NEVER. USE. THIS. COMPANY...EVER. I needed a tow and called my roadside assistance at 430p to help. Perlman's is contracted through them and was dispatched to assist. I was told it was going to be a two hour wait even though they are contracted only for an hour wait. Fine. Two hours pass and no one showed up. I called my road side assistance and when they contacted Perlman's, Perlman's said they canceled the tow because their truck broke down. A towing company only has one truck?!? No one ever called to say the tow was canceled. So now I have to wait ANOTHER hour for a different tow company to come get my car. It is now past 7pm and I have an infant with me. Perlman's was EXTREMELY unprofessional in this situation as they never contacted ANYONE to let them know they can not do the tow. If they had, things would have moved a bit faster and I would have made it home earlier with the baby. This isn't the first run in I had with this company. There was another time, months ago, where again I needed a tow. Again it was a two hour wait. Again, they never showed. They said they were busy and couldn't make it to me. I am upset and outraged at the damage and suffering this company has caused & is causing me. After waiting several hours to be towed from a well-populated area, this company caused a my van to crash into TWO other vehicles, and very nearly hit a man!. The tow operater may be incompetent or impaired in some way, because he did not secure my van properly. So when the flat bed tilted up at that angle to unload it, it smashed into the other 2 vehicles, damaging mine extensively. If there is a rating of MINUS, I would give it! This company is paying for damages, but I will be quite awhile without transportation, & I am handicapped. This driver should be fired. read more

My BF has a warranty for roadside assistance for his vehicle. It is worth paying a reputable company. The battery died and unfortunately the charger I bought him for Christmas was not in the car where it belongs. I had AAA with all my vehicles and the wait was very short, twenty minutes tops. So naturally I expected all roadside assistance is the same. NO!! Two hours wait? Are you kidding me? To send a guy with a handheld charger? If we were in the middle of the ghetto we would have died. The moral of the story is if you do not mind being lost in an undesirable area, trapped in your vehicle for many hours feeling hopeless and angry do not use this company. It is so worth investing in AAA or using another five star company. read more

So my road side assistance company is garbage HOWEVER they did finally connect me with Perlmans Towing and Recovery and they made up for everything! My road side assistance company had me waiting for hours instead of giving my call to Perlmans from the beginning! They really tried to argue with them over a $20 gas charge! In one week has has gone up tremendously and because they didn't want to pay the extra $20 they used me as a pawn...because they would rather see me on the side of the thruway for 6 hours instead of understanding the plight of a small local business! The driver stayed on the phone with me until he found me (they gave him the wrong address), then he got my car lifted and me on my way home within 10 mins. I am beyond grateful for such an amazing local business. This country is in terrible trouble when big business takes advantage of the people that built this economy! Got stuck in Delmar after filling the gas tank. Upon returning to my car after getting a receipt a customer noticed that gas was leaking from the bottom of my car. He was right. Called GEICO and the rep called around to find a tow co. nearby. This was Sunday, 10/7/18. Was told the quickest would take 2 hours. I was given an ETA of 120 minutes before someone would be able to tow me which is a stretch when your waiting late at night. I was told I needed to wait with my car when I could've easily walked home in half the time. After waiting over 2 hours in the middle of the night, alone and in the cold, I called to see what the status was of the tow truck. The guy tells me that his truck broke down and there is no tow truck coming. Seriously!?!?! No call or nothing to notify me and by now it's 2:30 AM. Perlmans Garage flatbed usdot # 2926692 was parked in a Dunkin' Donuts parking lot for 15 minutes Sunday afternoon with the driver inside on his phone and blocking a car in her parking spot forcing the young girl to wait , when I came out with my coffee I noticed this and I walked up to the driver and asked if he can either back up or pull forward to let the young girl pass and the young man stated No I ain't got to do nothin , I literally could not believe the ignorance of this young man So I asked again and try to explain that he was literally trapping this young girl in the parking lot and for what reason and his response was to call me an asshole and to mind my own business , I instantly called the number on the truck 518-689-1951 and when someone answered I tried to explain what was happening the man on the phone told me that this is unfortunate and hung up on me ...haha at this point I was so amazed at the total disregard that I took my cell phone and started recording. ,I asked the driver one more time if he would move the truck for the girl and he would not talk to me , he waited a couple more minutes then he got out of the truck and lowered the flatbed to load a car from across the lot , the video clearly shows the tow not even started and me asking him to move forward and the car being blocked in with the young girl inside , this blatant display of disregard for everyone is disgusting any way you look at it , myself nor the young girl were the ones getting towed we were just customers ...Perlmans Garage in Albany is the most unprofessional business I've ever encountered good luck should you be forced to use them ..my video will also be sent to NYS dot in the form of a complaint just because of their total disrespect and abuse for the general public.. read more

Perlman's towed my vehicle, caused $500 worth of damage, and subsequently denied and provided false information during the course of an insurance investigation. I waited another 15 minutes then called my insurance company who advised me that Perlman stated they needed more time. They couldn't even provide a new eta or even call me to tell me anything! I had a problem with my BMW (long story short, don't buy a BMW these days because they aren't what they used to be) and Keeler recommended Perlman's. After waiting four hours for another local tow service, I resorted to calling Perlman's. They arrived promptly, only 10 minutes later than the initial time I was given (come to find out they were held up at an accident before). Their company uses a GPS tracking system so they are able to tell you the exact location of the tow truck when it's on its way to your location - super convenient! The driver was very polite and and treated my car as if it was his own. I was thoroughly impressed with his professionalism and great service. I cannot speak for the price since the tow was covered under my vehicle's Roadside Assistance, but I would definitely recommend and consider using Perlman's in the future. read more

Never using these guys again! Your time means nothing to them!! Nothing but games! Scheduled a tow a day in advance with these guys through my insurance for 10-10:30 am eta for a tow. The guy called an hour early saying he would be there in few min (9am) to which I told him my apt was at 10 not 9 I could get there in 10 min but no sooner. He then started arguing with me about how he wasn't going to wait or come back and how in a nasty tone "I should have been better prepared" smh I should have been prepared because you show up on a Monday when you want? Anyways so I said ok hung up and proceeded to call other tows like widespread who are excellent! But then guy from Perlman's between 10:30-11 started calling me over and over 4 times! (Same guy) saying how he could come now and his schedule opened up. Mmmhhhmm I'm sure it did! I answered the first time he said "are you here or not" I repeated his words to me and he started a lil tantrum to which I hung up. So he wants to just pop up when he wants even after he says he's not going to do it?! Shame on you MAVIS TIRE in EAST GREENBUSH! I would not bring my daughters tricycle back there to have you put air in the tires. I may be a "female" and you may think that I have not been around the block with an automobile. You are sooooo wrong! This "woman" just cost you your commission off 4 tires and went to Simpletire.com , ordered online and saved myself a boat load of money. Made my appointment for this afternoon at Mavis after receiving a quote from Givon at the so called Mavis Tire in East Greenbush. After a go around with the RUDE MAN ( so frustrated I cant remember his name) working behind the counter, I found out that Givon is a dispatch agent out of their main Center. So , I get to the counter to drop my car off and I was bombed with the usual , "I need a front end alignment" , I need : "brand new censors on each tire on my 2 year old Nissan.." and a few other things that they were charging me for that didn't seem right. Such as 40.00 to dispose of my tires even though he knew I was taking my tires back home. When I asked why they were charging me that he said It did not matter that I was taking them home, it was a NYS fee. WHAT??!! Then he takes my keys and did not give me the total sale for the 4 tires being installed. No No No....I made him show me the receipt. They were charging me 150.00 more than my original quote after I refused the front end alignment....and he was very rude because I wanted to see the paperwork. After all this, leaving work early, my blood was boiling....needless to say I was warned that this Mavis dealership is so very crooked by numerous people. Could not keep an appointment, gave excuses and lied repeatedly about ETA. Ultimately never showed up and a replacement tow company was procured. Wasted the bulk of my day off waiting. --- Roadside assistance through my insurer contacted Perlmans. My insurer relayed to me a 2:10pm tow time and informed me they won't do unattended tows, so I waited at my disabled vehicle at that time. At 2:40, I called Perlman's directly to get an ETA and make sure a driver was on their way. I was told another 45 minutes, they were busy with other tows. They said they did not make appointments and the 2:10 tow time I was given by my insurer did not come from them. I waited another 45 minutes, they never came. At 3:30, my insurer called to see if the tow had been successful. When I told them my current status, they contacted Perlman's. My insurer told me Perlman's told them the truck had been on its way, but had a flat tire, and they had to dispatch another truck which would take 45 minutes. Having heard this song and dance, I requested another tow company. My insurer called around and said another tow wouldn't be available until 6:30, so I waited another 45 minutes, they never came again. Once again, I called my insurer again and updated them as to my status, the status of my car, and the tow. My insurer was furious, and let me listen in on their calls with Perlman's. Perlman's once again lied to them and me. There had never been a flat time, they explained, but 45 minutes and they'd be there. No way. We found another tow company. They couldn't come until 8:30pm, but they could do unattended tows and they did come at the promised time, and do the promised work. Perhaps I just caught them on a bad day, but the substitute tow kept to their timeline and did as they promised. Perlman's lied to me and to my insurer. My insurer said they were going to review their contract with Perlman's based on this experience. I have no reason to believe the drivers are anything but terrific, but Perlman's dispatch or central operations are a total shitshow. 0/10, would not wait another 45 minutes again. read more

INCREDIBLY UNPROFESSIONAL BUSINESS! Waited 2.5 hours for a tow I was told would take up to 1 hour (their business location was only 12 minutes from where I needed to be towed from). I was also given a price directly from them of $150-$160 and when I was told the total after being towed the cost went up to $182. I was told the total from the driver who had to call the company to get a price as he had no idea himself. I was also told if I paid with a credit card I would be charged 5% more which required me to have to get a ride to an ATM. After paying a cash amount for a price I did not even hear for myself I was given no receipt. I called the company the next day to to express my concerns and was told the man in the phone was the "manager for today" when I asked to speak to a manager. He couldn't find my tow in their system and thought I had called the wrong tow company. After 10 minutes another man got on the phone and informed me I was in their system and the price they gave me initially was "only a quote" and that my total was really $172. When I then asked why I paid $182 and insinuated that the driver ripped me off and pocketed my money (as the company had refused to send me a detailed bill for the tow to pay at a later date so I could be sure my insurance was covering what they said and to see the costs for myself) I was told that they had actually underquoted me the entire time and that I got off cheaper anyway so should feel lucky. I insisted on getting a receipt for the service to which the man told me I could drive over and pick one up (knowing I lived an hour away from their location) or said, in the rudest way possible, he could email it but that I would need to provide an email address like I didn't know I would need to give him mine.
