I fell for the pandemic puppy trap earlier this year when I decided to get a puppy! Seeing my friends' dogs and cute puppies around, I only assumed it would be great to have a companion in my life. Little did I know that cuteness overload comes with a lot of responsibility and struggles, especially since I live alone, and have never had a pet in my life. The best thing is that Diane has been kind enough to answer stupid and repeated questions from me over text or phone at any time of the day. If I've felt overwhelmed, I've always had comfort to know that I have a personal counsellor/mentor available. Diane shared a lot of tools, tricks, and methods - most of them work great, some don't - some do, but not always - but that is just because each dog is different and each dog-parent relationship is unique. I am just glad to have all those tools and information available to tap into whenever I run into any challenge. We are new dog owners with two teenaged boys, and while we were excited to welcome a new furry friend to our home, we were anxious and nervous at the same time. To complicate things, we were bringing the pup in from Atlanta, GA where I needed to personally pick him up due to the various pet shipment embargos on airlines due to COVID-19. Diane was a godsend. Jasper is a Shih-Tzu mix that fell into my life almost one month ago. The transition from "auntie" to "mom" has been challenging and amazing. I looked for a long time because (and no offense to Petco) a few hours at Petco wasn't going to cut it. At first, I thought I needed doggy daycare or perhaps a dog walker. That's how I came across Diane. We exchanged one email and one phone call which was thorough. She asked me all sorts of questions I hadn't considered and didn't know the answer to. I felt like she cared about my dog and wasn't necessarily interested in just booking a job. Furthermore, she said that Jasper probably wasn't ready to be walked in a group and that I needed to work with him first (ouch). Diane came to my house and for 2+ she worked to train Jasper and I. Diane Grant is absolutely phenomenal! I have three cats and one cat was diagnosed with cancer not too long ago. I was really stressed about trying to find the right person to take care of them while we were out of town for a few days. From the first time I met her, I knew she would take great care of them and I felt very comfortable leaving town for a few days. While were were gone, she came every day to check on, feed, and play with my cats, and even came back in the afternoon to pull the blinds up so my cat could see outside (he can't have direct sunlight because of the type of cancer but she wanted to make sure he was able to see out for part of the day). Diane truly is the best when it comes to taking care of your fur babies. I travel a lot for work and for fun and I never worry when I'm away. Diane not only feeds, cares for and plays with your fur babies, she also gives you status reports on what they are doing and how they are acting. Growing up, my family always had dogs so it was no surprise when my husband and I decided to bring home a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Sophie. Cavalier's are the most social breed and are known to run into any stranger's arms however we knew our little Sophie was different from the time we brought her home. When we first got her, we lived in a high-rise in San Francisco so we tried to acclimate her to the noise and commotion of the city. We have recently moved to the Peninsula, and unfortunately, Sophie's very shy and antisocial behavior moved with us. Sophie likes to be with us and avoids other people and dogs at all costs. We tried puppy classes and bringing her to Cavalier meet up's and it felt like we were torturing her. At the sight of another dog, she would practically crawl up my leg and into my arms. I told her the cat situation and some of his behaviors. Romeo is a Shihtzu that I rescued 5 years ago. Romeo is my love...I mean I love my kids, but Romeo...ah..love my dog!!! Okay, you all get it...back to Diane...Diane met me at my office and spent about 20 minutes with Romeo. She calmed him and I just watched, she then took him for the afternoon. She literally had him for about 2-1/2hrs. She brought him back to me a completely different dog. A calm dog, a well balanced dog...and that was after only a couple of hours?!?!!! I brought him home wondering if his demeanor would change. He usually gets amped up when we drive into the garage. He remained calm. He usually fights me to get to the front door. He remained calm. I was stunned and in complete awe. I was watching him all night, his face has a different sweetness that I have never seen before. He was calm on his evening walk. He was calm on his morning walk. He is on his way for sure to live peacefully with two cats... I am no longer concerned. I can't say enough great things about Diane Grant! She has truly been a life saver. We have been using her services for over 3 years and I would recommend her to anyone. Diane initially spent a lot of time on the phone with me so she could learn about me, my family and our dog. We adopted our dog, Gertie, from the Peninsula Humane Society and she came to us with some fear-based issues. After our lengthy phone conversation, Diane came by the house for a visit and a quick walk with Gertie. Diane instantly knew how to deal with Gertie's fear and how to handle her behavior. For the first few weeks, Gertie wouldn't let Diane close enough to attach a leash for a walk. Diane was extremely patient and called me daily with a progress report. For the first month, Diane allowed Gertie the time to get to know her (her smell, voice and presence). I really appreciated Diane's ability to take things slowly and go at a pace that was comfortable for our dog. Diane pushed when she needed to but allowed Gertie the time to feel comfortable. I don't think others would have been so patient! Through the years, Diane has worked with Gertie to overcome her fear and aggression issues. It was time to take a vacation...waayyy past the time in fact. We didn't have a pet sitter, and wanted a GREAT pet sitter for our American Bobtail cat, "Bob", who had not been left alone for more than an overnight since we got him. I called Diane Grant at Personal Touch Pet Au-Pair because of her reviews on Yelp, and she took my call while dog walking...a good omen for me. Very upbeat, energetic and friendly, she asked me to email her the specifics of our trip and she'd respond to set up a date and time to meet at our home. At that meeting, "Bob" and Diane connected immediately and we all felt at ease. Diane's attention to Bob, and our home was spectacular, especially since we left at the start of a heat wave. While gone, Diane called us several times to put us at ease, the house was kept cool, plants watered-she saved an orchid from dying, ripe tomatoes picked so the heat wouldn't split 'em, mail was sorted, newspapers retrieved.
