Food was good. Service was bad. They never checked on us. They only brought out part of my order. I had to ask for the rest had to wait half hour for the check. We had to ask for it three times

Brioche French toast , short stack, country fried steak

The waitress was great very informative and very friendly. We got the chicken fried steak breakfast and we also ordered the brioche French toast and short stack. The country fried steak was perfect crispy on the outside nice crunch to it and gravy was thick not runny. The short stacks were nice and fluffy. The French toast was made perfectly nice and buttery soft. The eggs were scrambled moist not dried out. Bacon were crispy and the had browns were very good not burnt or hard. Next time we're in Des Moines we are going to have to come again.

I wanted a little sit-down-style restaurant during my overnight stay in Des Moines. I was staying at the hotel down the road and decided to take a stroll to see what I could find. The place was practically empty when I arrived, but there was a handful of servers and bussers cruising around. When I sat, I was immediately greeted by my service, who was super friendly. The menu has only a handful of items on it because it is their "Holiday Menu" I ordered the safest thing, which was the Turkey dinner. It took just over 25 minutes to get it delivered, and when it arrived, the Turkey and the gravy were hot, but everything else could. I mixed it all just to make it all warm since I didn't know when it would come back if I sent it back. When I checked out, th female manager was not the most friendly person. I am pretty site. I won't be revisiting this location.

    Nasty floaters in OJ

Nasty. Dirty glasses and utensils. Look at these photos. How? How in the name of unholy laziness do you not see or look at the glasses before you fill them? How do you not see the nasties floating on top when you bring it to my table? I'll answer. You pay the lowest wages to the most hard up workers and no one cares. Eat here? Probably riskier than the corona virus. This is officially a dive now. Negative stars.

Never had a bad breakfast, unless it came from a food delivery service and something was missing from the order.

It's too bad that we don't have a restaurant chain like Perkin's in California.

Most of the time I was there, a line stretched all the way to the door -- a steady stream of people happily waiting to purchase their precious goods. And after one bite, it makes perfect sense. The beignets are tender, golden, and decadently filled -- I chose the Nutella and the tiramisu, and each one delivered a luscious center wrapped in a delicate, lightly crisp exterior. They're indulgent yet airy, rich yet balanced. The strawberry cream croissant was beautifully laminated, shattering gently with each bite to reveal silky cream and bright berry flavor between buttery layers. There's a precision and care in every pastry that makes the quality unmistakable. Having traveled extensively and tasted pastries in cities around the world, I can confidently say these stand among the finest. From the highly praised almond croissants to vibrant fruit tarts, elegant cakes, and standout walnut cinnamon rolls, everything reflects true craftsmanship. Ces pâtisseries sont fantastiques. The menu extends beyond sweets with freshly baked breads, savory quiche, satisfying sandwiches, smooth espresso, and thoughtful seasonal offerings. The space is spotless and welcoming, grounded in high-quality ingredients and genuine hospitality. The staff is gracious and attentive, making each visit feel warm and unhurried. Owner Nadia Ahissou began baking during the pandemic and has earned well-deserved local recognition for her success as a Black entrepreneur. She is often present, hands-on and focused, clearly invested in every detail. Her commitment to authentic French technique is evident in every bite. Des Moines is proud to have this charming treasure in its community.
