Shoutout to Ms Cindy and staff! We love Perkins quality and hometown feel ! We cherish the nostalgia of this brand and believe that this is true Americana. I'm always proud to share Perkins whenever we are able to with my children, family, and friends. My fondest memory is pigs in a blanket after Sunday church service. My family hardly ever went out to eat and when we did we would pick Perkins for breakfast. I'm almost 53 years old and my inner child is still as excited! Don't get me wrong, every entree is awesome, but this food time warps me into a happy place!!! Cindy is my hero! She is so pleasant, patient, and professional! She is a ray of sunshine and a vessel of the best of humanity! Today just happened to be "Free pie Monday" ... we love the pies so much here that we forego birthday cake and opt for birthday pie!!! Yummm! God bless this company and may they continue to make this world a better place!

    Coffee time!

Delicious food! Our waitress Brianna was super sweet and took good care of us. Glad we stopped for breakfast this morning.

This place has some of the best food around, especially compared to IHOP. Milkshakes are wonderful and I don't even usually like milkshakes!

We split the Hungry Man's Breakfast. The waiter was very friendly and had the portions put on different plates.

We invaded Perkins with a party of 10 for dinner. The service was very good and the food adequate. We would go back again.

Service was a bit slow, and we were disappointed to find they were out of barbecue for the day. However, the food overall was good (albeit pricey), and the beer was excellent. I had the fish and chips with a side of creamed spinach and it was flavorful. Others at my table enjoyed the fettuccine Alfredo, wings, and burgers. I appreciate that the server provided a free dessert after spilling a water on one of our diners. Overall, I would return, though I have some qualms after reading some other reviews, particularly relating to hygiene.

The chicken however was like rubber. I ate half a small piece and put the rest to the side. My husband had the Pulled Pork platter which is normally good. The meat was really dry. I ate all the pasta and told our server about the chicken being like rubber and she stated that she's mentioned that exact thing to the cooks but that maybe if a customer complains they would possibly listen. What made me a little annoyed though was that I ate none of the chicken yet they didn't at least bump off a few bucks off my meal. The service was fine but I feel like over the years this has become my last choice versus my first choice.

My husband asked about a chicken friend steak, so I Yelp'd and low-and-behold, Cook's is really close to where we were. I was raised in a small midwestern town, and this, folks, is a quintessential midwestern diner! I didn't snap a pic of the menu, but ordering is done at the register and all the prices are very reasonable. I ordered a coffee & western omelette, which came with a side of hash-browns and biscuit. The coffee, very standard diner percolator brewed stuff, was fresh and the perfect consistency. The food was served quickly by a cheerful waitress who came by a few times to continue to check on us. My husband was very pleased with his chicken fried steak, hash-browns, eggs and toast. My breakfast was well-portioned; not a huge plate but definitely ample, fresh and tasty! The best part of the experience for me what the cleanliness of the dining room. Not fancy- utilitarian carpet, linoleum table tops- but so clean, fresh and well-tended. It seemed busy for a Thursday morning; more than half the dining room was occupied, and the low storefront of the building is easy to miss, but I was confident these customers were regulars. We don't live in Topeka, but this is now my fav restaurant there, so I plan to return!

Saw the line and thought "we'll never get any food for at least 2 hours!" But we were told a table for 2 should be available in about 20 minutes. It was available in 10 minutes!! Food was excellent, Herb Crusted Chicken and my husband had half a rack of ribs. Our server was Maryah, and she was spectacular! The coffee she brought was hot and fresh. She took our order and got another shaker of salt and the lemon for my ice tea very fast. Kind, courteous and friendly. We couldn't have asked for a better server! The salads, and then the entrees were served fast and perfectly. Maryah kept on top of things, and had more coffee, more rolls to us and we didn't have to sit and watch for her to flag her down. Excellent, excellent service! Maryah is a keeper! Thank you! Fast, efficient, and great food. Yup, not the place to have a long conversation with friends because of the noise, but that's okay! Mary

The plentiful portion of french fries were nicely seasoned with both salt and pepper. The grilled chicken sandwich included, lettuce, a slice of tomato, pickles, and mayo. The grilled chicken was on a large bun, but the grilled chicken filled only 1/2 of the bun. We used to purchase this sandwich with the avocado which was a large piece of grilled chicken, but I guess times have changed. I cut my sandwich in half because it was so large to pick it up to eat. The first bite of my sandwich had no chicken. The chicken had slid off the bun. I found it on my plate. Replaced it onto my 1/2 bun and could see that the grilled chicken filled only 1/2 of that 1/2 bun. It was a tasty piece of grilled chicken about 1/4" thick with a very nice flavor. The second half of my sandwich had a similar size piece of chicken, just like the first, on only 1/2 of the bun. There was nice slice of tomato on the other half of the bun. Nice to have the tomato, but it would have been nice to have a large piece of chicken. Or maybe use a smaller sandwich bun, to compensate for the smaller piece of chicken. I know that the bad economy is impacting restaurants very hard ~ fewer people can afford to dine out and costs for restaurants have increased. I will continue to support Chili's unless the chicken get s any more smaller.
