So we lucked upon Perspective Barbershop and Husband David went into the shop and greeted by all the barber's and then was asked if he had an appointment and told them no and then Travis walked over to him and asked what service did he need and my Husband David responded he needed his beard trimmed up. Great barbershop! I drive by this barber shop every day for work, and decided one day to check them out when I needed a quick haircut. Booking an appointment is super easy online, which I love. My barber was Rych and he was very prompt with getting me in his chair and hooking me up with a quality haircut. I just went back for my 2nd haircut with him, and had an even better experience! The place is always so clean, and well maintained. They do pretty good at taking walk ins as well, from what I saw. But appointments are, of course, recommended! figured i'd stop by here because all the references to Hawaii. Got stuck in traffic because, Las Vegas. they close at 6pm, got there at 5:19pm, figured had time still since no matter where i go, my simple haircut takes 15, 20 minutes tops. walk in, see one barber doing a kid, another barber sitting on a chair i guess waiting for a chemical treatment of another client. see a sign, no walk-ins. funny, website says different. as someone from Hawaii that likes to support 9th Islander businesses, figured i give it a try. welp. no aloha, no business. they say you have one chance to make a first impression, that was the one and done. really hard to find good barbershops/stylists in this city tbh. ***edit after owner response*** i guess the one customer who showed up 30-mins prior got lucky. the chemical treatment stylist was just sitting there staring at me when i walked in. not one person said "hey what are you looking for as far as a service goes?" literally went up the street to Floyd's 99 and i actually timed it, 12 minutes from start to finish. i've bleached and tinted my hair before throughout the years and it usually takes longer than that. not saying how long the customer was already into their treatment. i do applaud the stylist actually acknowledging me when i walked in tho. the other one doing the kid who was first chair to the left from entering the door i don't recall even saying anything, he may have but i was too busy looking at the no walk-ins sign. it was nice to get a response from the owner himself, but free or not, i will NOT be going back. Working in customer service, yes i understand there are hours of service and all, but the links on yelp never led me to the linktree page to make an appointment anyway. hope your business goes well, no i'll will, but if anyone asks me if i went, my experience will be told and i'm not going to lie to them. all reviews, albeit few, says nice things about being attentive, courteous, etc. i guess the 2 left working today were burnt out or whatever because I didn't feel valued as a customer even if i wasn't one, anyone who walks in the door of an establishment is a potential customer. read more

The Hawaiian Pidgin banter between the barbers adds to the pleasant vibe of the shop. I was happy with my taper haircut from Makani (who is skilled at skin fades). $40 was the price for the haircut ($30 for seniors). This place could also be called a men's barber shop. Perspective Barbershop in my opinion is titled incorrectly, because regardless of what position, lighting, perspective you look from their hair cuts are flawless. Despite it being a barbershop you don't walk into an ambiance of toxic machismo, or denigrating behavior and conversation. Which for most, tends to be a haphazard collateral pain to deal with especially if you don't subscribe to those schools of behavior and thought. Every Barber there is unilaterally talented, equal in customer attentiveness, satisfaction, and forthcoming with their perspective as to how your request will aid in your hair journey or perhaps flop given your unique growths. I tend to value these aspects when communicating with my barber, sometimes I think my request will look great but in reality it may leave me looking like a clown. They won't let that happen, unless you're like "nah, let's do it" in which case--vaya con Dios. In short, Perspective is a talented group of misfits who make you feel comfortable and welcome. They upkeep their cutting techniques to reflect trends, and prioritize the client by maintaining their stations something i also pay close attention to bc let's be honest--no one wants pimples all over their head from dirty clippers. That said, I've had cuts from several barbers here when Gabe's busy (which is rare--dude works like a caffeinated robot), and they all crush it. One time, Gabe even made a house call to cut my hair.
