one bought on craigs list for $300. has lasted now 2 years. Our pool water is tested weekly and we swim several times a week. It has been my experience that this company does not stand behind their products and I will never again make any major purchases from them read more
