This cute tucked away gem is no longer a newbie on this island. Three summers ago when I first visited it was not very crowded and I fell in love. Every year since then I eat breakfast here almost everyday- and the days I don't are not by choice. The coffee is priced just like on the mainland, so you're getting amazing quality and quantity for a great price. My favorite food items are the simple eggs sandwich, that you can customize- I always add tomato and arugula, and the goat cheese and tomato toast. They sell a variety of merchandise and give a discount if your bring your own cup, they also sell reusable straws! Pro tip: if you're drinking an iced coffee "for here", you can ask that they put it in a ceramic mug so you're not wasting the plastic! I can't stress enough how much I love persephones, and I love that now there is a line out the door, and at 9 am I can be #60 something served. So happy for their success, and can't wait to be back! read more

So delicious. Love their morning sandwiches. They run a tight ship and orders are filled quickly. We have no problem getting food allergy suggestions or changes made with no fuss. Sourdough toast sandwiches with fried egg are delicious. Can't go wrong with really any sandwich. They have alternative mills for those who need them for coffee. Muffins and sweets look great. I found this cute little cafe after biking around the entire island. I was just looking for a quick lunch and iced coffee before heading to the beach. It was the perfect place to stop in New Shoreham without a wait, very casual setting plenty of seating and a good selection of pastries, bowls, toasts, salads and drinks. I just had an iced coffee scone to go and a avocado toast. I was able to take everything out and sit in on one of the tables outside. The cherry/chocolate chip scone was large and the perfect thing to pick on at the beach. My coffee was excellent as well. Would definitely come here again for a quick, casual bite! read more

Cute little place a short walk from the ferry. Get off the ferry, walk to Main Street which faces the ferry and go right then follow that road. My hubs got a nitro cold brew and me...an iced chai. cute cafe! this is the place to get breakfast on the island. it's quite popular. they have tables right outside for seating as well. their smoothie bowls are so lovely! i actually didn't expect the smoothie to be cold, which was a great surprise on a warm morning. the fruits were fresh and the granola fresh and crunchy! i got the Buttercup smoothie bowl. it was not heavy nor too chocolately. i absolutely loved it. i'm excited to try the other flavors as well. the pastry looked fresh and inviting in the window. i will definitely be going back for them. read more

What a cute, charming little place! This little cafe/kitchen had a steady line from the time I got there (9:30 am) until I left (10-ish). Seemed very popular and for good reason! I ordered the splendid sandwich on multigrain-egg, cheese, avocado, tomato, arugula, and bacon. Get this sandwich! Wow! I also ordered a slice of the zucchini bread- very moist! I wanted their chocolate covered donuts that looked so fresh and lemon yogurt bread and lemon square and... I wanted everything! This place was great. This kind of place is perfect when you want to eat good food, but only a small amount of it, which is just about my kind of place. It's a no frills place, with a limited menu. Also had limited seating with low couches and tall...counter tables? I get the lack of space, but seating furniture could be better. There was no air flowing in the hot weather, so my friends and I wanted to get out of there fast. Thankfully, they served free ice water by the front. I had ordered their avocado toast with sea salt and radish, with the addition of egg and bacon. I was really hoping for a standard runny egg, but they turned it into an omelette. Had a delicious green smoothie from this cafe, 9 dollars but expected for a super filling smoothie and in Block Island. The cafe is super adorable and has a nice atmosphere. The only complaint I have is that it took over 20 minutes for a smoothie. I totally understand it was busy as the ferry had just landed, but at least for the staff to say it would be a very long wait I wouldn't have ordered. The others in my party had their coffee before even paying...really wanted to stop quick nor spend over a half hour here. We were greeted as one would expect in a cafe, but our experience went downhill from there. The young woman behind the counter had a very aggressive attitude and rudely suggested I should know that they wouldn't have food at 2 in the afternoon (when their posted closing hour is 3pm). Her co-worker attempted to cover for her colleagues poor attitude but our first experience in this cafe was highly off-putting. We then tried just to order drinks but those were all sold out as well. Other people staying in the house with us this week experienced the same attitude from the same young woman. Fix your service, Persephone's Kitchen! Amazing coffees and an abundance of choices for quick food. They have the healthy side of things such as smoothies, granola and fruit but they also have baked goods, egg sandwiches and an array of other things as well. The berry scone may have been the best scone I've ever had, light and fluffy yet crunchy where it needs to be. My little one loved their chocolate chip cookie too! I love coming here for their coffee alone. They make some of the best lattes I have ever had. This last visit I came to Persephone's twice in one day - once for breakfast and once for lunch. I had the breakfast sandwich and a latte for breakfast and enjoyed both. When I came back at lunch time, I had one of the grilled sandwiches and that was equally delicious. I also ordered a smoothie and it was so fresh and very tasty. I love Persephone's Kitchen. I stumbled upon P.K.'s while waiting for friends to get off their ferry. There isn't much in Block Island that qualifies as eclectic but P.K.'s definitely is. The aesthetic is less "nautical" like many other venues and more delightfully funky (check out the wallpaper on the ceiling of the bathroom). The interior of the restaurant is tightly packed but since cellular reception is weak throughout the island the WiFi signal available here is coveted. I got an iced dirty-chai and a raspberry scone and both were delicious. I was able to sit on an outside bench to eat because the inside seats were way too full for a single person to take a table. Prices are normal for a tourist area and not different from what you'd find in nearby Newport. Eager to come back the next time I'm in Block Island. read more

Super tiny coffee shop on the island where EVERYONE goes to get their coffee. There is normally a long line but the efficiency and service they have nailed down to a tee and go pretty quick so don't be intimidated when you walk in. Espresso, cold brews, Kombucha, and smoothies this place has everything and pretty good as well. Coconut and almond milk options are available too They have several types of toast and all are delicious and decent sized portions. My favorite is the avocado toast and the Nutella and banana. Their ranchero quinoa bowls are incredible and so yummy, a fiesta in my tummy it is sure to hit the spot. I tried the blush smoothie and it tasted pretty high in sugar, delicious but sugary. You can make any of your smoothies into a bowl and add granola, fruit, and chia which is a plus. All the baked goods here are delicious and they even have GF/DF options. read more
