Be well prepared coming here and knowing exactly what you want, because it got intensely overwhelming for me. Had to revisit with a clean slate and start all over again after revisiting a bunch of houses and model homes prior to our second visit. It's two hours each, but those two hours go by super quick when you're bombarded with decisions on top of decisions. It's almost insane and dumb at the types of things you are making decisions for. The lady who helped me was fairly patient... She didn't say very much but facial expression and body language when asking her if I could change something was not something I looked forward to seeing. I get there are difficult and complicated clients, and by all means I was not trying to be... I'm just new to this home building process and hope she should know to be more patient with me. I ended up giving her a good survey just because I felt bad for her, and because she clearly bit her tongue for a $30 gift card. Though I just wish she would have been slightly more helpful rather than agreeing to everything as she was trained to not give her personal opinion. I could have chose everything super ugly and she would have still told me how nice everything was. So again, prepare yourself and look at as many color schemes and houses prior to visiting the design center. It will get intense. read more

We have been living in a 3 year old Perry home since January and in June could the house would not cool below 74 degrees. After numerous AC compani tried to address it the original AC installation company was sent by Perry and found that the unit had missing parts in the attic that were never installed. Perry comes out and says the that not correct and try's to ignore the issue. So now it's July in Houston in a new home that won't cool and no solution. This design center is really useless and the agent is unprofessional, it not worth any star review. I took two photos for my desire kitchen style, and the assistant told me none of two design that can be selected, they don't have any color of them in the options which is easily find in Walmart and Home depot. I find similar color in their official website, and Jennifer, the agent in Houston design center, told me that color is only for Dallas, not in Houston( aren't them both in Texas?) In terms of flooring, we upgrade the flooring to tile in living room and wishing to put wood in dining room and library. Jennifer told us that we only can put wood flooring in library and the flooring in dining room must be the same tile with living area, however, I find out that there do wood flooring in library and dining room in their module home. They put wrong flooring in our contract that I desired flooring in dining room, and the foremen asked us if we would like to changed the tile to wood, need to go to desire center to change order. That means i can choose wood in very beginning, but the assistance said no. The worst part is that person told me that " it doesn't rally matter what color you chose in the house, the real matter is about your décor." The choice of every item is limited, I gave up any choice which I prepared and looking for item from their "official website Gallery." I chose at least four to five items and the assistance tole me that they don't have any of them. ask me to pick up from the items in their small center. read more

I took the woman who sold me my house with me to the design center. I got help from the Perry Homes designer but, my sales agent was an expert at designing and her assistance with this process was invaluable. If you get a chance to work with Tyler Dixon at the Humble home models, you will get a designer home. I went over these $10,000 credit Perry offered but the money I am spending is well worth it. Tyler knows her stuff, this was her job before she's started selling homes. I liked my choices but when I finished making my selections she went behind me and showed me how to make it better. Would give 10 stars if I could. Just be aware that these are not Home Depot or Lumber Liquidator prices. Our Designer was a very pleasant and professional expert who was extremely knowledgeable. We were working with Gehan Homes and spent the day before with our Design Center appointment with our Sales Consultant, Teasha, working on-line to make selections. When we were done we thought we would breeze throughout 4 hour consultation. Not so. The vast choices were overwhelming. My husband & I were fighting about every choice. Our designer was listening to us and then would bring us 2 or 3 design choices that we both loved. She managed miracles, bringing us compromise choices that were always better than the ones we were fighting for. She had the three of us working together because she had figured out out style and knew where to find great samples in various price groups. She did this over and over until we finished with a home that we were really excited about. Better than we ever dreamed possible.Turned out to be so exciting and fun. We could never have done it alone. Very happy with the experience. read more

I had two appointments for my new home design with Edna last week in Houston. First of all, I called and requested back-to-back appointments on Wednesday and Thursday as I flew from out of state, trying to save hotel costs. Charlotte scheduled them for me right away. She was so nice and squeezed me in with the time slots I requested in short notice. Edna has a lot of experience in new home design, she guided me through the whole process seamlessly, providing me her professional opinions and recommendations. On September 15, 2017 we arrived at the Design Center for our 4-hour appointment ready to select design options for our future Perry home. Previously, we were instructed to provide our prefilled options list to stay on track; however, the options list was never reviewed or discussed. I felt as though the tone was quite condescending and I was restricted from exploring at all. I asked questions and with every look and every question, I was told, "We're not there yet. We'll get to that later." Sometimes, later did not come and my questions remain unanswered and I was not able to fully examine my choices. When I was asked about particular differences in upgrades, most answers were, "It depends on your floor plan. You'll have to ask your project manager." I would expect the experts to be familiar with differences between standard and upgrade options if they're expecting me to make an immediate selection. I wasn't given freedom to look at the selection of most things besides flooring and that is only because I insisted on browsing them myself. I could not tell you what standard bathroom granite, tiling, backsplash, shower, flooring, etc. look like. I expected much more as far as selection and being able to see my options. Everything was preselected for me. When selecting flooring I informed the assistant we would choose carpet for the time being and maybe install wood flooring at a later date. I was informed, "Customers say they're going to do things all the time. Whenever I see their homes listed for sale, they never do the work. You must pay all these fees. Are you aware of what that entails?" I find it quite insulting to assume I do not follow through on my plans and I am unaware of the process. On the topic of flooring, when selecting carpet, I wasn't shown standard options and when I attempted to ask for my options concerning the standard color options of carpet, I had to dig through the samples myself. I was first presented with a level 6 carpet and level 3 padding. My husband and I communicated we would like to keep standard carpeting for the time being. I was informed, "Standard carpeting is not durable and the padding falls apart. You will be replacing this carpet within two years. Are you sure?" I was met with complete opposition anytime I suggested I would like to keep standard options. When I am told the standard options for flooring will not last and will need to be replaced within 24 months of building a $350,000 home, I lose my confidence in the brand. If standard design options are not durable and/or built to last, why should I confide in the building material used to complete my home? These remarks tarnish the quality and brand of Perry homes and leave an uncomfortable amount of doubt concerning quality. It felt as though the assistant was only interested in showing upgraded options and became frustrated when we would ask to use standard designs. Another unsettling experience with the Design Center was the overall customer service and respect. As I was exploring tile, my assistant picked up a sample left on a nearby table to show contrast between the flooring selected. The assistant previously working with the tile very rudely told us that tile was being used. Our assistant apologized and explained we were only using it for a moment to which the other assistant exclaimed she should pick it up and put it back on her table. Now, I'm fearful of examining any options that may be laid out on another table and this has limited my selection even further. At the end of our second session, we experienced another quarrel between assistants. One woman could not find a particular cabinet and accused my assistant, my husband, and myself of "stealing" it. The sample was sitting on the floor in front of tile options, untouched by any of us and the assistant picked it up without any apologies to our party. Obviously, there are issues within the workplace that are spilling onto the floor and affecting the customers and I believe this should be addressed in addition to respect and courtesy toward the customer. At one point I began crying because I became so overwhelmed. The design assistant didn't skip a beat to allow me to collect my thoughts. Just continued with yes or no questions. I wrote an formal complaint weeks ago that went unanswered until today. I received a message from my builder rep stating my detailed complaint and perspective of my designer has been captured. Moving forward, I should only contact him to discuss the matter and the goal is to focus on current opportunities to start off the new year right. No apology. Just another insult and basically instructions to shut up about it and my complaint was unreasonable. I'm regretting choosing Perry Homes at this point if this is what customer service is to them. read more

The Design Center in Dallas has the rudest and most condescending staff ever. We were so excited to pick and choose designs for our first home but it actually became a nightmare. I guess we were unlucky because as we walked around we noticed the staff the other couples had were super nice and helpful and the lady we got was very intimidating. It's sad because now we are going to have this horrible memory forever, whenever we see our bathroom tile and other things we picked we'll always remember the limited time we had and how we had to settle with any design. It was a humiliating experience and I almost cried. Please make sure to make an appointment with the right person because this lady was horrible. read more

The design center is very small and dissapointing. They have very , very FEW selections on most of the things in your house. Lots of tile selections however Only 3 colors of paint. Not many colors of granite, or light fixtures, or bathroom fixtures. Very few upgrades to select. I have heard other builders have many more options and choices to select from. Also, we never got the stainless microwave they showed up at the design center. And the stair railing she said we would get, they later said we won't get it. You get 4 free hours of time in the center, to pick out options. It sounds like plenty of time, but its not and when you go over the time, they charge you another 250 dollars an hour to finish. And you have to pay it if you want to be able to finish going thru the options for your house. And IF you have to add ANYTHING, later on, they charge you another 250 dollars, for a 5 minute visit to say ,please add this other option. Even if it takes 5 mintues of paperwork. read more
