This restaurant is a example of "Build it and they will come." This place used to be a biker bar. The food is outstanding. They are especially known for their steaks. Delush. This is a hidden gem! We went after a recommendation from a coworker. The ribeye was delicious and flavorful. Portions are generous, and the staff is very friendly. The real treat is the fresh seafood. I got the salmon, shrimp, and scallops, and they were out of this world. Maybe I will be able to try the dessert one day, as I am always full! So the story starts out with my wife and I hitting a deer on Friday night in front of this restaurant. On Saturday night we are looking for a place to have dinner. We read some of the reviews on yelp and look at how many they have, they have the most in this area. It's a small town so I wasn't expecting much. Well let me tell you, I had the ribeye with shrimp special, and it blew me away. It was the best steak I've had in a restaurant in years, everything was great from the bread to the salad and the main course. My son is a freshman at Liberty University so I will be back many times over the next 4 years and I will be eating here every trip. read more

We have been to Perky's several times but our last visit was truly our last visit. The service was awful! The kitchen was backed up do to a large amount of take our orders and it appears that take outs have a priority over dine in customers. Our order took an hour and 30 minutes to come out. This was at 5 pm on a Thursday night. Once our food came out it was not good. My chicken was dry and tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for days. My husband's steak was over done. I tried to get the servers attention, but she ignored us until she brought us our check. Awful service and awful food! We will never set foot in this restaurant again. We will make the drive to New London Steakhouse which is 30 mins away instead of going to Perky's which is 5 mins away. read more

Love everything we've ever eaten here. Last night I got the BBQ ribs which were amazing as usual. Also a fan of the green beans and always get a double order. Service is always excellent. My only advice would be to get reservations if you're not able to get there when they open or very soon after. read more

Even with Coronavirus, this place scores 5 Star. Very easy to order takeout with an assigned pick up time. Food is fresh and hot and ready when you arrive. Special of Ribeye and Shrimp was awesome. WAY overrated and WAAAAAAAAAAAY OVER PRICED. The only thing this place has going for it are their life long patrons whom have 40-50 bucks to throw at a meal for one. They do have the best STEAK SEASONING AROUND. Two adults one drink each(from the bar) and an entree, which would include a steak dinner and either a chicken breast or shrimp and or scallops runs 75+ dollars here. It is was to raved about for what it actually is. You need reservations to get in usually. 15 years ago the food was amazing but, as most places it has only deteriorated over the years. It is more of place to go and gloat "We had dinner at Perkys last night". My wife decided to treat me to birthday dinner here and we both thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the service. It was a Tuesday evening and the place wasn't overly crowded but I hear reservations are usually in order because they stay pretty busy. It has been years since I have been here and I remember enjoying it then as well. We started with the fried cheese sticks that were tasty. I got the Ribeye Special that came with a skewer of grilled shrimp, 2 sides and a salad. More than enough food! The ribeye was cooked as ordered, medium and had GREAT flavor. The shrimp were plump and juicy with good flavor. I got green beans and loaded baked potato as my sides. They put bacon bits into the green beans and they taste ok, if they wanted to boost it even more they could add in some smoked ham hocks, that would knock them out of the park. The service is great and the manager/owner even came by to compliment my wife and I on our matching attire even though we had no idea we did or else we would have changed before we left. Perky's may be that place you pass by several times and never stop. I encourage you to hit the brakes and turn in, definitely worth your time. read more

This is a potential jewel - great location in an underserved area rife only with fast food and chains, well managed and service was fair ... But ... Steaks looked to be the best choice, but their secondary focus on shrimp and scallops was our choice, with one going for chicken and boneless BBQ. The shrimp included plain grilled, and Alfredo dish, and a combo shrimp and scallops. Grilling always dries shrimp out, and theirs were dry. Chicken also overlooked and dry. BBQ was OK, but more roast tasting than cooked on the bone and pulled. All of these are easily fixable. What may not be fixable are the various vegetable sides which apparently are all canned. Doctored up a bit, but still canned. The steak fries were pretty good. Mashed potatoes watery. The reason this may not be fixable is that Perky's appears to be aligning itself with what they perceive their customer base to be ..."Homestyle Cooking." The owners could VERY easily turn Perky's into a great place with a shift to only fresh vegetables, more careful grilling, more imagination, and a move away from the dreaded home cooking thing. The local area is full of small farms and fresh ingredients should be easy to find. As a marker of potential, they have a rather extensive for the area brew list with great prices. Do the same with local Virginia wines! We'll go back and try the steaks ... read more

The steak was very good, salad and sides were OK, beer list was extensive. I'm from out of town so I don't know what else there is, but I think this is a good choice if you are in the area. The place is not too big and was full on a Tuesday night so reservations are definitely recommended. read more

My husband and I bobtailed our Big Tractor over here one evening on the advice of the local hotel clerk. They said they had the best steaks anywhere and they were kidding. Located in an unimpressive roadhouse at the side of 29 just North of Alta Vista, about 20 minutes south of Lynchburg, Perky's boasts steller BBQ and beers, and above-average seafood and steaks. This place is the best place to eat in all of Campbell County. Probably Charlotte County too. Also Halifax. Include Appomattox on that list. And the entire state of Maine. read more

Have had both a good and bad experience here. Our last visit was 2 weeks ago on a Saturday night. We got there at 5:30 to avoid the rush, which we did, but the kitchen was running at a snails pace. It took over an hour for our entrées to come out. My chicken breast was over seasoned and tough. The only saving grace was the green beans, they were absolutely fantastic! Our waitress was friendly but after telling us that our food would be up "next" for 30 minutes she just started avoiding us until the meals actually came out. This was not a service issue, it was a kitchen issue. I would not have minded the wait if we would have been offered more bread or something else to munch on while waiting over an hour for our food, but we were not. I have heard other people rave about this place, but based on our experience will will probably not go back anytime soon. read more
