Charley's is a decent place for lunch or dinner. They won't blow you away, but they will provide consistently good service and pretty good food. The mozzarella sticks were good but obviously frozen. The pasta primavera was delicious with plenty of cheese but wasn't seasoned very well and contained undercooked veggies. French fries were pretty typical of what you may find at an Applebee's. I don't have anything in particular to really complain about, but I also don't have much to highlight either. It might be a good choice if you want somewhere to go to socially without spending too much, but otherwise I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to visit.

Prime Roast Dip with au jus for dipping and mashed potatoes

I came here before when I was in college a long time ago, but since moving back I had to try it again. Did a takeout order because I had my sleeping 2 year old with me. I ordered the Prime Roast Dip with the mashed potatoes, the kids Corn Dog Nuggets with fries & 3 rolls because I had remembered them being so hot & delicious. I pulled up in the space for the pickup orders & I waited for all of 5 minutes. Very quick service. Once I got my food I couldn't wait to try a roll, so I took one out the container and ate on the way home. Either I forgot what they tasted like before or they changed the rolls since I last been but they tasted like Sister Schubert rolls. Wasn't too impressed. The Prime Roast Dip was delicious. The sandwich was good on its own. Loved how it came with onions, green peppers and mozzarella cheese. Also liked how the roll wasn't soggy since it was already dipped in the au jus. My only complaint was that the au jus that came with the sandwich was too salty for me. You could tell it had a good flavor but it was over seasoned with salt. The best part of the meal, to me, was the mashed potatoes. I LOVE good mashed potatoes & they have some good ones Just wish they didn't put them in aluminum foil because it was hard to scrape the bottom lol. Needless to say I ate all of them. My son loved his Corn Dog Nuggets. He's not a big fan of bread so he picked out the hot dogs and left the outer dough. He also enjoyed the French fries. Overall good meal. May have been even better if we ate in the restaurant & the food was nice & hot. Will go again & try my luck with the Prime Roast Dip.

Our server, Peter, was very attentive.

Wide variety of well prepared dishes. This time...quiche and salad and prime rib sandwich, which also came with a salad.

Had our family's rehearsal dinner here, and it was great! The parking was perfect, the servers were so nice, and the food was good.

Food is good, but steaks aren't anything great. Service is sweet. They close before their advertised closing time though, which is strange

Upscale without being stiff, comfortable without losing that polished feel. I ordered the jambalaya, and it was a standout. Well layered flavor, not overly heavy, with a nice balance of spice and richness. The proteins were cooked properly and the vegetables still had structure, which matters in a dish like that. It felt intentional, not just thrown together for a brunch menu. Across the table, the Eggs Benedict was equally strong. The hollandaise was smooth and properly seasoned, not overly lemony or thick, and the eggs were cooked right where they should be. That is often where places miss, but this one didn't. Dessert was where things really elevated. The strawberry cheesecake was clean, bright, and not overly sweet, with a good texture that held together without being dense. The chocolate Rasberry glutin-free dessert torte, was rich in the right way. Deep chocolate flavor without crossing into heavy or overwhelming. Service was attentive without hovering, and timing between courses was well paced, which is not easy on a busy holiday like Easter. Overall, this is a place that clearly pays attention to execution. Not just presentation, but flavor, balance, and consistency. That is what separates a good brunch from one you remember. We will be back.

Server wasn't much help and said she was new. Service was slow and embarrassingly bad. Our food was subpar and nothing to write home about (we didn't even take photos) - the best bite was the Thai Chili sauce Brussels. 3 out of 4 at our table had a that a veg side and everyone liked them! My wife had a the filet, which wasn't very tender. We came for dinner based on advertisement of a James Beard award winning chef. We've been to many restaurants (not in LYH) that have a James Beard award winning chef- don't be fooled this one wasn't!!!

I just moved to Lynchburg a month ago and experienced dining downtown last night (for the first…read moretime) and it really made me question if I will ever go downtown again to eat out. I have several issues but will start with the first one that really bothers me: 1. As I approached the restaurant I noticed this homeless man walking around the block with a walker. I was in Dish from 5 - 6:30 and this homeless man came in THREE times to go into the bathroom (he was not a customer). This was not only a huge turn off but IMO a sanitary issue of him going into the bathroom doing who knows what. I saw the expression on the waitress face like she did not know what to do. Was there a manager working? Is this how it is at every restaurant in town that they allow homeless people in to use the bathroom? Are there homeless shelters for people in town to provide care and feeding for them? 2. I ordered a glass of wine on the Happy Hour menu and it was weak, like water was added to it. 3. I ordered the Smoke Salmon encrusted in Puff Pastry and the puff pastry was not cooked all the way (it was clearly visible that it was not a golden brown but rather a pale yellow. I just hope my future experiences in this lovely town on much better than I experienced last night. And one more thing, I have stomach issues today, and all I can think of is the cooks using that bathroom where this homeless guys went in 3 times in 90 minutes. I question how this is not Board of Health Violation.
