I can't believe I never have posted about this spot before. It is definitely one of my favorite Indian restaurants ever. I fondly recall the owners from one of the first Indian restaurants in Nashville called Cuisine of India near Hillsboro Village. I loved it that they opened this location in Donelson and have been coming here for some of the best versions of your traditional Indian food selections and some of their own unique spins for as long as they've been open. One tip is that if you can make it out for a lunch buffet, they are so much more generous than some other restaurants with their variety of selections which always includes at least three or four vegetarian options and in addition to the traditional chicken options there's always at least one other meat like a lamb or a fish. This evening that I'm finally writing my review and posting a photo I had their shrimp saag which is a tried and true standby. Interestingly they also offer a salmon and a mahi-mahi option as dinner entrees from the tandoori oven. And the mahi-mahi could be an option to be included in certain curries like the korma and the masala. Then at the end of the meal there is always a debate in my head between the rice pudding and a mango lassi but I also have seen that they just now added a pistachio ice cream and I'm sure that is fabulous. read more

This nondescript restaurant near the Nashville airport is a gem. I adore Indian food, and try some every time I go to a new place. The hours are a bit wonky as they don't open until 5 for dinner, but the service more than makes up for that. I was quickly greeted and was promptly brought some "chips" with a tamarind and mint chutney to dip them in. I didn't care for them but since they were free they're not part of the review. The building is in a strip mall, and parking is sparse to say the least. The exterior is adorned with bright colored lettering, but the inside is a more modern chic Indian design. I did not notice any music playing and that's ok. I ordered garlic naan and a Goan Chicken Curry. The naan was the lightest and fluffiest naan I've ever eaten, but it still held up to dipping into the rich, thick Goan Curry. I asked for very spicy and the heat was medium at best, but the flavors were bold and delicious. read more

The Sindoore we knew from the past seems Back! This used to be our place for good vegetable biryani and curries, there was a brief period maybe a year or two ago that we felt the quality of food changed and we stopped coming here. But we are so glad to have given this place another try today, it was amazing! The Gobi Manchurian, chapati, vegetable biryani (with the exceptionally good raita), paneer kurma and the bhindi. Absolutely loved it. Also the gulab jamun and kulfi. I've tried probably every biryani place in Nashville, and this is hands down the best in this city. The customer service is top notch always. My 6 year old who is the biggest food critic born, happily ate the chapati and mild Gobi Manchurian. That's usually testament in itself of the quality of flavors here. Love it and so glad! read more

I'm so disappointed I ordered EXTRA spicy chicken tikka marsala and received one of the mildest I've ever had! (not to be rude, but Campbell's tomato soup comes to mind) I really hope this isn't the best Nashville has to offer for Indian food. I recently moved back here after being in New York, London, Mumbai. So I do have high standards. Granted it was 20 minutes before closing when I put in the order, but if you're not able to provide quality at that time, you shouldn't accept the order on Uber eats. Not if you want to maintain your reputation as being one of the best in town. I went through my pantry to add any spice I could for heat. Even after that, I certainly didn't need the raita. If I had to guess, this was not made to order and no effort was made to spice it up. I bet they pulled it directly out of the leftover lunch buffet. read more

Wow..was staying near the airport off I-40 and decided to check out local restaurants nearby. Found Sindoore which was only a couple miles from the hotel. What a find. First of all if you're really not looking, you will drive past this gem. It's in a small little shopping strip that quite literally if you blink you'll pass it. The weather was raining pretty good when we ventured out and upon our arrival there were only 3 other table occupied. So we figured a slow night. Could not have been more wrong. Carry out/delivery service was very steady and within an hour the restaurant itself was around 70% filled. I certainly know why even in bad weather people make the trip to Sindoore! On to our meal. We decided to get an appetizer and actually something different than the normal samosas we like to order. We ended up ordering the Pani Puri. What a wonderful surprise these puffed semolina, stuffed with potatoes and garbanzo beans, served with mint and cilantro water were just delightful. Next we ordered our mains, chicken vindaloo and butter chicken with a side of regular and garlic naan. I order my vindaloo spicy, which was one level down from what the waiter told us was their hottest level. My wife ordered the butter chicken, with no spice and they were able to accommodate her request. Our main and a large bowl of basmati rice arrived in about ten minutes. Both dishes were great! Mine could have been hotter, but I was still very happy with my order. My wife's, no spice was perfect as well. Both were more than enough for our meal, especially with the naan, which was great as well. The naan had a slight char on one side and with the garlic it was perfect along with my vindaloo. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to come back to Sindoore the next time we re in Nashville. read more

This restaurant is a hidden gem. My husband and I get takeout from here all the time, we live in Donelson and their food is always fresh and fantastic. Today, I met an old friend for lunch and we dined in, the restaurant is small, but charming and we had the best service! Noor was our server and we were so well taken care of! He was at our table just enough to be sure we were well cared for, not hovering or bothersome (you know those types!) he made suggestions for menu items and was just all around delightful. We were staying at a nearby hotel on the way home from vacation and stopped in on a Tuesday night. This place is great, I would go often if it was local to me. The service is friendly, fast, and just the right amount of attentive. They seem to be doing a brisk business with people dining in and carrying out. They bring complimentary papadum chips with sauces to start - a nice touch! We split samosa chaat, lamb karahi with lots of tender meat, and a lightly sweet kashmiri naan. All were really delicious. I called Sindoor in Nashville to ask if they had a seekh kabob roll. The person on the phone told me they did. As someone from the Indian community, when you say "kabob roll," it clearly means the kabob comes wrapped in a paratha or naan. When I picked up my food and returned to my hotel, I was excited to eat--only to open the box and find just the seekh kabob, with no paratha or naan at all. I called back to ask why, since I had specifically ordered a kabob roll, and the person told me, "Kabobs are round, so they're roll." That response honestly annoyed me. If he had told me the truth from the start, I would've ordered naan with it. On top of that, the kabobs were cold on the inside and had almost no flavor. Overall, a very disappointing experience. I won't be going back, and I definitely do not recommend this place. read more

Unfortunately, after previously recommending this restaurant with flying colors, I have to post the review from our experience yesterday. I took my husband out for lunch for his 75th birthday-wherever he wanted to go. The last time we were at this place, it hit all the right spots! We arrived at 1:30. My husband likes their buffet so he can try several different things. The buffet closes at 2:30-more than ample time for a lunch. There was one other person in the restaurant. We walked in and were greeted by a gentleman that briskly asked how many, then waved to a very tight area right at the door. I asked if we could sit somewhere else, as it was a pretty tight spot, and he waved us over to the opposite side of the same area-equally as cramped! I looked at the area, then looked at the guy, and he just walked off. I motioned to my husband, and we went over to an area by the buffet that was not as cramped. The gentleman looked at us rolled his eyes, and mumbled something under his breath. The young woman that was there came over and asked if we wanted the buffet and what to drink. We said water, then I asked my husband if he wanted something else, a lassi, and he said yes so we ordered one. Another gentleman was there and he and the original man walked back and forth a few times. The other man never acknowledged us, the original man shot a couple of dirty looks. There were a couple of Uber food pick ups, and they were greeted warmly , on had a conversation in another language with one of the men and they were quite cordial. We never got the lassi, but the waitress was prompt with refilling our water. The food was just ok-not nearly as flavorful as before , almost to the point of being bland, There was such a big difference in everything from the last time we were there, I asked the server if they had changed management. She was not understanding what I asked , and the Second Gentleman came over and asked what was the question and I asked if they had recently changed management. He said no, he was the owner ( even though both men were not whom we had talked with on our last visit ) He asked if everything was ok, and not wanting to make my husbands birthday lunch anymore uncomfortable than it already had been, it said we were ok. My husband went to the restroom and I paid the Second Gentleman. I then told him why we had come, and how the First Gentleman had acted. He tried to comp our meal, but I insisted on paying. He offered a free Lassi, which I also declined, as he wanted that with his meal. I told him I was not trying to be difficult, but he had an almost empty restaurant that was closing at 2:30 until dinner service at 5:00. All of the tables in the restaurant had already been turned for dinner ( new dishes and a menu on top of the dishes, not a difficult turnaround ) the second gentleman said the other man "was busy doing something " was why he acted like he did. While the second gentleman did make effort to rectify, the animosity the first man displayed was inexcusable! I had recommended this restaurant as recently as the previous Saturday to some friends! But even if the food was as good as it previously had been ( and it most definitely was not), the feeling of not being wanted in the restaurant took away my appetite- I didn't even finish my plate. Guess there was as a good reason there was only one person in the whole restaurant! Oh, and we were driving away at 2:25-before the restaurant closed! Well hello there, new go-to Indian takeout spot. Before I rave about how incredible Sindoore's food is, I first have to shout out their extraordinary customer service! My husband and I decided to place an order for delivery through Sindoore's website on a Friday night. Their delivery service is through DoorDash, and we had to deal with the very unfortunate circumstance of our food never actually arriving at our doorstep. Whether the Dasher couldn't find our home, or just decided they'd rather enjoy our food for themselves ... we missed out on our meal on Friday night. Although this was a regrettable situation, I want to emphasize that this had nothing to with the restaurant and everything to do with that particular Dasher. The Sindoore team went above and beyond to ensure that we received a refund for the food we did not receive ... going back and forth with us and DoorDash all weekend long over phone calls and text. A few nights later, we decided to give it another try. Instead of ordering delivery, my husband went to pick up our order directly from the restaurant (which is probably what we'll be doing from ANY restaurant for the foreseeable future!) We had zero issues with this - our food was hot and ready at the exact time promised! We ordered a little bit of everything ... Butter Chicken, Potato Korma, Samosas, Vegetable Pakora, and plenty of Garlic Naan. Everything was incredibly delicious! The Butter Chicken was creamy and balanced, the Korma was warm and spice-forward, the Samosas were crisp on the outside and pillowy on the inside, and the Pakora was perfectly fried. I almost don't blame that DoorDasher for stealing our original order ... almost. I can't wait to work our way through the entire Sindoore menu - and absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a hearty, comforting meal! read more

The food is the best Indian food in Nashville, and as good as what I've had pretty much anywhere in the world (including London and Delhi). The atmosphere is casual but nice. The last few visits I have been served by the amazing Noor - his charm, attention to detail and friendliness has elevated the experience from great to above great. They share a lot with several other businesses. Also the waiting area is extremely small. Only about 4 chairs. I discovered this place by doing Uber Eats delivery. Part of the pluses of doing Uber Eats is discovering new restaurants. Well I marked this one for follow up and it did not disappoint. My go to is the tikka masala. The flavor is so good. Wow, what an unexpected gem in Nashville! My friend and I stopped by Sindoore on our way out. This place is close to the airport. When I think about Nashville, I don't think about Indian food. However, the heart wants what the heart wants - so it led us here. Service was great. Owners respected the fact that my friend has a service animal even though I think one of their staff members initially was a bit hesitant to let us in, understandably. The restaurant wasn't that crowded during the time that we went which was the early afternoon. Service was quick and professional. Everything looks inside like a standard indian restaurant would look anywhere else in the states. We both ordered the same thing - some type of lunch special or thali. Ordered through Grub Hub, so probably more pricy than visiting the restaurant. I am ONLY commenting on food because I am not qualified to comment on service nor ambience since it was a delivery. For 2 and a half people, we spent around $100 for 2 entrees, 2 drinks, and 6 sides. Didn't realize rice came with each dish. We were SO hungry, having been on the road for hours, and probably ordered more than we needed to. In any case, despite the price, we will still have enough leftovers for at least 1 more meal so the cost will even out. The vegetarian samosa were too salty for me, but my husband enjoyed them.
