Our family of 14 had reservations for May 27 2018 at 6:30 pm to celebrate the birthday of my late husband, Perkins was his favorite restaurant in Topeka, KS and took all of there at 1 time or another (7 grandchildren). My daughter got a phone call at 6:30 am asking where were we!! They had a made a reservation on top of ours and I guess that group was more important because we got cancelled! The 10 of us spent the day trying to find a place we would all like to go to, but bottom line is, we wanted to go to HIS favorite restaurant!! At 4:00 Perkins called my daughter and said she could get the other people out by 7:00. My daughter told her none of us would =ever spend our money there again. I was not sure I wanted to go here after reading past reviews, but they are very old reviews, it was time for an uptodate review...and I was glad to have given them another try. Have not to this restaurant in many years due to bad service the first time...Well, we tried again on a Sunday morning and it was a total change.....It took a bit to get seated and waited on, but after that...it was a very, very, good. ....Food was very good, our waitress Sarah was out of this world...probably the best we've had had in many years anywhere.....It did not take very long for our meals and we were so happy with our breakfast that we will definitely go back there soon when visiting family read more

This place has some of the best food around, especially compared to IHOP. Milkshakes are wonderful and I don't even usually like milkshakes!

We ate breakfast here on 8/8/2014. Upon entering, I thought the place smelled dirty. I ordered eggs benedict. It was hands down the worst thing I've been served in a restaurant EVER. It was barely warm, the eggs were fried, not poached and had the consistency of a Frisbee. The hollandaise was AWFUL. We had a table outside the kitchen and could see the filth under the pick-up table. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. The service was slow as if the cooks could only make one horrible plate at a time. The waitress was fine. I will never go back. read more

So far the worst service we have experienced in the state of Kansas. And probably the worst Perkins we have visitors nation wide, our waitress is rude and throws things at us, doesn't listen well to orders, we have watched the wait staff leave tables unattended, and the table next to us, empty but still full of plates is still not completely cleared, but everyone is enjoying the chat time behind the counter. I ordered 4 dozen Perkins cookies for a party several days in advance. When I got them home and opened up the boxes I was very disappointed to see that they were all way overbaked. They should have had plenty of time to make more but instead just sent the overbaked nasty dried out ones! read more

We ate breakfast at the restaurant and paid for our meal with a debit card, including a tip. When we checked our account after the charge had been processed we found that they had overcharged us. Called to talk to the manager but they were too busy to talk to us, lol, so we left a message. Never received a call back if you can imagine that. What a worthless manager. Businesses forget that we have the $ and we have many choices. Need to take care of your customers. If this is the way that Perkins conducts business here we come IHOP. read more

We split the Hungry Man's Breakfast. The waiter was very friendly and had the portions put on different plates.

I don't really enjoy Perkins. The price seems fair though the serving sizes are smaller, and the quality isn't much better than an average chain restaurant. It always seems sooooo open inside. I like seclusion even I eat out. Sure I'm in public, but I don't like feeling like everyone can see me. Haha Their pies are good. Um. Well most of their desserts are good. Perkins was always my favorite breakfast restaurant! One Monday morning my girlfriend and I went into Perkins on Wanamaker happy as can be as we always loved Perkins the waiter was fine she was new and I used to be a waiter so I know how it is learning the ropes I am very generous and nice to any waiter/waitress because of that so she took our order and then we waited for our food it came out and it looked good as always but after 2 bites in I found a hair! Being a waiter before I don't freak out about a hair its not a big deal its not going to hurt you right and I'm also not one to complain to get a free meal or a discounted ticket so I moved on a forgot about half way through my omelette I found another hair on top this one was a little more black and stubby and so I said to myself well if I was fine with 1 I guess I should be fine with 2 although a little uneasy I again took the hair off the omelette and moved on with eating my breakfast. I was just about finished with my omelette when I noticed yet another black hair this one was a little longer and thinner so now this was the third hair and not only was I not fine with it now but I knew if I wasn't fine with this (being the easy going very generous and nice waiter I once was meaning I understand the restaurant industry and still like to leave nice tips to everyone unless you're just down right rude) no one else would be fine with this and they probably would have made a scene but i waited until the waitress came back and let her know of the issue. She was very apologetic and seemed to truly care about the situation so even though I was the victim here after reporting the 3 hairs in my 1 omelette I felt bad because I don't like to complain and make the waitress the cooks and anyone else feel uneasy but I figured well justice needs to be served on this one so I had to say something so no one else would have to be disgusted. So she told me she would get the manager and shortly after that the manager was at our table and so I let her know and she was basically asking where is the hair after inspecting it for a minute or so, so i pulled the plate up a little closer to her and was pointing at it but she still couldn't see it so i pointed right at it at that time it moved onto my finger or somewhere and was never seen again so she never saw that hair or the other 2 hairs that were on my napkin because I used the napkin after i placed the 2 hairs on there prior to finding the third because i wasn't that disturbed with the situation so subconsciously I used the napkin for my hands or what not. Then she proceeded to tell me well why wasn't this issue mentioned earlier I would've like to had this taken care of earlier well one the waitress never checked on us since we were served the food and condiments and secondly I wasn't going to complain about 1 or 2 hairs so I let her know I wasn't going to complain about 1 or 2 hairs I used to work in the food industry I understand although its still not okay I mean is a hair really going to hurt you no but after 2 you kinda feel disgusted since you're paying quite a price for a meal when you go out to eat but back to the story she said okay and took the plate I never saw her again until I went to check out but the waitress said they adjusted my bill and she handed me the bill I opened it to see a $4 dollar adjustment on my $10 omelette also mind you I was never served a new omelette or even my old plate back which still had potatoes and a little omelette on it. So this is where my pretense thought of the manager couldn't see any hairs because she was blind and so I was a liar just looking for a free item or a discounted ticket was confirmed. As a restaurant standard anywhere I've notice if even one hair is complained about on a meal you will either get a new dish or the whole item will be free well with 3 hairs on my omelette at Perkins I was given $4 off which basically was just reinstating the fact she thought I was lying I mean $4 folks that wasn't even 1/5 of the total bill and no new omelette was ever served so after my girlfriend finished eating we payed for the bill left a $5 tip for the waiter and left never to come back to this Perkins restaurant location due to terrible Manager service. So to sum it all up I was greeted and waitress service was new but fine my omelette had 3 hairs and the manager (Heather) at this Perkins compensation for 3 hairs on top of 1 omelette was taking my plate which still had some other hairless food on it never to return it or serve me a new entree and credit me $4 off my $22 ticket. which is manager service I wouldn't even expect from the dumpiest of places to eat. read more

The carpet in the booth we were seated in smelt like human pee. Like a public restroom. So we hoped for the best that the food was going to be good. It was average, although my pancakes were greasy sliding around on my plate. Now if it's finished our food. That's very uncommon. I would never go back to this restaurant again. read more

We invaded Perkins with a party of 10 for dinner. The service was very good and the food adequate. We would go back again.

The food was cold scramble eggs was not scramble, toast was cold and was not cut correct , the menu stated 3 pancakes my husband only got 2. The service was not the great service. read more
