I have to admit it is not often I give 5 stars when I am upset with something, but after thinking about it, it is not the establishments fault. I've been living 10 years now in Albany's Center Square, and I've had my share of parking tickets which were my fault. But one thing I do, is make sure and honor the temporary no parking signs in front of homes. Unfortunately, this time, the signs were not placed in the right locations, as should be, which is the homeowner's responsibility to remedy especially if someone removed them. I arrived home late last night from work and of course it was impossible to find parking. I saw an area with some, but there was a no parking sign for two spots in front of a home having construction done. I looked up two car lengths, and there was no sign in front of the tree in the open spot, so I took it. But there was another sign two spots up which I could not see, and even then, it was not for the location I was in. Seems like someone took down the sign that was in the middle. Anyways, next morning my Jeep is gone. Talk about being extremely upset, but this is Albany Center Square, and knowing how the parking is not the greatest for residents, I took a deep breath and sighed. The parking authority doesn't care about the residents when it comes to someone else's created problem. Anyways, since this was the first time, I didn't really know what to do. I callec the Albany Po Po, and they directed me to Capitol District Towing. I was concerned since my Jeep is old. But the lady at CDT was very helpful and apologetic, even though it wasn't her fault. I got there in time to get my Jeep, which was parked safely, and just like I left it. They looked like a class act, and will use them in the future for my towing needs. Hopefully, one that is not related to Albany Parking Authority towing it when they and the resident were the ones who were at wrong. read more

I ran out of gas on Broadway as I was heading south about to enjoy an afternoon in downtown Albany. First time in 51 years, so I was more frustrated than angry at myself. My phone search led me to two companies, the first of which did not impress me, but what a difference when I called Capital District Towing! Immediately I sensed these crucial factors: Empathy and a Commitment to getting a truck there ASAP to get my day back on a good footing (the unnamed other 'service rather aggressively informed me it would be at least an hour and a half). Sure enough CDT's truck arrived within 15 minutes, and a very friendly gentleman had my vehicle gently clamped and raised, ready to go. The cabin of the track was clean and neat (not always the case in my history with tow trucks), and his tone of happiness to help me added to making what could have been a bad experience into one that was actually pleasant. After just as efficiently releasing my car at the gas station I directed him to, he waved a sincere good-bye wishing my day to go better. I now have this company's number in my saved contacts and will seek no further should I ever need a tow in the future. Well done, ladies and gentlemen of Capital District Towing! If only more businesses were like them. read more

Needed some help on a Saturday afternoon - car died in driveway and couldn't get it to jump. Needed a tow to the mechanic down the street. Made a few calls - everyone wasn't picking up or closed. A great experience. My car had a park brake problem and the rear wheels would only rotate forward; so as a result I couldn't get out of the driveway of my house. At the suggestion of a friend, I called some other tow companies, including one run by a relative of that friend. Capital District Towing's estimate was about 60% of what others were looking for to tow the car from the City of Albany to a shop in Rensselaer (some were around $200; CDT's was just over $100). Though I did not get through immediately, once I talked to someone the truck arrived within 20 minutes. It was a friendly, professional interaction between the driver and myself. I was happy to be able to save a decent amount of money and get such quality service nevertheless. I am sad to say that I've had to do business with others in the Albany towing industry (the car I drive is pushing 20 years old).
