I really hate to do this, but I have to. What a terrible, terrible experience we have coming here. I came to this place about 2 years ago and we were delighted, one thing was better than the other and this time was so different, starting the door was locked for some reason even though the restaurant was in business hours so we waited outside along with one of the cooks who texted the server to unlock the front door. The server was so disengaged with all, but it's fine I came for the food so it wasn't a big deal, it turns in a big deal when the service and the food are awful, I order a chicken chaufa (Peruvian fried rice) and my water tasted better, it was very unpleasant, the lomo saltado was terrible as well, with no more than 4 oz of steak and the rest of the plate was 1 mountain of rice and French fries, the ceviche was ok which was the best out of the 3 dishes we order. The cherry on top is that they charge you 3% if you pay with a credit card and I find that so incivil that makes me angry of thinking about it. Located next to David's Bridal, Peru Taco offers Mexican and Peruvian dishes at affordable pricing. We came in for tacos. Walking in we were immediately greeted by Eli. The main dining space there has five tables in the main area plus three booths. We chose one of the booths which just gave us tiny bit of privacy and additional comfort. Eli brought us waters and complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was excellent and chips were fresh. The menu has both Peruvian items and Mexican items. They are known for their chicken so I ordered two chicken tacos and one shrimp. My husband ordered el pastor and the carne asada. We also ordered a causa de pollo to share. Not knowing what the causa de pollo was (Peruvian dish) we were quite happy when it arrived. Turns out it is pureed yellow potato and yellow chili paste formed into two round circles. Then with their broiled chicken shredded, raw carrot, green onion and a tiny bit of sweet mayonnaise (similar to Japanese mayo) It was the shining star of this meal. Perfect. We shamelessly mmmmmm'd and ooooooooh'd while eating it. (True) Soon our tacos came out. They were well presented and came on taco stands. They looked much better than the last two taco places we went to. We bit into them and they tasted amazing. Our favorite was the chicken with a house green mystery sauce. We left full and happy. 4 star rating only for restaurant not having enough cash to give us exact change and also for charging customers 3% more if they used credit. Overall, I do think it's a bit overpriced but looking forward to coming back & trying more. The Causa de Pollo is just as good as I had in Peru! I'm not always the biggest chicken fan but this is the place to eat it! If you like mulled wine, you'll like their chicha morada! Decided to try this place and although it was not bad at all it could have been a whole lot better. The layout of the restaurant was different. You have tables and then a few booths but it seemed like that were different rooms. I just didn't understand what they were trying to go for. The service was fine but it would have been nice to recommend a few dishes for us to try. We did mention it was our first time visiting and the menu was not fully in English. The appetizer menu was not in English at all. So most people would not know what these items were. They do serve alcohol and the waitress did mention that the wine we selected was on the sweet side, so instead she made a cocktail that was perfect. I ordered what appeared to be basil pasta and I will say it was good. It came with a breast of chicken which was extremely dry. OMG, this place was delicious! I had their 1/4 chicken with 2 sides and it was only $11. It felt like the portions were just the right size too - not too much but not too little. The chicken itself is packed with so much flavor. I paired it with sweet plantains and fried rice but there are other options you can choose from. The waitress was very attentive to our needs. She kept checking in on us and removing plates as we finished up. She also offered us hot sauce for our food. She definitely went above & beyond to ensure we were good! The restaurant itself is pretty cute. They have decorations all around the walls. I hope everyone gives this new Peruvian restaurant a try and support our mom and pop businesses. Such wonderful owners and such a warm and friendly environment, and plenty of good authentic Peruvian food. We got their charbroiled chicken with sweet plantains (delicious) and another one of their authentic beef dishes (I can't recall the name but it was pretty good). The chicken was fall of the bone and worked really well with a dip accompaniment. Their margaritas are to die for. So I do plan to try their Mexican selection sometime soon. I stopped by the Peru Taco Bar, in a modest Dublin strip mall. Surprisingly, this place has waiter service and my server was fast and friendly. We began with free chips and salsa. Chips and tacos are very much not Peruvian, but I couldn't say no. My meal was the lomo saltado with beef and it was excellent. The beef and vegetables were grilled perfectly and served with a delicious sauce. I know how hard it is to find decent ethnic food in Columbus, so I'm so glad Peru Taco is open. I wanted to love this place and, based on the reviews, I really thought I was going to. Maybe it was just an off day? To be fair...I do think when you call yourself a taco bar, the tacos should be really solid. Chips and homemade salsa were great. Taco and enchilada were not. Really thin, watery texture on the refried beans. Dark meat chicken in the enchilada, which is unappealing to me personally. Taco was really light on toppings of cheese or lettuce (no tomatoes). I did not try any of the Peruvian menu items. This is probably where they shine. Service was friendly and I still encourage others to check out this new restaurant. This place is only a half mile from my girl's place and it kept popping up so thought we'd try it out. First glance....eh...it ain't exactly pretty. Not really in the best part of town to catch a lot of people. It's also not exactly fancy on the inside. Design is kind of neat and it is certainly clean. It's also pretty small. Onions, tomatoes, and beef cooked perfectly and the seasoning and sauce are out of this world. I definitely got some cinnamon and maaaaaybe even a bit of chocolate? But absolutely not like that Skyline dumpster fire. Little bit sweet and very savory. Nothing like anything I've had before. Would absolutely love to have every day for the rest of my life. Oddly, I tried to tell the guy serving us how great my food was twice and he did not care at all. Just said thanks and walked off. Not going to rate negatively about that, but it was certainly odd. All that and didn't even get to the fried rice yet. Also damn delicious. Just a bit different taste than the fried rice we're all use to, but so good. Added their cilantro based "hot sauce," to it which was also delicious. I planned to take the rice home as I didn't want to eat it (had too much junk today already), but I couldn't stop myself and finished all of it. So why 4 stars? Service was meeeeh. Very slow to come ask our drink order, never got water, took awhile to get the drinks even though there was only 8 other people in the restaurant. Dishes weren't taken after they were finished with a staff member leaning back on the bar playing on her phone literally at my 12 o'clock. Also had empty drink for about 15 minutes during this time. Honestly was just waiting for her to notice and ask just to see how long it would take. She never actually offered me another drink, I had to ask. Appears only one person in the restaurant spoke English so you'll have to be a little patient with that. The drink prices aren't hole in the wall cheap either. Captain and diet was $9 and a jumbo margarita that was delicious, but filled to the brim with ice was $14. I could probably knock the whole thing out in a few seconds if I was trying. We were excited to see a Peruvian restaurant open! There's plenty of parking outside and space inside for small groups, families, or casual dates! Bring your friends, family, and everyone in between. We got the Pollo Parrillero with a side of fries and sweet plantains and the Crazy Trio. Everything was juicy, delicious, seasoned very well, and cooked perfectly! The Pollo Parrillero was my absolute favorite and it was delicious. Our server recommended the sweet plantains and I loved every bite. I have slight regret about getting fries because I was under pressure, but happily will come back to try other dishes and sides. We recommend the Crazy Trio because you get a little bit of everything: chicken, beef, and shrimp and it was incredible. Our server also gave us the house sauces and those were so good and paired well with the entrees. We spent about $41 for 2 before tip, which is a bit expensive, but they do have lunch specials that are probably a bit more budget friendly. We highly highly recommend and will be coming back asap. Despite what a few reviews posted our service was prompt and attentive. We had 3 different people who constantly kept checking on us. The drinks were served quick and our food was ready soon after. Margaritas was not a mix we watched him prepare them. Food was served hot with great flavor. Chips and salsa were great not jarred but fresh. Shrimp was cooked perfectly not rubbery and chewy. I really like it as well, and there were other interesting things on the menu. Space is a bit more open than Ba Sho had it, but it's still small to midsize. Nice but nothing too fancy. Mexican and Peruvian dishes. We got a standard ceviche to share; it was a good size for that, or would be a decent entrée. The fish was fresh, and perfectly "cooked," and accompanied with onions and dried corn, etc. They brought hot sauce upon request. One was green and not hot, the red one was moderately hot. Went nicely with the fish and the other dishes. My friend got a beef dish that I forgot the name of. He said that the beef was tender but not very flavorful, the sauce was very good. He really enjoyed it. I got the grilled chicken tacos. They were very good, although not spectacular. But good tortillas, good chicken, good toppings. Service was good, prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity. It ain't cheap, but seafood, and ceviche, are never cheap. Unfortunately, Columbus doesn't have many authentic Peruvian restaurants, and the few I've been to are pretty spectacular, so I was interested to try this place. I went with their 1/4 Charcoal Chicken and two sides - black beans and sweet plantains. The chicken was delicious! So tender and juicy, seasoned well (not overly!). The black beans were also really good - the seasoning mixed in was fantastic. The plantains could have been cooked a bit longer to make them more soft, but were decent. We enjoyed our visit. It was quite tasty. We all had something different from Tacos to the "spaghetti". I had the excellent ceviche. The server was quite pleasant and there was a nice vibe. The roasted Peruvian chicken looked and smelled excellent (we have enjoyed all this dishes in Peru). Two small complaints however: we ordered Pisco Sours which we love and heard they were $8/each. When we got our check we discovered they were $15/each. They more than doubled our check! We'll keep on making our Pisco Sours at home (not hard). The other issues is that "platters" are several dollars more but sounded worth it with the addition of sweet potato and the Peruvian corn. That amounted to one small slice of sweet potato and about two tablespoons of Peruvian toasted corn - simply not a value. This was a full plate of fajitas with all the fixings. They are a Peruvian and Mexican fusion restaurant. The flavors were incredible. I wish I had gotten both steak and chicken. You can't beat the deal for the portion and the price. I also tried a jumbo margarita. It was in a green solo cup for Cinco de mayo but I think that cup was bigger than the actual glass they normally use, so no complaints from me. Loved the peach flavor.
