Placing your order as well as receiving it correctly is extremely irritating. In two separate occasions, I have received meat on my bagel (I don't eat meat and have never ordered it), and I have received the wrong type of bagel that I have ordered. The employees assume they know what you ordered and do not take note of it, even when it is extremely busy. On top of this complaint, getting my coffee on time is also a big challenge for this breakfast place. There seems to be a misunderstanding as to who MAKES the coffee, as I have once had to ask 4 separate times to receive the coffee that I had paid for, and it seemed to be an inconvenience for the workers there on that day. For my friends who do order meat on their sandwiches, it is constantly incorrect. When they ask for a certain meat, they receive a different one. Definitely not NYC bagels!!!! Bagels were hard and burnt. Cream cheese was watery and bland. After an hour of consumption I had a terrible stomach ache definitely due to the watery tasteless vegetable cream cheese, must have been a few days old. Typically I would of asked for extra cream cheese since they only gave the equivalent to a tablespoon per half of the bagel, However it was so terrible that was more than enough. Never Again!!! I will say that it is a shame that the photo for this awesome Bagel Shop is of the patrons there and not the food that brings me back all the time. A cute Bagel Shop located next to the main grocery store, a hardy trek from the Block Island ferry; you won't be disappointed when you get here as they have an assortment of bagels, coffees, and all your other breakfast needs. The location is small and a little tight but the point is to enjoy the outdoor seating that they offer to enjoy the sun and the Island weather. My sister and I ordered a simple sausage, egg and cheese on an everything bagel toasted to split, the first stop on our many food stops for the day. They can get a little flustered during their rush but drop in when it's not busy or wait outside and enjoy the sun while the rush dies out, either way it'll all be worth it when you are biting into their soft yet flavorful bagels or if a toasted taste is more for you then a savory sandwich will be right for you. read more

This place definitely has the potential to be 5 stars. However, I'm disappointed with the service and the lack of following common health guidelines. I really enjoyed the coffee but the whole experience was kind of a mess. The smoothie machines weren't keeping the product frozen and they were neglecting to inform the customers. The man in front of me was too nice to send back the smoothie (which was now juice lol ... seriously it looked like tomato juice). The bathroom was disgusting. I had to go SO bad but refused to use the restroom in this establishment. Absolutely horrible service!! I went in with a friend and we were going to order separately.. both of us with masks on and minding our own business. when my turn came up, I was skipped and then mocked because the girl behind me wasn't social distancing. The girl working was very rude and unapologetic even though I calmly stated I was there to just order a tea and was following all guidelines and being respectful. I walked out of this place.. very unprofessional! Although I didn't experience the after conversations... my friend says she did tell her coworker that saw this all go down. We hit the shop at a slower time of the morning, but the line moved through very quickly. We got a bagel and cream cheese and a sausage egg and cheese plus two coffee drinks. Whenever I'm in block island, I will always make this my spot for breakfast. I found them my first day here on this trip and was incredibly impressed. I love that unlike many other coffee/breakfast shops these days, they keep it simple... only coffee and iced coffee! So while it's busy there in the mornings, the line moves SO quickly because you don't have to wait for the person in front of you (who doesn't actually like coffee) order an iced-nonfat-vanilla-coconut milk-almond milk-oat milk-sugar free- strawberry-caramel-triple foam-latte-refresher haha! there are 2 sizes of coffee and iced coffee and only 3 possible additives (whole milk, oat milk and almond milk). GREAT call Old P.O. Office Bagel Shop! Their bagels are fresh and soft and they also offer some pre made yogurt parfaits, cut fruit etc. and egg sandwiches (which I did not try so I can't review but they looked delicious and aren't made in a microwave!). I also love that their prices are SO fair. They don't gouge you just because they're a coffee shop in a tourist destination. And the service... wow. Even though they're busy, they take the time to acknowledge their regulars. The guy in front of me this morning had forgot his wallet the day before so he paid double for his order this morning because the day before they let him go without paying! It seemed he was a daily regular but I still found that remarkable. Also, the woman who waited on me yesterday morning (maybe she was the owner? Didn't get her name but she was a little older than some of the other people working behind the counter and had an Irish (I think) accent) saw me when I was paying this morning and stopped to say "hello" and "good to see you again", "beautiful weather" etc. that goes a LONG way in my book. When I got there around 11AM, there were only 5 types of bagels left, but looks like they have up to 12 a day based on all of the empty bins. I ordered the breakfast burrito and it tasted nice and fresh. The tortilla itself was perfectly cooked with that slight crunch to it. The inside- eggs, tomatoes, and avocado were perfectly seasoned. I love that this place is within walking distance from me! The bagels are delicious -- not what you'd find at a Dunkin' Donuts. They're thick, chewy, and full of flavor. Employees are generous with the cream cheese. I've also enjoyed their peach scones and gargantuan blueberry muffins. These baked goods aren't terribly sweet, but I like them all the more for that. Coffee was good. 1 star because I do not eat at an establishment that doesn't follow basic health guild lines. While we initially were going to eat here we decided not to. The counter help was handling money then picking up muffins, bagels and cookies bare handed. Whenever the wife and I was not enjoying breakfast at The Surf Hotel, we would grab something at the Old Post Office Bagel Shop. One poster was right, this place serves quality bagels. They are not just surving just because they happen to be the sole bagel shop on the island. The line was out the door everymorning. There is a method here where the person that takes your order makes everything for you; including your egg sandwiches. There was no dedicated person on the gril, at least mornings I was there. That same person is also responsible for ringing you up. Pretty much they take care of you from the minute you order to the minute you pay. I guess it works. A basic coffee & bagel shop, nothing impressive. Prices a little over the top like almost everything on Block Island. Workers - mostly rude. One didn't want to give me my change and keep it as a tip. My daughter got food poisoning from there. When a recent storm took out the power their credit card machine didn't work properly, which we did not know a head of time, and we asked to take our food and come right back with the cash and they wouldn't allow it. Not even the owner....mind you it was 6:30AM - where the heck would we be going on an island that is only accessible by ferry??
