I was immediately welcomed by Stephanie, and I was offered a beverage (water, coke, Diet Coke, tea, or coffee). The waiting chairs were comfortable, and I enjoyed the vibe from all the staff. You can tell they enjoy each other's company, and this made for an overall pleasant environment. I cannot recommend The Refinery Hair Lounge enough. I will be back!

My birthday is tomorrow so I planned to get eyelash extensions done the day before (today). While leaving work I got pulled over for my seatbelt and I got a ticket. We all know how long cops take to write tickets. While I was pulled over I called her and told her I was going to be late. I showed up at 2:20 for my 2 o'clock apt and explained what happened. She touched up my powder brows and added in a few natural looking strokes near the ends. Her work is fantastic and I am very happy with them. She provided detailed care instructions and sent me home with everything that I needed. Her prices are very reasonable and she is easy to chat with. She also offers additional services like lash extensions and lifts, tinting, and some aesthetician services. I did also get my lashes lifted and tinted and I loved how perky they were. Shelby always remembers my family and asks how they are doing. Denise also asks and they both are just so kind and neither have a bad bone in their bodies. And since I live in Lexington, she always makes appointments work for me. And Shelby also waxes eyebrows and does it fairly painless. Excellent work as always! And she does Keratin smoothing treatments about twice a year to my hair. Really helps when I straighten my hair and keeps the frizz down in my hair significantly. My coworker loves Denise, and despite the fact that she's had several bad experiences (late,…read morecanceled, missed cutting areas of her hair and had to go back, scheduled multiple people at the same time), I decided to get a blowout Groupon. The first visit I scheduled with Denise, but did not find out I was seeing another stylist until I got there. It appeared Denise had scheduled someone else that was overlapping my appointment. Luanne was kind enough to volunteer to do my hair to help Denise, unfortunately it was apparent she had never done a true blowout. I could tell because she was asking Shelby how to use the curling wand. That was probably my sign to leave, but I thought I would give her a chance. Although Luanne was nice, she did a terrible job. She was very rough when using the round brush on my hair - it's surprising that I had any hair left. She dropped the blow dryer on my head and the curling wand. She tried to style my hair so it would look nice the next day, and didn't even bother to ask if I had somewhere to be that night (which I did). Evidently her arm or hand gives out occasionally - which makes me wonder why she's still doing hair. The blowout was not a true blowout and looked terrible. By the time the appointment was over, I was hungry and wanted to get the heck out of there and to my dinner, so I just gritted my teeth and told them it was good. I texted Denise later showing her there were sections of my hair without curl and after some back and forth she agreed to give me a do-over after Derby. She was VERY difficult to deal with, even tried to blame everything on me. Denise also explained to me that the blowout Groupon is for only straight hair. (This was not in the fine-print of the Groupon.) She said they canceled the blowout Groupon due to the misunderstanding of what a blowout is. In another text she even said she doesn't take Groupons - how does that even make sense? When I first got my Groupon in Feb, I made an appointment for June. Two days before my appointment she asked if I could come at a later time, but I couldn't. She then proceeded to tell me to show up early or on-time because she was going to have to work me in between her 530 - basically she was going to work on me while her color customer was processing. Evidently Denise cannot figure out how to make a schedule. While I am always on-time or early to my appointments, I decided to cancel since I don't prefer to share my appointment with someone else. She believes it's perfectly acceptable to work on multiple people at one time. I prefer to have the sole attention of the stylist. I canceled my June appointment and went ahead and got a full refund from Groupon ($55). Overall, I would not recommend ANYONE to come here. Denise was very difficult to deal with and you might have to share your appointment with someone else.

Groupon is issuing my refund because I did not want to reschedule again just to possibly get cancelled again. Buyer be warned.
