In my humble opinion this is the BEST place on block island to get coffee and breakfast items. They have a few vegan options on their menu which is incredible! Wish they had more vegan pastries if course, I didn't get any either day I went. They had a vegan cow poke type cookie but I skipped it and went for the vegan just egg breakfast sandwich. Okay the blackberry syrup is TO DIE FOR I keep thinking about it! UGH I wish I could come here more. To say that this is a favorite of mine would be an understatement. Let's start with the amazing food!! My friend and I stopped in during a very very busy day (Saturday during August!) and ordered sandwiches to go. I tried half of a Ti Penso and half of the Sun sandwich. Both were delicious but I loved the Sun, it was super flavorful without being heavy and was something I hadn't tried before. The Ti Penso was tasty as well, but definitely felt the Sun won out. The spot is super busy so be warned that the wait times (at no fault of the staff!) are extreme. We got in line at 12:15, ordered at 12:45 and got our food around 1:30. So overall waited over an hour for two sandwiches. However, I imagine if you came during a quiet period it would be a great place to sit inside and read! read more

A must try at block island! the line may seem long but it moves quickly. we were able to grab a seat in doors once we ordered. we ordered a lavender latte and matcha latte - both which were great! the lavender is sourced directly from the island which is amazing. we both got their classic egg sandwich, and it was delicious and perfectly portioned. the prices weren't too bad either - being $37 total with the drinks! Clem, Clems mother, and myself treated ourselves to a dine in. I found my meal to be quite satisfying with the egg sandwich and strawberries and cream. I found the strawberries and cream portion to be very generous. My Sassy Violet drink was quite uneventful in flavor but abundant in visual satisfaction until the end of the drink. Not impressed at all! My wife and I got breakfast sandwiches on English muffins. Neither of our English muffins was toasted (really?! Yes). The scrambled eggs seemed to be microwaved and bland. Portions were really small. We were hungry about 2 hours later. Our sandwiches were much more expensive than the nearby bagel shop, had a much longer wait, and were not nearly as good. After a lot of contemplation I finally settled for the Lala Toast, a thick slice of sourdough slathered with pesto goat cheese and topped with caramelized onions, arugula and of course minus the bacon. This is the kind of dish where you say "I'll just take a few bites and save the rest for later", and then you take a few more bites, and then a few more. This place was so quaint! I had seen it on Tik Tok and couldn't resist stopping by when we landed on Block Island. Luckily they open at 7, so get there early if you can. Why do they ask for a tip BEFORE you find out they are in the weeds and will need a half hour for a smoothie and muffin. My advice, tip AFTER they ensure proper and timely service. The line moved at a decent quip, though we struggled to find seating anywhere, even outside. I ordered a nitro cold brew and the Lala Toast and added an over medium egg. Both were perfection. The sourdough toast was soft but toasted and had perfectly crispy bacon. My egg was made to order and the oozy yolk really complemented the goat cheese and honey. Food 10/10. Room for improvement lies in the efficiency of the layout/ordering process and the limited seating. Getting condiments and napkins after you've ordered is almost impossible when the line is out the door. Definitely worth fighting the crowd though. read more

This is a special place with delicious food no matter what you order. Their smoothies are delicious, especially after a long walk around the island. Their coffee drinks are delicious too. I highly recommend the blueberry lemon ricotta muffins. I left the island thinking I HAVE to try to replicate the recipe. You do pay the tourist tax so it's not cheap and the breakfast sandwich portions are small (think half of a normal sandwich) but it's enough for you to have in the morning to start your day in a delicious way. Stayed on the island for a week, came here three mornings for the same thing... the Lala Toast! Absolutely out of this world. If I'm remembering correctly, I believe it's toast topped with goat cheese, caramelized onions, arugula, and bacon. Definitely going to recreate this at home to the best of my ability, so good. My husband had the egg sandwich, and we tried a couple smoothies, all very good! Make sure you get there before the first ferry arrives in the morning or it will be swamped!! This cute tucked away gem is no longer a newbie on this island. Three summers ago when I first visited it was not very crowded and I fell in love. Every year since then I eat breakfast here almost everyday- and the days I don't are not by choice. The coffee is priced just like on the mainland, so you're getting amazing quality and quantity for a great price. My favorite food items are the simple eggs sandwich, that you can customize- I always add tomato and arugula, and the goat cheese and tomato toast. They sell a variety of merchandise and give a discount if your bring your own cup, they also sell reusable straws! Pro tip: if you're drinking an iced coffee "for here", you can ask that they put it in a ceramic mug so you're not wasting the plastic! I can't stress enough how much I love persephones, and I love that now there is a line out the door, and at 9 am I can be #60 something served.
