Love this little coffee shop! It's great to have a little play area for my son but I even visit without him to study!

My second visit here and I just adore this cafe! Our waitress was so sweet and gave us some good food recommendations. This time I tried the blueberry latte and Parisian bagel. All delicious. Excited to see their expanded menu. Can't wait to come back to try the new dinner options!

A KID'S PLAY AREA seriously blown away. Wish more cafes would adopt this idea. Wow, so in love with this cafe & can't wait to visit again. It's decorated cutely with lots of different photo worthy seating areas. As for the Açaí bowl, I ordered the Beast Mode Bowl. Absolutely loved all the toppings. The smoothie portion was too sweet/too mangoy for my liking but it was still delicious. Next time I'm here, I'll try their lattes & the other Açaí bowl. Highly recommend! Especially kid

I've been coming here for years for breakfast and brunch and it is truly a local gem. Recently they have added dinner as well! 5-7pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Dinner can be ordered prix fixe or a la carte, and they also have a kid's menu. With generous portions, dimmed lights, and the play area available, this is a perfect spot for parental date night. No reservation needed! Just stop by. The staff is so friendly and attentive, the space is clean; and with appealing drink and food options, you definitely need to check this place out for breakfast, brunch, lunch AND dinner!

This cafe is a hidden gem, perfectly blending a relaxing atmosphere with a kid-friendly play area and delicious baked goods. Recently, they've started offering weekend dinner nights, and it's been a game-changer. You can enjoy a multi-course meal with a special someone while keeping an eye on your kids, who'll be happily occupied in the play area nearby. The atmosphere is surprisingly peaceful for a family spot, and the quality of the food never disappoints. Our daughter absolutely loves coming here, and honestly, so do we. There's something so refreshing about being able to enjoy a good latte and light snacks while our little one plays safely nearby. This has easily become our go-to spot, whether for a relaxing stop before church or a cozy dinner out of our way--and we have no regrets. For anyone on the Peninsula looking for a family-friendly cafe experience that doesn't compromise on quality or atmosphere, this place is a must-visit. You won't be disappointed.

The Persnickety Crane Cafe is a great place to have breakfast, lunch, or just a snack with a friend while your kids get to play, as they are definitely family friendly! Tucked in the back of a strip mall, this cafe really surprises you with the amount of space inside to sit comfortably and boast a huge children's play area, as well as clean restrooms, and super friendly staff. Our lunch/brunch consisted of the London Bagel (good but way too much cream cheese), the Breakfast Burrito (Made Veggie Style), iced Serene Bee Lattes (Honey cardamom-these were delicious!), and the children's Mini-Charcuterie Board (So adorable and just the right size). There were several people using the Wi-Fi, and they are willing to host meetings for you, which is a great option for small groups. A cute cafe area had just opened, which gives customers another option to order just baked goods and coffee without having to wait in the long line in the main room. A great place to relax and enjoy a wonderful treat!

Since Sophia and I had the day off work observing President's Day, we headed here for breakfast. The last tume we were here was back in September where I had a Dirty Chai and Next Level Breakfast Bagel, which was fufilling. Would this be any different? Upon entering, we ordered right away at the counter. I chose the Persnickety Mocha Latte for coffee and the Muesli Mug, which is a full collections of ingredients. Whole grain wheat, oats, rye and barley with dates, raisins, almonds, flaxseed, chia seed, sunflower seeds, dates, walnuts, honey, milk and Greek yogurt. Like I said.....a whole lot. First, the coffee. Very rich with flavor. I'm a mocha guy so this one fit my taste buds just right. Now, the mug itself. The amount of ingredients may say this is overdoing a meal, but everything came together here. It was flavorful with every bite. Truly surprised I enjoyed it myself. Sophia had a cold brew and Next Level breakfast bagel where she gave it a thumbs up. Definitely not a bad start for the day. Warm and welcoming for the both of us. As usual, we will return :)

My oldest kiddo has a class that lasts exactly one hour in the area - and I needed a place to crash, snag some coffee and wait it out. I stumbled onto the Persnickety Crane Cafe when doing my Yelp search, so I decided to try it out. I've been back several times now. The good: Very charming decor, with a nice kid's play area. Bonus! Wifi is free, always a perk. The food we've had has been very good - the breakfast bagel is probably my favorite, but the french toast is also delicious. Good location with lots of parking makes it easy access. The not-so-good: It's pretty pricey - for two bagels for myself and my toddler, it was $20. For the play area, it evened out since it gave him something to do while we were waiting. In terms of the drinks, I haven't been impressed. Both times I got a coffee drink I didn't care for it, but the tea was good. The menu is pretty limited as well - so you can't really do like a full-on breakfast, but there are a few sandwich options. It's kind of a random mixed bag. Overall, I dig this place, and we'll keep coming back. If you're looking to change up your coffee shop scene, or if you're a mom with little ones who just needs a break - this is a great spot.

Situated right under the York River bridge, not far from the Yorktown museum, is the cutest village. I'm sorry, they can't claim it as part of the original Yorktown but it is cute. There is a lovely river walk...hence the name of the restaurant. They have some of the BEST views in the area being right there. We had reservations however it being the busiest day for restaurants, we had to chill our heels for a few moments before being taken back. I was more than ok with this as we ended up getting a window seat (see above for reference). Thank heavens they put the name of the server in the receipt cuz y'all know my Swiss cheese brain. Cara was the wonderful server who took care of us. She was always there ready for me to get my mum good & spoiled. Super friendly and very helpful. The buffet, it was impressive for a buffet and while not a big buffet, it was specialized. First up were 3 different kinds of salads, then a fruit platter, and bagels & cream cheese. They had a raw bar with shrimp & oysters next, then breakfast stuff (eggs, potatoes bacon etc) mac & cheese, garlic mashed taters & then a carving station with turkey, ham & lamb. Finally a small but respectful dessert table. If you couldn't find something to fill you, you weren't looking. The single sour note of the buffet was the salmon and Mac & cheese. I'll know better next time. Overall the River Walk has come back with perfect timing and style. I highly recommend a visit. Parking is a pain but patience will help

When I found out they were having a set menu for Vday I called the week of and we were able to switch our reservations to Friday February 13th. I downloaded the InKiND app as well and they gave me a $50 off discount if you spend minimum $150. The open table app did have a $20 per person fee for reservations and that will be applied to the final bill. Our reservations were at 4pm and we arrived early and the parking area is ample with a parking garage and some street parking. We started walking to the restaurant at about 355pm. This time of the year seems to slower with ot being cold. Once inside we were greeted by the young ladies up front. We were offered a table or booth and we chose a table. We did sit at a table with the view of the water which was nice. Jason our server came over within seconds to pour us water and take our drink orders. We both wanted sweet tea with lemon. Since we knew ahead of time what we were ordering, we gave our appetizers orderes first. We ordered the soup of the day which was the she crab soup. It is highly recommended. We only ordered a cup and not a bowl because we were unsure of how it tasted. The Caesar salad had no anchovie flavor like we are use to and was just medicore. We ordered the meatballs which had lamb and pork in it. They were juicy, tender and just needed a little more seasoning. The Calamari was fried to perfection for me and could've used a pinch of salt. The sweet tea was everything and I would recommend it. For the main entrees, we chose the shrimp and scallop risotto and the beef braised Ragau. There were two scallops and four grilled shrimp and few asparagus with some chopped up bacon. This dish I highly recommend as well. The beef was tender, seasoned and pasta was cooked perfect. Overall, this is a nice and quiet place to dine at anytime. I would recommend and will definitely return again. Jason was on point with his promptness.

You're not just a customer here; you're a guest. The welcome was immediate and genuine and set the tone for the whole experience before I even sat down. I ordered the brisket sandwich with sweet potato fries, and wow, it delivered. I was surprised the blackberry chipotle sauce worked BERY WELL! Looks like 185 was ranked #87 on Yelp's Top 100 Restaurants in 2023, and after my visit, I completely understand why. I'm not exaggerating. It came out super quick too so they have to be making it ahead and just letting it sit. I had country fried steak, eggs over medium, toast and home fries and a side of bacon. The home fries and steak were lukewarm, the eggs were literally cold like they sat in the refrigerator, the bacon was also damned close to being that cold. The toast was cold as can be, barely toasted, no butter, not cut. I mentioned it to the waitress and she said there is butter on the table. That's it. She really seemed like it was a bother to have to serve customers at all. Maybe I'm just unlucky, but I don't know how this place has any positive reviews at all. I sent my entire meal back but still paid for coffee and the side of bacon (and my sons' meals of waffles and French toast). I didn't want mine remade. Still cost me nearly 50 dollars for this trash, and no offer to make it right other than removing exactly what I sent back. My other and more serious concern is food safety. IF they ARE cooking this ahead and storing it in a way that leaves it cold or room temp, bacteria is a big concern. I'm typing this from the toilet and my stomach is going through it right now. From a few bites of cold food? Maybe.
