We had breakfast for lunch and as always very yummy. Staff was super friendly and restaurant was clean.

You can see the hair! I pulled it out of my mouth! This is a traumatic experience!

I ordered two meals and found long blond hairs in both of them. Totally disgusting. I will no longer buy from this place.

I had eggs, bacon, had browns, biscuits and strawberry crispers. The biscuits were not fresh but not too old either. Still tasted good. I loved the strawberry crispers for something sweet. Eggs snd bacon were cooked perfectly VMT only complaint is the hash browns were greasy. I was seated quickly and Lacey my waitress was very attentive. A pleasant experience for a chain restaurant.

Really fast service. Came in on thanksgiving day for lunch. There was a pretty good amount of people dining already. The waitress was very attentive. I haven't ate at Perkins for a long time. I noticed their menu had some healthy options. The great part is that it's something worth eating! I was very pleased with the tilapia and shrimp.

It was our last evening in Iowa for the Summer of 2013, and there was an opportunity for my Son to spend some time with his cousins. My Sister was just returning from a triathlon in Ceder Rapids, and suggested that we all meet up at this Perkin's in Ankeny. The backup choice was the Olive Garden next door. I rolled my eyes and suggested that we all meet and the house in Ames. However, my Mom flatly told me that she didn't want the hassle of cooking and hosting a lot of people in the House. The other consideration was that out of the 10 folks coming to Dinner, 3 were very hungry teenage boys. So some Des Moines "fine dining" option was out of the question. Large quantities of food at a reasonable price was the ticket. So Perkins it was and for what it is, I was impressed. We were seated promptly, the extended Family had a lot of room, the wait staff was attentive, the menu was extensive (including all day breakfast options), the food came out fast, and the quantities were generous and delicious. The total bill (including tax but before tip) for all 10 of us was about $100, which I thought was a heck of a deal. We also had plenty of time to relax and talk, which at "our ages" are real time moments to cherish.

Good food, reasonable price. See pics. Clean. Ok staff. Family friendly. Lot parking. Many choices. I got the grandmas hash and it was very good. Marcy'sDinerTantrumScale 5/5- NoScreamingKids.

Service was bad had to wait for the manager to seat us ! There was only ten tables being used! The manager was rude. It was the morning manager on May 31, 1923. I asked him for napkins he didn't bring them he, mom had to ask him for napkins. He brought her some and none for me the food I ordered the steak was so dried out. I couldn't hardly cut it with a knife. The grilled asparagus was so soft and mushy. I couldn't even cut it with a knife. All I could eat was the tips The manager started to be nice after we got our food because he was working on the tip up until then he was very rude. Our empty plate sat there through the appetizer, the salad, and he took it just before the food came, and he walked by us. I couldn't even tell you how manytimes he walked by us and left that stuff on the table my mom ordered the rice and the fish with the shrimp on top. The rice was very dry. The fish was overcooked in the asparagus, was the same as mine over cooked so much you couldn't hardly cut it, and all you can eat off of it was the tips again not only was the waiter was rude, but also it took us an hour to get our food. It wasn't busy. There was no rush hour. It was after lunch, and there was just no need for it to be that bad that long I won't be going here again. I give this place no stars at all.Ankeny Perkins this app made me give it sleazy 1st at or it would not post our review

Tremendous Twelve

I thought I was going to write another generic review about Perkins when stepping in today, but that changed after I took a look at their menu and had their food. Their menu was much different than the ones I've been to in Des Moines. They had offered some special items I have no seen at other places. I got the Tremendous Twelve platter and my fiance got the Philly Cheesesteak Stack. The quality of the food was slightly better than the ones in Des Moines which was a pleasant surprise. Their staff members were friendly like everywhere else which is no surprise. Great experience.!

Much better visit this time. Out waiter Yasser was awesome and upbeat! Super friendly! He checked on us off an on but was never over bearing. He was quick to bring everything and notify us of specials. One of the best servers we have had!! The amount of food we got was a feast. Ordered the bacon flip and hubby ordered the bacon omlet on their special bacon menu and both were delicious! Served hot and fresh. And I must say when I ordered crispy hash browns they definitely delivered!! The other night we ordered a Christmas gift basket and the guest services manager was super friendly and helpful! Overall wonderful experiences. We will be back!!

Restaurant was small, interior could've used a quick sweep. Restaurant was relatively quiet besides chatter from the workers whom seem to be friendly with one another which is a huge plus from a guest perspective. Walked out with a tab of $24 including time and entree with an iced coke which could use more ice in my humble opinion. Will definitely be back to try other options on their menu.

Flame Cantina in Ankeny promises a taste of Mexican street food with a modern twist, and for the…read moremost part, it delivers. My recent visit was a flavorful fiesta, with some dishes shining brighter than others. The Good: The homemade chips and salsa is a menu item (not complimentary) Which we don't mind because you are more mindful when eating them. They are also delicious and if you get the guacamole or the chees dip you will not be disappointed! Mango Shrimp Tacos: These were the stars of the show. The tortillas cradled juicy grilled shrimp, drizzled with a vibrant mango Pico de Gallo and bathed in a creamy guajillo crema. The sweet and spicy combo was a true explosion of taste, and the shrimp cooked to perfection - tender and slightly smoky. Quesa Birria Tacos: These braised beef delights were another winner. The slow-cooked Angus beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender, swimming in a rich, flavorful adobo sauce. The crispy tortillas held up well to the juicy filling, and the accompanying onion and cilantro dipping sauce added a refreshing touch. Atmosphere: The restaurant itself is a vibrant and inviting space. The open kitchen adds to the lively atmosphere, and the colorful décor transports you straight to a bustling Mexican cantina. The 'OK' Taco Salad: While the ingredients were fresh and flavorful (ground beef, black beans, corn, Pico de Gallo, cheese, and a tangy cilantro lime dressing), the salad suffered from a glaring omission - lettuce! A taco salad without lettuce is like a margarita without lime - it just feels incomplete. (To be fair - our server offered to go get my Wife some lettuce, I just thought it was worth noting.) Service: The service was friendly, and on-point. Tristan kept the drinks filled and was attentive without being over bearing, in a small place like this it is a good balance. Overall: Flame Cantina offers a delicious and vibrant taste of Mexican street food, with some dishes truly excelling. The mango shrimp and birria tacos were standouts, and the atmosphere is perfect for a casual and fun dining experience. Just be sure to request extra lettuce for your taco salad, and you're good to go! Final Verdict: 4 out of 5 stars. Flame Cantina is a great choice for a casual and flavorful Mexican meal, with a few minor tweaks needed to truly ignite all five stars. Pro Tips: Try the spicy hot sauce - ask for it, it one of the better ones I've had because it has both the heat and the flavor! Saturday's are $3 tacos until 5pm! I hope this review helps you decide whether to give Flame Cantina a try!

Oh and my favorite soup in the area the tomatoes basil bisque. So I ordered the 30hop burger I did take off the lettuce only because of the recent situation. I did end up taking off the tomato as well it didn't hence the burger and made it taste off. Ate them on the side with the ranch. My only thing I wish they would improve on is to thicken up their ranch its so thin it drips off quickly and is all over the place. Allison K did an amazing job with answering my questions and the next time I come back in the Turkey Panini will be my next choice with the soup dipper option. The service was excellent--our waiter was kind, attentive, and made us feel well taken care of. I ordered the yakisoba bowl without any meat add-ins, and I'm so glad I did. It was easily the best yakisoba I've ever had. The sauce leans more sweet than salty, which made it really unique and flavorful. I absolutely loved it. I would definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area. I definitely think it would be a great spot to watch any sporting event. It is winter time, but looks like it would be a nice spot in the summer. I can't wait to come back and try more items on the menu!
