Celebrated my birthday with a girls night out- my friend and I shared the green papaya salad, crab and pork spring rolls, and coconut milk panna cotta. She had the Viper cocktail and I had the Elixir mocktail which was so refreshing and tasty. The spring rolls were perfectly crispy and I couldn't even tell there was crab- no fishy taste at all. Everything was perfect! Service was very quick too, especially on a Monday night. Loved the relaxed vibe!

Ambiance, vibes: 10/10 Mike at the bar was super cool. Our hostess was also super nice. She set us up at the bar and quickly got us to an available table. Food Menu: very concise. Love it. There's more small plates and a few large plates. My husband and I shared the octopus small plate, tofu small plate, and curry large plate. The octopus was way too salty. Octopus was soggy. Couldn't taste the other wonderful ingredients because of how salty the sauce was. Fried tofu was solid. Lovely texture. Black sesame sauce was nice too. Spicy green curry was nice not spicy lol generous portion of rice. I think the mint garnish would have been better as basil. Tofu was nice and silky. Drink menu: cocktails, mocktails, wine, etc. the drinks are better than the food. Got the hearts delight which was light and refreshing. My husband got the old fashion. Both good options. Seating: bar or seating. Good for small ground 2-4 people. Overall: lovely. Enjoyed the vibes. Nice, modern spot. Low lighting, good music. Good for a date too. Note: I'm from LA and I'm viet lol if this were a restaurant back home, this is a 3 for food.

Tucked away off Main Street is this little Asian fusion gem. Our server was so sweet and encouraging of everything we ordered. We got a mix of apps and 2 entrees. I think their drinks are well crafted but I always regret spending $20 on a cocktail. Standout dishes were the papaya salad, crudo, and prawn curry. That was stellar. Surprisingly, I found the crab/pineapple rice a bit too "fishy." Coconut panna cotta and coffee were delicious. Loved the little condensed milk shooter. Would return for the papaya and curry.

Stopped in on a Saturday night. Did not have a reservation but bar seating was available which offered the full menu. Very friendly and attentive staff. Provided recommendations regarding cocktails - the Gibson and the nod were what we went with and they were amazing. We split small plates of spicy crushed cucumber salad, sticky rice croquettes and chile crunch tofu. We split a large plate of crab fried rice. Delicious dinner and fun night out. Would recommend and look forward to a follow up visit.

We came here for restaurant week and absolutely loved it. The ambiance is cozy, warm, and also moody with nice colorful accents. Food was delicious. Loved the hamachi crudo and fried rice. Service was also wonderful, our waiter was friendly and accommodating!

Overall good atmosphere for a nice dinner. The food overall felt more Asian inspired than specifically Vietnamese. The papaya salad and crab fried rice were good, would recommend to others. The prawns were alright, however would not return for them alone

Peridot is a relatively new restaurant on Liberty, neighboring one of my favorite restaurants, Pacific Rim. It features dishes influenced by the flavors of Vietnam. The restaurant takes up two floors. I was charmed by the restaurant's ambiance and aesthetics: scarred brick walls, floral (crochet?) ceiling on the top floor, and large, leather booth seating. The menu was interesting. Divided into two sections, there were shareable plates and main/larger plates. I wanted to order so much from it: Brussels sprouts (of course), banh mi (always), pho, and cauliflower. I went with the papaya salad - I have been desperately seeking the perfect one since having it over a decade ago - and pork belly. The former was more savory than I expected, but good nonetheless. The pork belly was a huge disappointment - it was tough when it should have been succulent. For my main, I went with the Rohan duck. This included a wonderfully seared duck breast, tender and well-seasoned, crispy duck spring rolls, and pickled napa cabbage. I have to confess that I did not enjoy the cabbage; I found it too sour. Other than that, the dish was lovely. Other than a mishap with seating at the start, service was fine.

Really excellent dinner at Peridot during a visit to Ann Arbor to visit my sister over the summer! We snagged reservations for a Saturday night without issue. The restaurant is conveniently located on the main street in downtown AA, and we luckily found parking pretty easily. The space is modern and with a moody ambience but beautiful and cozy. We were quite comfortable in our booth towards the back of the restaurant. The menu is Vietnamese-inspired with very fresh ingredients and more unique spins. We started with the green papaya salad, which featured cucumber to mellow the spice, peanuts for crunch, a lime vinaigrette for acidity, and a touch of beef jerky to add a surprising element. Next was the ketchup fried rice, which was a top suggestion from our server. This was a simple yet delightful dish with great flavor from the ketchup and sriracha and a nice crunch from the crisped rice. The rest of our starters were rounded out with the fried tofu, which included pickled carrot and daikon and a black sesame puree (lovely combination), and the hamachi crudo with jalapeno and coconut and fresh herbs and veggies. We opted to enjoy most of our meal from the starter menu, and we really enjoyed each dish! The standouts were the tofu and the crudo. To round out the meal, we all split the sea bream, which was paired with a ginger citrus sauce and accompanied by lettuce wraps and rice noodles to construct each bite. This was an excellent main - quite fresh with a great balance of additional crunch, sweetness, and spice. We paired our meal with a few cocktails / NA cocktails (very much appreciate their extensive mocktail list), which similarly featured Vietnamese-inspired flavors. This amount of food was perfect for the 3 of us to split, and we wound up taking a bit of it home for the next day. Prices were very reasonable for the quality and quantity, too. Overall, our meal at Peridot was memorable and enjoyable and we would love to return to try other menu items and see the options change with the seasons!

Peridot is such a great spot -- a fresh, elevated twist on Vietnamese flavors. Kicked things off with the cucumber salad, and wow... the chilis gave it just the right amount of flavorful heat without overpowering it. The hamachi crudo was another favorite -- a perfect mix of sweet and spicy that made every bite pop. The cocktails here are seriously next level. Jonah is an amazing mixologist -- he took a bold rhum agricole and somehow turned it into a perfectly balanced, crisp beauty called Earth Angel. One of the best cocktails I've had in a long time. Delicious food, creative drinks, and a fun, welcoming vibe. Worth a trip to Ann Arbor if you're not a local!

I've been here four or five times and have had a great experience each time. Some favorites are the crab fried rice, kampachi and prosciutto, and the duck bahn mi. Their cocktails and mocktails are AMAZING, I should honestly just come here for drinks more. Service is generally pretty good though occasionally the kitchen may get backed up on an item or two. It's usually pretty bustling in there, full of couples on dates or groups of friends (there is always one LOUD table for some reason). A nice place to spend a night out, just be prepared to spend a little $ unless you're just stopping in for a drink and a small bite.

I stopped off here after another restaurant had a wait. It's a small quaint place with a bar. it's a Korean based spot with small plates and some main entrees The host seated us pretty quickly. I ordered a nice cocktail called Viper. It had some herbal notes with gin and was pretty good and unique. I also got the crab fried rice which was also pretty good. Good flavor and a real crab based flavorful creation. Pretty good stuff. I also got the mango salad. It was good with a good unique taste and crispness. All and all, I'm glad I tried this place. I look forward to going back.

The service and the food in this little hidden gem in downtown Ann Arbor are great. Our waitress came back again and again to check on us. The cocktail menu is quite extensive, including a nice variety of mocktails for non-drinkers like myself. The food is tapas style, with small plates and large plates. For a party of 4, 3 small and 2 large gave us plenty of food. The only knock was on the size of the croquettes. They were tiny, and we all thought they would be more substantial. And as it was my birthday, they gave me a free dessert!

Went here last minute for a girls night dinner, there is a downstairs and upstairs and we got seated in the upstairs area. The ambiance was nice and our waitress was attentive and friendly. We tried a few different cocktails from the menu and appreciated the unique options! For food, the crab fried rice was our favorite but overall was not blown away by any dish. The duck bao bahn mi was tasty, but the grilled octopus was slightly chewy. We got the chocolate choux dessert to go but were very disappointed with a dry bread like texture. It was overall a good atmosphere with some tasty dishes but would probably only return for the drinks.

My friend had high praise for Spencer, so I was excited to try it out when I was in Ann Arbor. My…read morefriends and I arrived 10 min before they opened for brunch and there was no wait, though the restaurant filled up quickly behind us. The space is rustic and simple, with fresh cut flowers on the tables. A majority of the walls were occupied by floor to ceiling racks of wine, as that is their award-winning product. Their brunch menu changes weekly and is extremely tight and cohesive. My party ordered the entire food menu sans olives (2/3rds of us don't like them), and two plates of the potato pelmeni. My thoughts below: Amaro Apertivo: mocktail based on the namesake dessert wine. This tasted like candy but not too sweet, and we enjoyed it a lot. Lovage soda: Google told me that lovage is an herb that tastes like citrus and celery. I am a huge fan of drinks with a twist, and I'd say that celery is a pretty big one! Crisp and not too sweet, the citrus flavor definitely balanced the Celery, and both flavors kept the soda fresh and crisp. This was great paired with the rest of the herbaceous menu and balanced out the richness of some later dishes, though it's not necessarily something I would enjoy by itself without appropriate accompaniment. Pickled egg, fried shallot, dill: I had only heard of pickled eggs in the context of strange British food on YouTube, so I was a little hesitant about this dish. The concept of an egg floating in vinegar brine is a bit off-putting, but once I powered through that mental roadblock, I found myself enjoying this bite. The egg is perfectly cooked with a slightly jammy yolk, and the shallots added a much needed crunch. Dill enhanced the pickled taste while cutting through the richness of the fried shallots and yolk. Sourdough focaccia, whipped butter: Never in my life have I ever made focaccia this tall. This focaccia was raised by a loving family and nurtured to develop a golden, non-greasy, crisp crust protecting its tender, pillowy innards. The classic sourdough tang is a novel addition to each bite, and cuts through the creamy, whipped butter to keep me wanting more. I could eat a whole pan of this alone, but we had many more plates to sample. Saucisson sec salami, pickled carrot: This is a simple, charming, carb-free mini charcuterie; place a slice of salami, some of the mozzarella (next dish on this list, below), and its oil atop a pickled carrot base, and you are in for a perfectly balanced treat. My favorite part of this dish is the fact that the salami was incredibly savory, and not too salty. The more you chew it, the more the flavors express themselves, so be sure to chew slowly and thoroughly! The crunch of the crisp, dill-pickled carrot and the soft chewiness of the mozzarella give each bite a lot of good contrast. Mozzarella, green garlic oil: Fresh, hand-stretched mozzarella is something that even I, a notorious cheese-hater, can't say no to. It is not sharp or funky at all, nor is it too salty. Most of the flavor comes from the green garlic and olive oil smothering each bite. Fresh and floral with a little bite, this was delicious with the salami and carrot above. Potato pelmeni, asparagus green adjika, sour cream: Given the portion size of the previous dishes (small, tapas vibes), we were not expecting the platter full of double carb heaven that met our eyes. And we ordered two!!! This is a gorgeous dish with plump, quarter-sized pelmeni nestled in a vibrant green asparagus and herb sauce with a dollop of sour cream on top. This was a classic comfort dish with a verdant twist! The pelmeni were stuffed full of creamy potato, and the dough was cooked perfectly al dente for a satisfying, pillowy bite. The sauce was homey but packed with zippy flavor and tender asparagus. The major feedback I have for this dish is that it was way too salty, to the point where the flavor was a tad too sharp because of it. Lettuces, radish, pumpkin seed, caraway vinaigrette: It was through this dish that I found out what caraway tastes like and through this dish that I figured out that I'm not a caraway fan. The lettuces were bitter and when combined with the slightly medicinal caraway taste, wasn't for me. The crunch of the radish and the nutty pumpkin seeds were great in this dish though! Fennel cornmeal biscotti, rhubarb compote, cream: This was a single biscotti with generous dollops of compote and cream. We were quite full when this dish was set in front of us, so I was frankly relieved for the small portion size. The fennel in the biscotti paired wonderfully with the tart rhubarb, and the rich cream rounded things out nicely without tipping into cloying territory. The savory cornmeal complimented the fennel and provided additional depth of flavor. A great small bite to end on! Overall, Spencer's strong fundamentals allow them to take risks with in-season local produce. Some things worked for me and some didn't, but I would love to come back to see what they can create next!

I want to preface this by saying, I still recommend Spencer. The food is incredible, the wine…read morepairing with the menu is divine however, we had a bit of a downfall with them. For background, my boyfriend and I are from Ohio and ate here around the same time last year and have been talking about our experience ever since. My boyfriend suggested we go and get Spencer again for lunch and saw that they do not take reservations online. That is important to this review, that they don't take lunch reservations online. We got to Spencer around 2:06 and it was busy which obviously is no issue at all. When we first talk to a server, she said it would be about a ten, fifteen minute wait. Then a man came over and said about 40 minutes, again no problem at all. The issue is that they don't "do callbacks", so they don't take your number. You are expected to literally wait around the restaurant in order to hold your place, however the man said to just come back within 40 minutes. We were willing to wait, again with it no issue at all as we were expecting to wait anyway. We walked around downtown for about 30 minutes and went back just to check in. The same man said it would take a little longer, 15 minutes but that we were first in line and would be sat first. Again this is no issue, you can't gage on how long people will stay and eat so we were willing to wait. We let him know that we will be waiting outside then so we don't miss our reservation. A couple were actually in the same boat as us waiting outside. Finally, after about another addition 30 minutes a couple left the restaurant so the couple outside with us walked in and we were behind them. The man saw us, apologized and said they were in front of us because they "made a reservation online." Then crossed off their name below us on a sheet of paper. I'm sorry? I checked and you cannot make a reservation until 5 PM. So what in the actual world was that? I wish I was kidding and I know how I sound here but it was so obvious that he let them in before us. At this point we were in a catch 22, leave after waiting for an hour and thirty minutes at this point just to have them come out and look for us or stay for another promised "fifteen minutes". We waited since we did drive 2 hours and 30 minutes specifically for this restaurant. Finally, after almost an hour and forty five minutes we were sat. Almost half the menu was sold out. I just HAVE to laugh at this point. Apologies were said and at this point like what were we supposed to do? We ordered everything that was left, bread, olives, salami with carrots and a celery salad which they had to make a substitute with the salad. Whatever I would've eaten scraps at this point. I had one glass of wine and after all was said is done, they gave us last call. I am still laughing at this point. We ate our small dishes and promptly asked for the check, which was 58 dollars including gratuity. I am not even going to mention the countless people we talked to outside asking us to hurry up and eat fast so they can get in. This review is for no one BUT the management at Spencer. As someone who works in the service industry and understands set backs, you NEED to figure out your reservation system. Either you have one or you don't. Talk to your staff when these things happens so they don't lie to costumers when they accidentally seat someone before them. I loved the food, loved the atmosphere, but my God please figure out the seating and waiting system. I wish you all the very best!

Finished with toasted pine nuts. The flavors were very good, fresh, rich and creamy. Portion was generous. I had the Chicken Parmesan: pan fried chicken breasts, mozzarella cheese served with angel hair pasta. The chicken was cooked perfectly, tender, flavorful as was the angel hair pasta. The clientele is always older folks, and it definitely has a kind of 90s Italian restaurant vibe, but the food is great, service is legit, and the prices aren't bad for what you get. My favorites so far have been: - Rigatoni and Country Greens - Papardelle (seasonal with sausage, peas, mushrooms, pecorino) - Roasted apple and fig salad - A seasonal bruschetta thing with pears and burrata Their desserts are solid, so far we haven't had anything incredible. I wish their tiramisu was out of this world (it's our favorite), but it's not the best I've had. (Needs more espresso, was kind of dry). The chocolate mousse was good, but much more dense/thick than expected. Their cocktails are solid and they have a nice wine list, including a fun alcohol-removed sparkling wine that I've enjoyed twice now. This is becoming a staple when we just want a nice meal out since we live nearby. Good place to take family or folks from out of town if you don't want to bother booking somewhere that gets super busy or dealing with downtown parking/traffic.

We were escorted to our table by our lovely host, and when we arrived at our table in the back of the restaurant, there was a cute "happy birthday" table card waiting for us. This was incredibly thoughtful and a nice touch for our celebration dinner. Also, I love how this restaurant is decorated - the art work, the furniture, and plants - all come together to create a welcoming, cozy, warm atmosphere for any dining experience. I also love how the menu continuously rotates and highlights fresh produce from local suppliers. We both ordered a different dish and shared, plus we had some leftovers, so the portions are very generous. We also tried some of the oysters with vinaigrette they were fresh and delicious. To conclude our dinner, we were gifted with a DELIGHTFUL banana pudding with a scoop of ice cream and a candle to make a wish (though our wish for a wonderful meal and dining experience was throughly satisfied already ) Thanks again for a great time bellflower!

The salad was fresh and well dressed - simple but good. The second starter was sardine tin. Very very good. Not overly fishy and the garnishes served with it were perfect. For mains which are enough to share, one was the trout! Absolutely well seasoned and crispy. It is served whole and butterflied. We changed the side to the house vegetable. OMG these sautéed garden veggies were the best! The other main was a Japanese curry dish. Here is why the five starting dropped to a four. It was just ok. We would not order again. For dessert we had the bread pudding- another star for the night! To the owner, terrific staff. Everyone we engaged in, were positive and knowledgeable. They are a great team! Looking forward to a second visit!

We truly enjoyed our dinner: in the appetizer, escargot, the pastry was fluffy, and the snails had just the right amount of butter, garlic, and herbs; the whitefish in beurre blanc was tender, delicate, and mouthwatering; Delmonico steak was juicy and perfectly grilled; the lamb chops were perfectly sautéed in port tarragon sauce. We finished our fantastic dinner with the skillfully prepared raspberry almond cake and chocolate Chambord mousse. To celebrate our happy event, the restaurant offered us the complementary drinks and 2 gift certificates toward our next visit. The joyful atmosphere was enhanced by a talented trio of jazz musicians who created a unique ambiance for our soirée. It was a marvelous experience. We cannot wait to come back. I highly recommend it!

First, happy hour is awesome: 4-5pm + last hour (so 8-9pm Sun-Wed and 9-10pm Thursday thru Saturday). It's half off: draft beers, sangria, starters, house cocktails and wines. Also, I stand by the opinion that DropTop is the BEST Detroit style pizza right now. However, their burgers are also FIRE - that olive burger? YUM! I also am happy to share that the little details from opening - like cold frosty glasses, cold plates for salad, from scratch dressings/sauces, etc. is still on-going which truly makes a difference to the overall experience. Service is always super friendly, helpful.

The burgers are easily the standout!! juicy, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The shakes are AMAZING, and the pizza is different and big size, making it great for sharing. The fries are another win: crispy, well‑seasoned, and addictive. The environment is nice and cozy, which adds to the charm, though I do wish they had more tables. That said, they've optimized the experience by offering a separate pickup door, which makes takeout incredibly smooth and efficient... a smart move for a small business. What really elevates DropTop is the staff. They're super friendly, genuinely welcoming, and very knowledgeable about the menu. Their recommendations were spot on, and you can tell they care about the food and the customers. Overall, I'd absolutely come back. The burgers were my favorite, but honestly, everything I tried was solid.
