Okay, the owner Abbas is an interesting guy. If we all took the same approach to life as he does this world would be a great place. As far as the food goes, it's Pakistani home cooking. I went there only half hungry and split three dishes with a buddy of mine and I couldn't stop eating it, that's how good it is. Abass is the chief cook and candlestick maker. He does it all and he needs your support, His prices are good, and his food is fantastic. Go by and visit him and plan to eat there once a month to support him. Stumbled onto this restaurant last week - it's a little tucked away - but what a find. Operated by a very friendly owner/chef/server/busser. Extremely friendly clientele as well, all ready and willing to make menu recommendations. Though a tad understated, the restaurant has a friendly atmosphere and fabulous food. I had the Chicken Marsala which was nicely spiced and very tender. The naan was freshly made to order and incredibly flavorful. We'll be back again. The Masala Indo-Pak Grill after three years is still a one-man outfit. Abbás Ali Sheikh learned to cook from his mother in Lahore, Pakistan. He offers chicken, beef, and goat meats, in addition to a variety of vegetarian dishes. The meat is halal, and he prepares it in the traditional fashion, breaking the bones. My wife and I, both in our early 80s, arrived late on a Thursday afternoon, and were the only customers there. We had the chicken biryani and the saag paneer, with naan. The biryani was wonderfully spiced with red pepper, black pepper, and a variety of Indian spices we couldn't identify - we found the amount of chili heat was just right, though we're used to a fair amount of that stuff. Servings were big enough that we brought enough home for lunch the next day. No beer or wine license, but you may bring your own. To get there, drive out West Broadway past the Horn of Plenty Market, and turn right at the traffic light at Sandy Springs Road into a small shopping center. We'll be back soon! Truly amazing Indian/Pakistani food. Although the restaurant building itself is quite modest, everything else is amazing. The guy who runs it was happy to describe some of the processes which go into truly AUTHENTIC Indian/Pakistani cooking, and was super friendly. I have eaten Naan "Indian bread" in many countries across the Globe but nothing comes close to this Naan, it's soft, fluffy and melts in your mouth. Vegetarian Samosas are to die for. Channa Masala are perfectly cooked and very healthy. All the ingredients used are fresh and very mouth watering. Vegetarian Okra is very delicious too. Very good Indian-Pakistani restaurant. They have a menu featuring butter chicken, masala chicken, grilled items, and several vegetarian options. The lentil dall and the okra dish were very tasty. Don't be put off by the low-key atmosphere. Despite being humble, the food is very good and the owner is extremely welcoming. He is running this business as a one-man operation and doing everything. With COVID impacting restaurants, he said it was very tough for him and he's had some hard times. Please show him some support. The food is genuinely very good and I'm not being charitable with my review. But, beyond the food, I see that he is pouring his heart into this business and serving customers. Okra Masala--obviously at least a couple of days old...obviously microwaved (incredibly hot with cold spots)...okra was basically creamy...sauce was coagulated. I asked the owner when it was made and the answer...was unclear, even after I said it was obviously refrigerated / nuked. It was even served in a plastic, microwave safe dish (like how a frozen meal comes). I extend a lot of latitude to small business--but it was horrendous and he was entirely unapologetic...offered to "warm it up, more." I've been there a half dozen times and never been disappointed. The menu has changed several times since opening which has been a good thing. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is, for me at least, it's pretty much a take out only kind of place. There are a couple of tables but when I have been there, it's just the owner/cook. I was recommended to this place by my colleague and especially their bread. I decided to go for dinner and the place was empty. The owner greeted me in and asked me to eat here or to go. He was so friendly he recommend me to have chicken curry with naan and said he just prepared it. He picked up some fresh dough and prepared the naan right in front of me. The currry also tasted very fresh spices and mild heat. The chicken was very tender and juicy. They don't have a lot of items on the menu and specialize in few things. Though made fresh, our meals, 3, arrived quickly. I will work my way through the menu. The fellow behind the register is the chief cook and bottle washer, waiter and busboy. It is a one man show and has been for two years. We were the only ones there at lunch time. Since we were asking for suggestions, he volunteered that he had no customers for two days earlier in the week. This place should be full at all times with a line waiting to get one of the 4 tables. The chicken was fall off the bone tender and delicious. The butter chicken seemed like a slightly bigger portion and was also tender and delicious. The naan bread was a good size as well and tasty. Hats off to the man who runs this restaurant for doing it all himself. Definitely support a local business and try the food here! It wasn't as spicy as I thought it would be and was perfect! This is a very small place with three tables within feet of the kitchen, and absolutely zero effort to make it appealing (e.g. pictures or decorations on the walls). So it is a poor choice to eat there. Obviously the owner intends food for take out. Owner seems very nice. The chicken tikka was a nicely grilled leg and attached thigh on a styrofoam plate with a little cup of some type of sauce. But the chicken itself was tasty. Served with a plate-sized piece of very fluffy white naan that was quite a bit like pizza dough. Warm and filling, but not especially flavorful, as naan goes. The chicken masala in a very, very mild sauce basically had little taste and the texture of having been boiled for quite awhile. We love Indian food in general, and wish we could promote this small business. Based on the other reviews, maybe we hit it on a bad night. read more
