The service this moving company provides is exceptional. I have turned to them for moving help twice already, so I am a satisfied repeat client. They did well both times. First, they are extremely fast! It really is impressive to watch. Second, they were able to fit me into their packed schedule at the end of the month on a fairly short notice. I am extremely grateful for that. While we were not ready to start moving until a few minutes before the assigned freight elevator time, it was so kind of them to show up early. Third, they tend to price by the job, rather than by the hour as some snail-pace companies do. This company's quotes are reasonable and truly of great value. I called a number of companies for quotes and some were outrageous and simply not based on reality. Essentially, they helped us move furniture and boxes without sparing their energies and any extra bargaining on-site like it can happen with folks counting and measuring boxes. They are reliable and responsive, so I had little to worry about when I engaged their help. Moreover, they added value above and beyond what we initially agreed on. Do not use these movers. I'm saying this very seriously because I would not want another family to go through what we went through. I have moved four times before, and this was by far the worst moving experience I have ever had. They were recommended by a friend, which is the only reason I trusted them. Unfortunately, that trust turned into a huge mistake. They arrived in a 26-foot U-Haul with no company logo or proper identification. The person in charge was actually trying to convince me that a 26-foot truck was the biggest moving truck available, which immediately made me question how knowledgeable and professional they really were. The crew itself did not seem organized or experienced. They barely appeared to know each other, and it honestly felt like they had just been gathered together that morning. They were careless, unprepared, and did not seem to have the basic equipment you would expect from professional movers. They did not have proper tools to disassemble or reassemble furniture, so they used my tools. They did not have bubble wrap, so they used mine. They also did not have enough moving blankets to properly protect the furniture. The damage was extensive. Almost every piece of furniture was scratched, torn, chipped, punctured, dented, or otherwise damaged. Two TVs ended up with broken screens. The attached photos show only part of the damage. What makes this even more upsetting is that we had kept our furniture in very good condition for years despite having three young children. We were all excited about moving into our new home. Instead of enjoying that moment, we were left dealing with damaged furniture, broken TVs, and a tremendous amount of frustration. They completely ruined what should have been an exciting experience for my family. Despite everything, I still paid them in full because I did not want the individual workers to feel that I was withholding their money or taking advantage of them. However, after seeing the full extent of the damage, I feel a responsibility to warn other people before they trust this company with their belongings. This was not a matter of a few scratches or normal moving wear and tear. This was widespread damage caused by poor preparation, lack of proper equipment, careless handling, and what appeared to be a serious lack of experience. I strongly recommend that you do not use this moving company. I will continue posting this review anywhere I find this company listed and anywhere I have the opportunity to leave feedback, because people deserve to know what kind of experience we had before trusting them with their furniture and personal belongings. I get winded just walking up the stairs into a fifth floor walk-up so knew I would never be able to enlist the help of friends to move. Sal was quick to get back to me and quote the move (within Manhattan). He was easy to get a hold of, courteous, and detailed when setting up our move. I had an itemized list ready beforehand and he was able to estimate off that. On moving day, the crew showed up early and went full speed all morning. I used this company many years ago for a move and they were great -- brought an extra guy, didn't complain about my 5th floor walkup and did everything very fast. This was in direct contrast to my recent experience with them: they were rude, always complained about the stairs, send fewer guys, it took forever and subsequently cost an egregious amount. They had very poor customer service when i expressed my dissatisfaction. Additionally, they BROKE one a piece of furniture and said they would fix it and return it. I used this company back in August for a move in Manhattan, and they were on time and fast, but I also had a few issues with them, some small and some big. We have a complicated apartment, in that you need to take items up the elevator to the top floor, then walk up a flight of stairs, then enter our apartment through a side door. I specifically explained this to the movers over email before we were quoted a price, yet when I told them about it again once we got the my apartment, Sal told me that I had not notified him of this. When I presented the email, he stopped complaining, but that was problem #1. After moving in most of our stuff without a hitch, the movers started to bring the pieces of our couch in. Sal had told me that they provided furniture protectors, but nope, they did not use furniture protectors and proceeded to drag my couch on the ground through our side entrance, which was very dirty. One of the guys told me one piece of my couch would not fit, even though I told him I measured it and it would clear by over 3 inches. After he still told me it wouldn't fit, I had to educate him on moving furniture by bringing it in myself, upright and very easily. After that snafu, they completely abandoned me on the large part of the couch and said it wouldn't fit at all. Now I give them the benefit of the doubt here because I did have to remove the legs but didn't have the proper tool at the moment, but I was hoping that they would stick around while I ran to get the right bit, but they just left. So all in all, I was not very happy with this company. Moving is stressful, but Sal and the Personalized Moving staff made my experience so much easier. He was always very quick to answer my emails prior to the move and the day of, went very smoothly. Sal called me to tell me that the movers were running late (I had an afternoon move) and estimated they would be there in 15-20 minutes and 17 minutes later, they were downstairs. They had plenty of supplies and a large truck (larger than I required). The move was quick and easy and they were at my new apartment within 10 minutes of my arrival. The whole thing was a pleasure and I wholeheartedly recommend these movers. I should also mention that I called at least 5 moving companies for pricing and availability and Personalized Moving was cheaper by close to $100, which meant a lot to me, as I was moving on a budget. I used these guys when I moved about three weeks ago and they where a pleasure to work with. It was my first time moving and they where great about answering all my ridiculous questions and making sure that I was comfortable. They arrived early and where done in a reasonable time frame. I had a butt load of stuff ( more than I care to admit) and these guys did the best that they could and amazed me with their skill and quickness. A whole house full of stuff was done it about 4.5 hours. Amazed the hell out of me. Will def use them again if I ever go crazy and decide to move again lol. read more

When we took separate routes to the delivery point, (they couldn't go my way because commercial not allowed) they showed up like 10 minutes after me. (Obviously they didn't screw around to try to pad the bill) . They were personable . Nothing got damaged . The price was the price was the price. I highly reccommend them!! read more

We submitted for quotes into a couple of moving companies and we got a submission from Sal Nasef, the owner or manager of Personalized moving. Because we lived in a one bedroom apartment in Staten island, my fiancee overestimated. Sal did NOT ask to come and see the apartment. We also told Sal that we had a storage unit in Jersey City that would like to take our furniture from so we asked to make a stop on the way. He agreed and said that was no problem and asked what was in the storage unit. Sal took this all into consideration and said that it would be a 6 hour move including one hour of travel . (7 hours total) with a quote of 665. Then Sal contacts my fiancee and says that he can't move on Friday March 1st as we had originally planned, but would we mind changing the move to Saturday March 2nd because he had conflicts. He would give us a 5% discount, as well as free wardrobe boxes and any materials we would need for free (we have this in email proof). His men arrived promptly at 9am on Saturday March 2nd, and this is NOT a complaint against them because they were EXCELLENT workers, however they did not have proper equipment which not only slowed them down to a snail's pace, and made our moving time SIGNIFICANTLY longer, but it also severely endangered their health and welfare. They had NO ramp into the 26 ft truck. So they had to physically lift ALL of the furniture into the truck off of the ground. They had no back braces, so these guys were endangering their health and their lives in some cases lifting all the stuff into the truck. They had no hand trucks, only dollies, so they had to get things down the stairs by carrying it all themselves. It took TEN times as long as it should have to get things down the steps in Staten Island. The truck was in terrible condition, and the men let us know that it almost did not start when they were leaving Staten Island. The most awful and deplorable work conditions were exposed when these men moving not only boxes but FURNITURE into our new apartment. Since they did not have a ramp or hand trucks, and there were considerably more stairs at our new apartment in Summit, the men had straps and were strapping FURNITURE to their backs and carrying it up the stairs. ONE man was carrying HUGE pieces of furniture up 40 stairs with just straps on their backs. The men were so exhausted and were collapsing on our apartment floor when they got upstairs. Then they were carrying up boxes that way too. Not only was it a sight to watch because of their exhaustion and muscle failure, but our boxes were collapsing under the tightness of the straps. So we don't even know what is broken and what is not in our boxes.This is UNACCEPTABLE. Because of these terrible conditions, by the time they unloaded all of the furniture and boxes, the time was 10 and 3/4 hours including travel. This was very different from the 6 hours he had quoted us. After we finally realized it would be over $1000, and significantly more than we were quoted (and this does not include tip), I asked Donald to call Sal to discuss this egregious over amount. Sal on the phone was so rude, and so condescending I could not even believe it. I told him all of these things, and he told me many lies. That he was giving us the 10% and I reminded him that he already owed us 5%, and he said we were getting free materials, and told him he already owed us that too. I told him we would pay what we were quoted and then tip the guys, and he told me "don't tip them!". I had watched these poor men toil for hours and they had told me they make ($11 an hour, and Sal lied and told me it was $15 even though it was only Donald, who has a CDL) I was NOT about to not tip them for their services. He was screaming that he needed to feed his family so could not give me the price I was quoted, and I told him I have to feed mine, and I have a budget. The final straw for me was, on the phone he said, "Let me speak to your husband" because he no longer wanted to deal with me. I said "how dare you insinuate that I can't handle this because I'm the "wife". I take care of the finances in our household, and you will talk to me". He was disgustingly sexist, and I resent that. I was told by all of the men that this was not the first time that this had happened. They told me that Sal constantly low balls jobs just to get them and the severely over charges the customers. One of the men told me they had been on a job that was supposed to be 3 hours and ended up being 13. I can't believe he gets away with this, and I absolutely believe his business practices need to be investigated. By the way, their motto is: "It's all about caring!". ridiculous. read more

I used Personalized Moving for a simple move in NYC back in January. Looking back over their website - it clearly states they do not have a customer service policy. Instead, they tout their Care Program, which assures they will follow up with customers before, during, and shortly after their move to discuss how it went. Seeing as it's been nearly three months and I haven't heard anything.. it seems they have neither. When it came to the quote - I provided very specific details of the few items I needed to move. I was given a quote of 4 movers for 5 hours. Since this was clearly an overestimation I reiterated I only had a few items to move. Sal explained that since one of the buildings was a walk-up he thought the extra movers would speed up the process. Fair enough. To be sure I understood the billing, I asked : "so I will just be charged the 4 mover rate for however long the move takes?" Great. I agreed to book their services. The night before the move I realized I was never given a window of time.. so I had to reach back out to them to see when I could expect their arrival.. where are you Care Program? Movers showed up the next day. All 4 of them. The foreman went through some paperwork to start. He told me there was a 4 hour minimum charge. This was news to me. I clearly told Sal (twice) I only had a few items and even confirmed that I would only be charged for the amount of time the move took. He said rules are rules.. seeing as I didn't really have another choice.. I agreed. Then he tried to convince me that moving part of my bed was against their rules. Really? Can't move my bed? Odd. It's OK, he said he would do it for me anyway.. as long as I returned the favor in my tip. Anyway, thirty minutes later my apartment was empty. Movers headed over to the delivery location. All 3 of them. What? I thought there was 4? Oh right! One of them spent the entire time in my bathroom. All 30 minutes. Glad I paid the extra rate for his help. The drop off went quickly also. No real hiccups on this side. Was glad to see the one guy got whatever it was out of his system to carry that last item in. Again, really glad to pay the extra rate for him. The entire move took just under 2 hours. Glad to pay for the full 4 hours, though. Actually, throw in the mandatory 45 minute "travel time" charge .. and I paid for nearly 5 hours of their time. Awesome. Wrote out a check. Handed it over. Tipped the movers (don't worry - couldn't forget the extra for moving my bed). I was just glad to be done with them. But I wasn't! Sal called them back - and make me write out an additional $25 check for a certificate of insurance. Lovely. This company is an absolute joke. Will never use them again. Unfortunately for them, we had a lot more stuff to move than originally planned and they had to work to 2:00am on one of the hottest days of the year. They never complained and were complete professionals. They were extremely careful with all of our stuff. Finding a quality, commercial mover with issurance that's reasonably priced in this city isn't easy but look no further. These guys are great and I highly recommend them! read more

I needed to move my furniture from basement to 2nd floor. I can't believe Sal and his moving staff moved all the heavy furniture so fast and don't have any scratch. The price is reasonable. These guys were terrible to say the least. We contacted them and they gave us an estimate over the phone. A moving date was set and we reconfirmed with them THREE (3) times. They wavered back and fourth on what time the move would start and they ultimately gave us a starting time of 10:30 am-11:00 am. Not only were they not there to move by 11:00 am, but they didn't even call to give us an ETA (estimated time of arrival). WE had to call them at noon, only to be notified at 1:00 pm that they would be 3 hours late and asked if they could come the next day. With a 1 year old at home and a team of people waiting on the movers, we could not afford to wait any longer. I hired a last-minute moving company (1/2 movers) who arrived promptly. To say that they were inconsiderate and unprofessional is an understatement. I would strongly advise anyone considering these guys to find another vendor or perhaps setup an back-up moving company in the likely event that they fail to deliver on their promise.
