I have been going to Persnickety for a few years now and have never been disappointed. They have recently expanded and their is plenty of space inside to dine. It gives true coffee shop vibes. I have only really tried their coffee and muffins even though I always say I am going to try one of their evening events I love their lavender lattes and lemon poppyseed muffins. I love my local family friendly coffee shop. She has thought about her target market and who she caters to. There is a kid play area. Great spots to work and set up laptops, games and always something sweet. The menu has a great choices for breakfast and lunch that has allergy and sensitivity friendly options. The atmosphere is warm and inviting for parents with small children and people who need a friendly spot to work and recharge. I have met new clients there as well as going for my own coffee spot. What an absolute hidden gem; if you love coffee and love supporting local businesses, then you need to visit ASAP. From the moment you walk in, you are welcomed to a wonderful atmosphere. The bright ambiance and beautiful decor is very easy on the eye. Then you're sucked into the glass box of deliciousness... I'm referring to the pastries on display, which are all locally sourced from other small businesses such as Indulge or Justified Bakery and others. I tried the banana bread loaf and was blown away. We were handed samples of the Sublime Berry Açaí Bowl - WOW - so flavorful! Next time, I'm signing up for one of these and a broccoli bacon salad because they look DELICIOUS. I ordered a black coffee and thoroughly enjoyed my cup of joe. The staff were friendly and the owner was extremely welcoming. I love her vision for the coffee shop! My friend wanted to sit in the child play area and I joked she was too old for that - but the owner said "there's no age limit for a reason. We want to provide an environment where older siblings can bond with younger ones." I love this place. Quiet - at the time - cafe in Yorktown with warmth and inviting smiles for everyone but our pup as we and the pup were directed to go back outside. Crane cafe was empty except for half dozen employees, but we're aware not all places are pet friendly. It was too cold at 7:45AM in the morning since the cold snap just snapped in Virginia, so we retreated to the warmth of the car. The food was absolutely FABULOUS!!. I had the coffee whisperer and my only complaint - I should have ordered a large - it was that GOOD and my Next Level Bagel was amazing with plenty of egg frittata, sharp cheddar, bacon and the trimmings AND the house aioli - amazing! So aside from the cool greetings and pet policy - I loved this place. I will go back once the weather is more accommodating for Wellington (aka - the pup)!! read more

This place is amazing! Went for coffee twice and the second time I got one of the huge energy bites...SO GOOD! It was near our hotel so I could take a short morning walk and avoid garbage hotel coffee. The service was friendly and when my drink ended up being a small (I had asked for large), the barista quickly remade it and was super nice about it. Nice little place in Kiln Creek area of Yorktown with a nice menu that includes some vegan baked goods and vegetarian options. Their bagel offerings are many and they are good but could be better with a denser more substantial bagel. The bagel tasted like a Thomas' bagel which is airy with not much too it. The toppings however were fresh and went well with the Blanchard's coffee that they serve. Their bakery selection was sparse but interesting. The oatmeal was also good. First off, I love the name. Inside decor and ambiance matches. Plenty of seating for having a chat or getting some work done. Very cozy, I'm a fan (clearly). Food was amazing and truly has been any time that I've gone. I love the assortment of healthy options. I've tried most of the baked goods (usually accompanied with tea) and the açaí/smoothie bowl. Favorite tea here for the moment has been the matcha . I learned about this cafe from an advertisement on the back of a car window. I then learned that someone in my town owned it that my daughter knows. We stopped for dinner one evening to check it out. The staff was so nice! They were very helpful. They helped us chose items and were so patient. They are fairly clean as well. The tomato soup was great and the acai bowls were so good! I'm totally a fan! I never had one until here. The food came out nice and hot and the fruit was fresh. My husband mentioned he would have liked some chips or a side salad to go with his sandwich. My friend and I met up late morning/early afternoon for the açaí bowls. We weren't disappointed. The staff members were friendly and efficient. The location had a good amount of indoor seating as well as a small table or two out front. The smoothie bowls are were larger than we thought I didn't even finish my whole bowl but it was definitely filling. My berry bowl included chocolate chips, bananas, strawberries, walnuts, chia seeds and also sunflower kernels. I enjoyed that my bowl was fresh and tasty! You really can't go wrong with any of the items on the menu the pastries looked delicious. If I'm in the area again visiting I'd definitely stop in for another sweet treat. My whole experience with your company was the worst I've ever had in my entire life. I inquired about the matcha latte before I ordered it. It was highly recommended by the staff. One of my hobbies is to have matcha latte everywhere I go. This by far the worst matcha latte I ever had. It looked like swamp water; it smelled like old mildew; and it tasted rancid. I took my drink back and asked for a new one or alternate. Then, the staff refused. They said they would not replace the drink and that I would have to pay them again if I want anything else. The drink was already over priced at the $7 price point, but since they refused to replace the drink or issue a refund, I have been left completely ripped off. This is a lovely gem in the neighborhood. Not only can we get a fantastic cup of coffee and delicious pastry... but it has a relaxing atmosphere. (Note: this place has gotten pretty popular, and has some rush hours on weekend mornings that may not feel as relaxing). The play area for kids is a bonus. We can eat and drink while our little one can play with new toys and other children...within sight. We have been here a few times and were surprised today by an extra bonus. The staff put on a puppet show for the kids when the traffic slowed down around! The kids loved it. Food: the almond croissants are amazing and chock full of almond filling. Based on the ambiance and the food quality I would probably give it four stars, but I went with three because it is so expensive and service was a little slower than I expected. I don't think I've ever seen a place charge $5 for a drip coffee, and the breakfast sandwiches are all probably $3 (or more) more than they would be anywhere else.
