Perkins Orchard has a great selection of produce! I enjoyed my first visit there on Sunday, and I look forward to going back to support a local business. I ate my first peach from there this morning, and it was awesome!

Abundant choices at Perkins!

Owner Donovan and his staff are wonderful. The produce is top quality and the freebies are appreciated. I've been a customer for 5+ years now.

Ground beef, salmon, bacon, mushrooms, lemons, limes, zucchini, squash, shallots, green onions, bell peppers, carrots, and cookie dough mix!

The selection of vegetables, meat, eggs, cheese and apples were crazy good! Hearing how this orchard started is incredible! The people working were very very friendly and helpful! Will definitely be going back!

I simply can't say enough great things about Perkins Orchard. There is such a large variety of produce to choose from and of course they change sometimes mostly depending on what is in season but it's always fresh and delicious. Our go to is the $25 grab bag deal where you fill it with your choice of items and they really mean fill it if you don't they will ask if you want to grab more. They also give you a free item and normally there are three choices to pick from. We normally pick the 12ct of farm fresh eggs. They are definitely trying to ensure you get the most bang for your buck. The property is absolutely beautiful especially during the fall when all the pumpkins come out. In the summer they sell homemade popsicles and sorbet that is so freaking delicious. They also sell other local products so make sure to stop in the little store to look around. The true gold is Donovan and his staff who are absolutely top tier. Our first time in Donovan gave us a beautiful passionate speech about his grandfather and how Perkins has became one of the oldest and largest privately owned produce markets in NC. Now when we come in we are recognized by staff as regulars and always greeted with a friendly smile. Truly feels like family. We love supporting local businesses and black owned businesses but we especially love supporting Donovan and his mission.

Wow. What a great place to go. Beautiful grounds and great prices. They have a lot of fresh foods. They also work with many other local people. Try this place out. They gave us a nice tour of the place. Bring your whole family

Pumpkins!

I finally made here! I have driven by this place many times over the years but I always miss the turn. This is a must see produce/ farm-Iike experience. Everything is local and most importantly, this is a black owned institution here in Durham. Their mum baskets were absolutely Stunning! And pumpkins galore! I got an entire bag of produce for $25 and some delicious cupcakes from the country store which carries locally sourced desserts, snacks, pantry items and meat/fish. They take credit cards! Don't forget to ask for a quick tour if it's your first time.

Perkins Orchard follows the sun. Also fresh fruits and produce

Convenient with being 5 minutes away! Know Alex and his grandmother for years. Fun to see how PO has expanded!

Best local farmers stand in Durham county! I'm a regular. They have now added a local meat store.

Friendly and consistent. I go weekly; it's my happy place. Herbs are always free, and customers always get a few items.

Fresh fruits and vegetables are either grown on the property or delivered mostly daily. They have recently expanded. Excellent prices.

Quintessential Saturday morning activity for Durham folks! Big Durham Farmers' Market fan; love to…read moregrab coffee & a pastry and just stroll around, looking at the art, smelling candles, trying on handmade jewelry. My favorite stall to grab a pastry at is definitely Loaf Bakery. Service is always so nice; the Central Park ambiance (usually with live music) is perfect. Parking available in the lot on Morris St. 10/10 would recommend!

They also sell wine, baked goods, pastas, honey, salsas and guacamole, chocolate, kombucha, eggs and dairy, kimchi, and jams. The main market is open from 8-12 pm on Saturdays (and seasonally on Wednesdays), go early to avoid some of the lines! The 2 bread stalls will ALWAYS have a long line (go to their store fronts to avoid the lines). There are some small material items you can buy as well (cups, clothes, jewelry, art, soap, baskets), but the majority of this market is food. My favorite stops to make would be Celebrity Dairy for their goat cheese spreads (AMAZING on crackers, get the "Party Mix"!!!!!), and Melina's ravioli (delicious homemade ravioli and pasta sauces). Note #1: Separate parking lot for customers! (Market is ON the Foster Street, which will be closed during the market.) Note #2: NO DOGS allowed!!! TIP: BRING A BAG!!!! NO bags with any purchases, so bring your own!! (Or buy one there.)

So if you want to have some good tacos, churros, crepés, chicharrones you need to visit this place. For tacos i go to Taqueria Allende , for crepés Mike's Ice Cream, chicharrones I don't know the name but you will see them in the entrance, for churros. If you decide to go let me know what you think.

"Great flea market: A taste (in both senses) of community in Durham"…read more I saw a posting about this place on Carpe Durham (focused just on the food) and decided to check it out. In a word, "Wow." It's a big market, with many indoor "shops" and many outdoor stands- takes a bit of walking to see it all... much bigger in size than the downtown Durham Farmer's Market, for example. There's a bit of everything there- small electronics (especially car adaptors), cell phones and accessories, household items (ranging from mattress pads to fly swatters), toys, BB guns, cosmetics, incense, and other miscellaneous items. Most of it is stuff you'll pass right by, but still neat to window-shop. LOTS of FOOD, too... tons of vegetables and fruit from multiple vendors, candy/ chocolate, etc. Best of all, it's all very cheap! In addition, it's a great place to go just eat! Many vendors sell burgers/ dogs, but also tacos, pupusas, sliced up fruit (like mango-on-a-stick), fresh-made ice cream, cooked nuts, smoothies, and other interesting drinks (coconut milk, tamarind drink, etc). I had a loroco (vine flower bud from Central America) pupusa, and it was delightful- came with a spicy pickled slaw. Also thoroughly enjoyed the coconut milk as well as some of the chocolates from a vendor inside. Best of all, it was just generally "friendly." I felt like a part of a real community walking around there, as the vendors and shoppers were so nice. My son used some of his allowance to buy a box of "snappers" from one vendor, and the vendor went ahead and gave him a second box for free. Many food vendors gave samples, and didn't then look at you funny if you didn't buy anything, but instead, wished you a nice day. Other shoppers were working-class and very friendly, helping each other out. Too often, we spend our days not noticing others around us as we swiftly sweep through sterile shops. This was a welcome change.
