I've tried a number of chiropractors over the years, and I haven't like most of them. The only one I trusted was in Norwood, a considerable distance from me, so I rarely went and suffered as a result. So I thought I would give Personal Care Chiropractic a shot when I saw the sign as I biked by. Dr. Nick Stamoulos has been great. I've been there 5-6 times already, and he's done a great job. He adjusts me every bit as well as the Norwood doctor, but even more thoroughly. He has a strength in his hands that I find comforting, like feeling that everything he's doing is controlled and within his power. Does that make sense? He also has provided stretches for me, some posture advice, and takes an active interest in my exercise regimen. I sought out Dr. Nick for lower back pain. Having already consulted with my "regular/traditional" doctor and being told that "nothing could be done", I sought out an alternative. After much research of both alternative treatment modalities as well as providers, I chose Dr. Nick. He is experienced, compassionate, and an expert in the chiropractic field. For those (like myself) who may be considering a chiropractor for the first time, I encourage you to take the leap. Dr. Nick will give you an extremely thorough initial consultation and then start right into your customized treatment plan. He is experienced in a great variety of treatment methods and often applies several of them in one appointment. Traditional medicine can often be ineffective for back pain (as it was for me), and for other types of joint/muscle pain. In my case, my regular physician sent me off with only a recommendation to take Tylenol (which didn't help). I also have known several acquaintances over the years who have had surgery for back pain, with some experiencing no change and one even being worse post-surgery. Before giving up (or considering something as radical as surgery) I encourage you to give chiropractic treatment (and specifically Dr. Nick) a try. I have only just started treatment, and am already feeling improvement. Although I will update this review when my treatments are complete, I recommend that you call for a consultation and get started. I had some strong persistent lower back pain that completely resolved in 4 visits. This was due to a combination of the adjustments and spotting where I was causing my own discomfort and making the recommended changes. This was a major breakthrough for me. I can exercise and live more confidently without the uncertainty of how I am getting pain in my back or an injury happening. There's a lot of variances between chiropractors and I've seen Dr. Nick's approach be geared towards handling the cause. That is the winning approach in any start towards healing. I visited Personal Care Chiropractic and Massage today, Friday, October 9, 2020 for my 1:30 massage appointment with Markley, one of the providers there. It started normally, completely covered by a sheet, with compression all the way around my body. However, soon Markley began massaging too lightly. It became uncomfortable because he was going so slowly. It felt creepy. I asked him to please put more pressure into it. He did the opposite. He literally stayed lightly touching the heel of my foot for 15 minutes. It was like he went into a trance, and forgot what he was supposed to be doing. Maybe he thought I wouldn't notice if he stayed touching my heel too lightly for 15 minutes. Maybe he thought I wouldn't say anything. But I stopped the massage entirely, sat up and nicely asked him if he was doing OK or if he maybe had something on his mind and we should reschedule. He wouldn't admit that he was touching me too lightly. Instead he became defensive! He blamed me, and said I was crazy. I saw him last week and he was perfectly normal giving a good amount of pressure and moving around my body at a normal pace. So I know for a fact he was not being honest. I choose to leave the appointment. I don't want a person working on me who doesn't want to work or can't work. It's a waste of my valuable time and money! I don't recommend taking a chance on Markley. Ever. I never will. The Chiropractor at the office is a very good doctor. read more

As you can read by the passive-aggressive nature of the chiropractor's response to my review, I do NOT recommend this practitioner. I've never met someone like Dr. Nick who openly degrades the Masshealth network, and effectively is offending the patient, by saying that he gets paid "so poorly by Masshealth" and therefore he doesn't need to waste his effort on you. $25 for a 15-minute appointment is still making $100 for 1 hour, which is a lot more in hourly wage than someone with Masshealth would make. Plus as I wrote, you didn't even spend those FULL 15 minutes treating the patient. My mom told me that she once arrived to her appointment a couple minutes late due to the Masshealth transit shuttle arriving at her pickup location late and you literally completed the appointment in FOUR minutes saying you had to go eat dinner with your daughters. That is highly unprofessional and inconsiderate from the patient's perspective. You shouldn't agree to take a late appointment if you can't afford to spend the time and attention. "Hypothetically-speaking", getting paid $25 for four minutes of "treatment" by processing it through the insurance as a normal appointment sounds like a good pay deal to me. Also, laying a vibrating massaging apparatus back and forth on a patient's back for a few minutes and cracking a few bones here and there is not healing treatment. In my book, this bare-minimal and mediocre effort doesn't translate to "going out of the way to provide a lot of time and care" for the patient. I only set up follow-up appointments because I remember the receptionist continuously calling me to make future appointments and I didn't realize that there were more highly-qualified practitioners, who also accept Masshealth by the way, in the area. read more

Dr.Nick has really been a godsend. Last winter, I found myself unable to walk after a yoga injury. He was able to see me that morning and miraculously get me mobile. He was able to diagnose my knee problem and start to rehabilitate it. Since then, he has personalized my chiropractic care according to my needs that day. Whether I have back stiffness or I want to improve my overall health and mobility, he adjusts to my needs. I love that there is ample parking and everyone is so friendly at the office. I don't understand all these negative reviews. Dr. Nick is the best chiropractor I've ever been to. My only assumption is that the reviewers went in with a false stereotype about what chiropractic care is "supposed" to be, in their own opinions. I went to see Dr. Nick for a second opinion after a different chiropractor quoted me (not kidding) over $3000 out-of-pocket over 5 months to fix my severe jaw pain, neck stiffness, and tinnitus. I might also mention each of those $3k worth of appointments would be only 5 minutes long, hardly enough time for real pain relief. I told all this to Dr. Nick when he was evaluating me at my first appointment, and he promised to make me feel better soon. The initial evaluation took about 30 minutes, mostly him asking about my lifestyle and habits. I was in terrible pain the whole time, but throughout the questions he kept apologizing for the formality and promising he wouldn't forget I needed pain relief -- TODAY. Which I really appreciated. And he kept his word. He made a few simple adjustments on that very first appointment and I left feeling better than I had in nearly 6 months. Now I'm on my seventh appointment and my pain is almost completely gone. He's always been super professional, caring, and thoughtful. He does have a slightly unique approach to his practice, which seems to be a combo of Chiro care and massage therapy. Every appt has started with a few minutes of massaging with a vibrating gun to warm up the muscles and loosen up knots -- then he gets into the adjustments and stuff. It honestly grinds my gears that people have accused him of not being a real chiropractor because of that approach, for three reasons: 1. The massage gun is to help patients!! Think about how runners always do a warmup jog before a big race. They do it to increase blood flow to their muscles, which makes them more flexible and less likely to get injured. Same principle applies with the massage gun. He's trying to keep you from being sore the next day. Just think of it as "A free massage with every appointment." Ungrateful much? 2. So... you booked an appointment at a place called "Personal Care Chiropractic AND Massage"... and you got upset about the doctor using chiropractic AND massage techniques? Isn't that like going to Pizza Hut and complaining that they don't have pork fried rice? What they offer is right in the business name, what else did you expect??? 3. The massage just feels really, really good! Especially if it's an evening appointment, you work an office job like me and you need something to wash away the stress and strain of your day. How awesome is that? Also re: the review that complained about him dragging his feet on a refund, I also overpaid for one of my appointments, and when I informed him of this he quickly offered me either a refund or a credit, my choice. I chose the refund and he promised to run it first thing next morning and text me as soon as he did. At 9:10 the next morning I got a text from him telling me that the refund had been issued and I would see it in my account soon, but if I didn't, I should let him know immediately and he would help me out. Refund went through as promised, no strings attached. Dr Nick is a chiropractor, not a collections agent. Accidents happen; that's life. Some accidents are harder than others to fix -- but it's the fact that we try our best to fix them anyway that really counts. 1000% recommend Dr Nick! read more

I have been going to Dr. Nick for almost a year now. He is the best chiropractor I have ever had! I have had a lot of shoulder pain in the last 5 years from tennis injury and have been suffering a lot. Once I started going to Dr. Nick, I felt a lot of difference! He does miracles, it's a amazing how much difference it has been. Now I go every 1-2 weeks for a fix-up visit and feel a lot of relief after every appointment. Dr. Nick also has a great attitude, very personable and Cheryl, his admin, is so nice to talk to! She's a sweetheart. I love this local office and would highly recommend it. Dr. Nick is amazing. I came in with some shoulder pain and ankle pain that have been pretty constant for the last couple of years. He saw me almost immediately after calling for an appointment and assessed everything. I found out that I needed some support for my foot and once that problem was resolved my ankle felt so much better. My shoulder pain was so intense that I sometimes couldn't move my shoulder or even my arm. Dr. Nick listened to all my concerns and did a great job. Within a couple of visits, I was up and running and my pain was gone. I come back every month or so now and the appointments are straight, easy, and to the point. I recently moved to the area from another town and was very pleased one day when I came home to a coupon for a free massage with any paid service offered by "Personal Care Chiropractic" (aka Painless Body) in Arlington. I made an initial examination and went in to get this examination and schedule the free massage. Upon the doctor Nicholas Stamoulos coming out of his room he had an extremely poor attitude with me the entire time - I didn't know why because I hadn't done or said anything except describe my back pain. He was then very combative in his speech when I tried to ask a question, he interrupted me every time I tried to speak and then excused himself to the other room for a few moments. Upon coming back he ACTUALLY told me to go BACK to my old chiropracter. I told him it was very inconvinient to do so since I had moved, and was looking for a new place to be treated and had been hoping to start at his office. I held up the coupon and said "I thought it was very nice to get this offer so that's why I came down." He looked at the coupon and then glared at me saying "yeah, I had a feeling that's why you were here." well DUH!!!!!!!!! Why on earth would you send out a free offer to someone to gain new business and then be TOTALLY RUDE when the person comes in!!?? I could not believe the attitude of this guy Stamoulos. Way to run a business!! I will not step foot in this place again and if his services are even half as bad as his attitude, I would say be VERY weary of this place!! read more

I have been treated by Dr. Nick on several occasions and he is amazing at assessing the condition and then providing adjustments that not only relieve the pain but for me have also heal the condition. A couple of years ago I had been diagnosed by my doctor with a shoulder condition and physical therapy was prescribed. After a couple of weeks of therapy the pain did not subside so out of desperation I went to Dr. Nick, since my friend had many good things to say about him after being treated by him for a year. He was very accommodating and within a couple of hours after calling for an appointment I was in his office. Within a few minutes of assessing my condition he determined that my pain was not what my doctor had diagnosed and then gave me an adjustment which by the next day the severe pain was almost gone. After several more treatments the pain completely dwindled away and my shoulder healed. When I went back to the physical therapists and told him Dr. Nick's diagnosis, they performed a few tests and agreed, which caused them to change the therapy they provided. Recently I started feeling some tightness in the same area of my shoulder so arranged a visit with Dr. Nick. He told me it was not the same condition as I was previously treated for but this time the soreness was due to muscle strain. The day after the adjustment the pain was gone. My chiropractor retired and I was looking for a new one and tried Nicholas because he was close by. What luck! I have had work done by lots of chiropractors since 1984 and he is one of the best. He is very thorough, professional and truly caring. He has gone out of his way to see me when I have been in pain. Both my teens have seen him as well. He also takes insurance- many do not. I should have been skeptical when the doctor here didn't want my previous chiropractor's notes, records and x-rays. A truly terrible experience. I have seen a chiropractor for years and I have never been as sore and hurting so much, for so long as I have after this visit. I went because reviews were good, but I certainly don't recommend them.
