Didnt run enough tests to determine what was wrong with me, currently have a really gnarly sore throat and they gave me minimal tests the first time and deduced it was something that anti biotics would treat, went back 4 days later and they prescribed a heavier dosage with no other testing. the doctor didnt seem confident in his own answers pondering on what to so with me lol, went to the ER the next day and the first test found out I had Mono. This clinic could have easily gave me a blood test and found out themselves but didnt. not happy with the treatment or service from here. read more

I had a very unpleasant experience at the Santee clinic due to unprofessional and disorganized service from both Mahnaz Rezai and the front desk staff. Upon arrival, I clearly stated my name and reason for the visit, but the staff appeared confused and had trouble checking me in. Things only went downhill from there. After completing my blood work and urine sample, I was told my visit was complete. However, about 20 minutes after leaving, I received a phone call asking me to return because they had failed to follow the doctor's order of drawing five vials of blood--they had only collected three. I asked for clarification on what was missed, but the person on the phone was unclear and simply stated it was for an HPV test (I think she meant HCV). I asked more info about what this tests, and she said she did not know. When I asked to speak with the doctor or someone more informed, the caller refused to transfer the call and told me I'd need to make another appointment if I wanted to speak to the doctor. She refused my request to have the doctor call me back to explain the test since she couldn't, so I could decide whether I wanted to back for it or do it at a later time. Eventually, she said she would speak with her lead and call me back--but I never received a follow-up. Overall from start to finish, the experience with their staff was very unpleasant and disappointing; such dismissive, unhelpful, and uninformed responses should not be acceptable. I will be choosing a different doctor and recommending people not to go to this clinic location. read more

I went to see if I could have injections of Marcaine for pain. I understand that the MD was not licensed to do such injections unless in a joint (and mine would not be joint related). Then despite my being there for urgent care, he went off on tangents about C. diff strains and low TSH levels. Despite my biomedical research background of several decades and having other doctors---specialists--in C. diff and thyroid disease working with me, he treated it all as if I knew nothing, had not MD specialists, and that he knew everything. I looked up issues of low TSH again; I was right, he was wrong. There are debates about low TSH and outcomes of subclinical hypothyroidism. Research on PubMed regarding low TSH levels during thyroid hormone therapy highlights a conflict between biochemical targets and patient-centered outcomes. While guidelines emphasize maintaining TSH within a normal range to avoid medical complications, some evidence suggests that current standard replacement therapy may leave patients with "tissue hypothyroidism" despite a normal TSH. He said there was only ONE strain of C. diff that "everyone" carries. No. Again, I was right, he was wrong. The C. diff strain causing an infection (like the hypervirulent O27 strain) is often different and more dangerous than the C. diff carried harmlessly by some healthy people, as infection-causing strains produce powerful toxins that disrupt the gut, leading to severe illness, while the commensal strains typically don't. (etc.) I went there to see if he could administer Marcaine injections for my esophageal referred pain along my upper ribs and sternum. Again, I totally understand he could not due to not being licensed to perform the type of injection that is not joint related. But I did NOT go there for a comprehensive review of my health, let alone to be talked to like I was a moron and have my time wasted with his telling me things that are simply flat-out incorrect! I hope he learns from this review. He said he was not licensed to do injections of Marcaine other than to joints. Now I think he either did not know the full range of his licensing capabilities or didn't know how to do them superficially to tissue/nerve pain. I looked it up. Unless AI got it wrong, it seems that yes he does in fact have license to administer Marcaine injections superficially to tissue.: Yes, a licensed California MD is allowed to administer Marcaine (bupivacaine) injections both into joints and superficially to tissue. Under the California Medical Practice Act, a physician's license is not restricted to specific anatomical sites once granted; rather, it authorizes the broad practice of medicine. MD Scope of Practice in California General Authority: California-licensed physicians are authorized to prescribe and administer medication, use devices to penetrate tissues, and employ all methods in the treatment of diseases, injuries, and other physical conditions. No "Injection-Specific" Licensing: There is no separate "license" specifically for joint injections versus superficial tissue injections. If a physician is licensed to practice medicine in California, their scope includes administering local anesthetics like Marcaine for any medically necessary purpose, including joint (intra-articular) or superficial (subcutaneous or intradermal) applications. Technical Versatility: Marcaine is frequently used both for deep joint injections and for superficial "diagnostic blocks" or local anesthesia prior to minor procedures. read more

I walked in hoping they would be open on 12/24/24. The staff greeted me and set an appointment at 2 pm. The PA I saw at 2pm was very thorough and offered sound advice with a prescription that was sent next door to Walgreens at my request . Very efficient office ! read more

I found the Perlman clinic after I had a change in health insurance and needed to choose a new PCP. Dr. Perlman is great, he is attentive, listens to my health concerns and is very thorough. Unfortunately, the office staff at this location is the reason we are looking for a new PCP in our neighborhood. They are a younger team, but this should not be an excuse for the unprofessionalism and almost rude demeanor that was demonstrated. When you see a medical provider, you expect to be treated with care and also there should be a sense of urgency to the matter. I am recovering for a 11 day hospital stay and there are medical records, and prescriptions that need immediate attention. Getting the appropriate forms filled out with the front desk immediately felt like it was going to be a challenge when instead of walking me through the new patient forms needed, they went back and forth about who was going to help me. The girls at the front desk in this office seemed to be more concerned about what they did the night before than helping you maneuver through the new patient process. The follow up is poor, and they were less then welcoming. Dr. Fangerow's assistant was very helpful, but the front desk staff needs some work on their people skills. I am not one to leave a negative response, but I thought this was important. I have had to go now drive to the office twice in a 5-day period to follow up on messages that I have sent that went un-answered, and that for me was enough.
