We have been a Modern customer for many 15 plus years on a quarterly schedule. Initially we had a VERY dependable, trusted tech who took care of our property but has since retired.. The last 5 years has been a hit or miss situation, partially our fault because we travel often. Since the beginning of 2024 we were told that to remain on a quarterly schedule, in our absence they would do the outside only, not the inside of our house, plus checking mouse traps( the back yard of our house backs up to a woods charging the same as would be charged for the above description. Now , starts the problem, during our absence the tech did not leave a note, email, or notify us in anyway that he had treated our property, nor did we get a bill. We finally got a bill for 3 application dating back to Feb.2024. After chatting with a Modern 'rep' we ask why we were charged for a full inside, outside, check mouse trap, when only the outside was done. He, the Modern rep passed us onto a manager, he, the manager then stated that only the outsider has to be done because all bugs(etc) live outside. Indicating that if we continued to use Modern, only the outside would be done, after 15 year plus of a full service. Because of our indifference, we will pursue hiring another company, and leaving modern extermination.

A lil long review (be warned lol)…read more Last year, my neighbors and I had a problem with ground wasps in our front yards. We tried DIY solutions (soapy vinegar water in the holes at night, apple cider vinegar & mint spray) but nothing really worked. So we just dealt with it. A year later (now) we're dealing with these scary wasps again and this time it seems like there are more of them and they spread across five different houses! We're on a rowhome block as many Philly neighborhoods are. Anyway, my one neighbor called a different exterminator service but the spray they used didn't seem to work as effectively. In my household, we got a recommendation from a friend to call Harpoon and we did. Quincy, the exterminator, told us over the phone that those wasps were cicada ground wasps - ugh - and said the best way was to spray inside of the holes that they dig. When they go back to the treated holes, they'll eventually die. He promised to come the next day and so he did. He gave an overall check in our backyard and front yard for nests and said he'll be back the following day to treat. Quincy came back and took down an old wasp nest in the backyard. In the front yard, he did two treatments - one with a concentrated sprayer and another one with this high-powered ghostbusters-like backpack sprayer (or as my sister calls it, a supercharged turbo blaster) lol. He was thorough, even going on the grass spraying into holes while these things were flying around! The next morning when I left out, I saw dead wasps on the ground while some were still flying around. When I got back home from work hours later, I saw NO wasp flying around in our yard - only in the untreated yards nearby. He said to give it a few days to a week and they would be gone from our yard. Kevin was the most thorough by far! He moved our kitchen appliances to show us where they may be nesting, and identified potential entry points that needed to be sealed. He did regular treatments and followed up to make sure that our pest problem wasn't recurring. When our bug problem became a mouse problem, he came by immediately with traps. When the mouse got loose in the house, he coached us through how to catch it live on the phone, and came by the next day to check on us.
