It basically is one of the vendors in the food hall and you order and eat at one of the shared tables. Has to be as authentic as it gets. They have a pretty good selection. Basically it gives a few choices of what to get. It's got enough things for various flavors and preferences. They have options to get one, two, or three items of whatever. A lot are made with meat but there's some that aren't. It's $12 to get one item. Taro And Squash Fusion was the one for vegans. Items change up daily so keep on checking back. The food hall can have a bad smell like fish but it's not always like this. Also there's some outdoor seating in the courtyard. This allows groups to order from different vendors and eat together in one place. Good place to get some authentic Indian and Nepalese food. It's closed Mondays. There's plenty of things for meat eaters as well as for vegans and vegetarians.

The half chicken plate is such a good deal! The organic chicken half is very large and meaty, and it comes with roasted vegetables and potatoes. Easily 2 meals. Service is very friendly and our cashier let us know it would be 8-10 minutes before our order would ve ready. Some of the other flavors, however, felt a bit heavy--tahini too strong on Shabbos, overly sweet sweet-and-sour noodles, and mini challah rolls that were on the salty side. I tend to prefer more subtle, balanced spices and sauces. That said, I genuinely want to support kosher dining. Since this is the only establishment of its kind on the island, I offer this as constructive feedback meant to help an already meaningful spot get even better.

Located in Nuuanu, just a few minutes by foot from Maemae School, GVB has been offering since 1991, a healthy dining option in a peaceful setting inside ISKCON Hawai'i Temple. They offer an AYCE option weekdays from 11am to 230pm. Upon arrival, my friends and I immediately noticed the calm atmosphere in the beautiful gardens of this Hare Krishna Temple. After paying for our meal we sat down on community long tables in their cozy dining room. The buffet line had a decent selection where standouts were the vegetarian lasagna, assorted curries and the fresh vegetables. Menu offerings change daily where notables include vegetarian lasagna, lentil nut loaf, samosas, quiche, assorted curries and halva. There's also mint ginger water and water offered. Service here is limited as it's pretty much do it yourself. So why only 4 stars? Food was nothing outstanding and the food temperature was not hot as I would have preferred. Eating some dishes such as curries, samosas and papadum would have better if eaten hot. Overall, my friends and I had a great experience here at GVB where I was finally able to try them. This is not a place I'd initiate a get together but wouldn't object if friends wanted to come here. Better late than never.

I have been a customer of The Elephant Shack for approximately two years, and until August 19,…read more2026, I had never had an experience that made me feel unsafe. Unfortunately, after what happened during my most recent visit, I will not be returning. I placed and paid for a large order of chicken wings. When my name was called, I went to pick up my food and learned that my order had accidentally been given to another customer. I completely understood that mistakes happen. The owner initially offered to remake my order, and I told him that was fine and that I did not mind waiting. Instead, his wife went looking for the customer who had received my food. Several minutes later, she retrieved the box from a nearby table where customers were already eating and attempted to give it to me. I politely declined because the food had already been in another customer's possession, and I had no way of knowing whether it had been opened or touched. The owner, Kevin Sutavee suggested that he would remake the food and I said ok, no worries, I was willing to wait. At that point, the situation escalated. The owner, Kevin, refused to remake my food and insisted on giving me a refund because he was busy.  I was confused because he initially offered to remake it but within a moments notice changed his mind. A Venmo refund was attempted but did not go through, and he eventually refunded me in cash. What happened next is why I am writing this review. After giving me my refund and walking away, Kevin turned toward me and stated that he would "smack the shit out of" me. I am pregnant, and hearing a business owner threaten me with physical violence was frightening and completely unacceptable. As he walked back toward the food truck, I also heard him say, "it is always the Black ones." I did not physically confront him. I left the area extremely upset. Another female customer, who I did not know, witnessed a substantial portion of the interaction. She was apparently disturbed enough by how I was being treated that she requested a refund for her own order. She also recorded the physical threats made against me from the owner. After I left, Kevin called me to discuss what happened. I recorded approximately 10-11 minutes of that conversation. During the recorded call, he acknowledged making the threat to "smack" me and acknowledged using racial slurs toward me. He attempted to explain his comments by saying he was "just kidding" and apologized for how he made me feel. I have preserved that recording as well as subsequent text messages regarding the incident. To be clear, I am not upset because my food was accidentally given to someone else. Mistakes happen, and I was perfectly willing to wait for a fresh order. What I cannot accept is being threatened with physical violence and subjected to racially derogatory comments after simply declining food that had already been given to another customer. No customer should ever be made to feel physically threatened or racially targeted by the owner of a business--especially over something as simple as requesting that an incorrectly distributed food order be remade. After supporting this business for approximately two years, this experience completely changed how I view this establishment. I will not return. There is no apology for blatant racism or physical threats that would justify me ever wanting to refer this level of service to anyone. In his response below, you can see for yourself, his blatant disregard for threatening customers and dismissing his own racist remarks. It's not about the chicken Kevin, it's your behavior and disrespect. Seek help.
