We walked into Perkins with a 94 year old lady that used a walker. There were 4 people at 2 tables in the restaurant. We asked for a table. Then we were walked back to the far end of the restaurant to the section that the waitress was working. We walked past several empty tables to get there. Our table had been bussed but not cleaned. We waited for it to be wiped down. It was left real wet so we used our napkins to dry it. Then had to ask twice for extra napkins. I have had the turkey dinner multiple times at other Perkins. My meal was terrible. The dressing was very salty and yellow colored. The potatoes looked like they were squeezed out of a tube. Looked like 2 egg rolls. The turkey was very dry and salty. The broccoli was very good. Perkins has always had good broccoli. All of the food except the broccoli was room temperature. Wife had the salmon. She said it was pretty good. Wait staff was under-worked and not very competent. Good thing they were not busy. All of this was at 6 P.M. at night. They used to be packed at this time. Something needs to change. read more

We recently ate breakfast at Perkins. Their bakery display was appetizing and very hard to resist. They offered a variety of baked goods.. I ordered three things for my meal and only one of them came hot. I had to send the other two back and they came back warm too hot. Our waitress was very pleasant. Fried food is dry and old tasting. Like it's been fried and reheated in microwave. I've had paper in my pancakes, and they got rid of the large soda assortment which was something I enjoyed. Sometimes we'd go just for the diet cherry coke and pies. Pies are 10/10. Other food 2/10. read more

I don't normally go to chains but tried this Perkins for a late breakfast. I ordered the "Big" country skillet. What a joke the skillet was literally half empty. Ordered sour dough bread with it and it never came out. Kids had the prickly pear pancakes. They were large and yummy. They cleared their plates. Wife ordered the everything omelette. I used to love eating at Perkins. Things have gone drastically downhill the last 2 times we had breakfast at the Rochester Perkins on Broadway. I used to love their potato pancakes. Last time I ordered those, they were definitely NOT potato pancakes! Potato pancakes were always pretty close to cakes of hash browns. But now, Perkins cuts costs by putting a little bit of grated potato in the regular flour-based pancake batter. This is disgusting. It is definitely cheating to call those things potato pancakes, but, hey! flour is less expensive than potatoes! After this episode, we had breakfast last Sunday at Perkins. I ordered sausage patties and hash browns. The sausage was delicious - it tasted like the "Old Folks" brand sausage, which I have bought at the grocery store, and I love it! The patties were thin and about 2.5 inches in diameter.The hash browns were in a square about 3"x 4". The meal cost $11.99, I think, with another $3.89 added for the coffee. This is very poor value for the money, given the portion size. The plate sure did look empty! I remember when Perkins had giant portions all the time. People notice the decline in quanity and quality of the food. People notice. The servers have always been excellent at Perkins, including during our recent visits. But over the last year, servers have come and gone regularly. read more

Visited this Perkins today. I've lived in Rochester for 8 years. Today's visit to this Perkins was probably the worst restaurant experience in those 8 years. The service was very slow. The waitress visited us once. When we ordered. I ordered the fish and chips. 1 piece of the e pieces was not edible. Totally burned. Another piece was half edible and the third piece was fine. The person I was with had the biscuits and gravy with eggs, hashbrowns and bacon. The biscuits on the bottom were burned. Not edible. Hardly any gravy on the biscuits. I never received the bill. This is a fabulous place to get the most delicious Wild Berry Sugar Free Pie you have ever eaten! It is indescribably delicious! And, the server, Chloe, is the loveliest person to get it for you. My visited this restaurant at 7PM on a Saturday evening. It was a horrible experience. 1. I sat at my booth for 15 minutes before anyone took my order. 2. Noisy music is bleeding into the dining area from the kitchen at all times. 3. My food finally arrived after a much longer wait from the time I ordered it. 4. I ordered a sirloin steak dinner. The steak was completely raw and cool on the inside. The mashed potatoes were runny and boiling hot as if they had just been sitting over a burner for a very long time. The food wasn't bad but it wasn't extraordinary. The salmon we ordered wasn't cooked the way it was supposed to. If you love salt and grease, you may enjoy this place...otherwise avoid it like the plaque. I had a breakfast platter and all of the meats were heavily salted. My mom had chicken tenders with mashed potatoes and gravy. My dad had the meatloaf. They both also complained of everything being way too salty. My girlfriend and I stayed in the Ramada last night in Rochester. We weren't exactly sure what to order, due to COVID. We saw this place and decided to grab something. They prepped our food and we had it in less than 30 minutes, which was excellent. I had their "Breakfast Burger" which had Hashbrowns, Egg, Bacon, and Hamburger meat on it. It was fantastically prepared, everything tasted pretty kickin'. My girlfriend had their Salmon plate, with Mac N Cheese and corn, and then a dish of brisket and mashed potatoes and gravy. The gravy was a bit too salty for our liking, but that's just one downside! Not everything can be perfect. We loved the delivery guy from DoorDash. He was kind and was wearing a mask and everything. We were at Perkins South five years ago. Ordered a turkey dinner five years, received a cold turkey roll. Took our over night guests to the resturant before noon on December 9th. All ordered breakfasts. Service was slow, breakfast was cold. If Perkins South can't serve better food, it should close. Place wasn't that busy, should have paid better attention to the other negative reviews. There really isn't a good place for breakfast in Rochester. Will fix at home as long as back holds up.
