I don't usually leave reviews but.. This was the best emergency vet visit I've had. I called ahead and they picked up immediately and answered my questions on the phone. When we arrived i went in and left my husband and dog in the car, I let them know he was reactive, they let me fill out his paperwork, checked us in and we waited in the car. They called us an hour later and let us know to bring him in. We did wait another hour in a room, but I know that it's an emergency vet and my dog was in pain but not in critical condition. Both the tech and Dr. Ramirez made me feel heard and listened to the history I provided and didn't try to do any unnecessary tests or procedures. read more

I thought that was reasonable since it was the only Vet clinic open in the area. The reception staff were professional and very nice. After we were taken back to a room, the vet tech took our information and discussed it with the veterinary doctor. She examined my cat and then an action plan was written up, treatment costs were included in this plan as well. The vet tech and Dr were both very kind to my sick boy. I called ahead before taking my pet "doggy" asked how long the wait would be they informed me they could get me in a room in 30 minutes or less. So I proceeded to head to this location. I had seen many bad reviews but this was the only place open on the weekends. Upon arriving I checked in let the front desk know what was going on with my pet, letting them know it was an emergency hoping to get seen soon. I ended up waiting over an hour and a half just to get into a room and then proceeded to wait four and a half hours to be seen by a vet tech and then another 3 hours to see the actual vet doctor. I took my pet in because she had blood in her stool. Keep in mind she was still active still alert just in a lot of pain. The vet ran a bunch of test and suggested we give her different type of treatments, but never gave me a specific answer as to why she had blood in her stool, they took X-rays, did test with her blood I mean everything they could have possibly charged me for they did it. And their conclusion was, "she must have ate something that hurt her tummy" uhhh no shit !!! They charged me $1071 the first day and proceeded to let me take my pet home but they would give her a shot for the pain. At the time I just wanted my pet to get better since this had happened out of the blue a few days right after Christmas. As soon as we got home my pet was significantly lethargic and just in a worst condition than we took her, I called the vet 45 minutes after leaving and asked what specifically did they give her I even read the receipt with what they supposedly gave her! And the vet gave me a different answer than what was on the paper as to what she supposedly gave my pet. Upon searching up both products that would have been given to my pet, either of them could have been harmful if given too much of a dose. Which is my conclusion as to why she is no longer here with us. For the next 8 hours over night I continued to monitor my pet she did not drink or eat anything at all. The next morning at 6am I took her back explaining her condition getting worse, after still having to wait another 4 hours. The doctor suggested I leave her there to get checked and monitored by " professionals" even after everything I just wanted her to get better so I proceeded to agree and paid the bill another $1k bill. 4 hour after dropping her off I get a call that she is not doing well and to go see her one last time. It was the worst feeling ever and everything happened so fast I felt I got robbed of my money and of my pets life. I was prepared to pay whatever it took. They took her right in under urgent care, told me she had consumed THC. I realized she must have found one of my wife's Dr. prescribed medical THC gummies. She has lupus and just had her leg amputated. They recommended keeping her for 24 hours on liquids. I readily agreed. The gummy was huge and my dog is tiny. Anyway, the techs were great the front staff was great etc. I must have gotten lucky. I'm only giving them one star because of their discharge policy. I left my elderly mom at home and my wife who in bed who needs me for everything. I promised all I had to do was run to McAllen pick up our dog and run right back. When I got there no customers were there and I thought I'd be in and out. Well, the owner came up with an asinine policy that he pulled out of his butt, that is, only the tech handling the pet can discharge the pet. There were 3 and 4 girls up front and no customers and I had to sit there over an hour waiting. I went up 4 times asking what was taking so long etc. They're response was the tech is in an emergency, we have absolutely no idea how long it will take , shut up and sit down. The said it in a polite way and none of them were rude but, after and hour I finally went up and loudly said, "Ma'am WOULD YOU PLEASE GO GET SOMEONE OUT HERE, I CAN'T KEEP WAITING" She then said, with a smile, "you're tech is right behind you" . I unloaded on the poor tech, who was great and took really good care of our dog. I picked up my dog and said, "your discharge policy is horrible, absolutely horrible, we've been sitting her over an hour, there are no customers and the whole time there have been 3 and 4 girls up front and all of them are perfectly capable of getting my dog. " the tech apologized and said she was in an emergency, it seemed she was trying to hold back her emotions and tears and I felt really bad because I knew it was her fault. I told her I understood she was in an emergency and that I knew it wasn't her fault but I was venting to her. I told her the discharge policy was just awful. One girl behind the counter said, "it's the policy and we have to follow policy" to which I responded, "It's an horrible policy and it should be changed and I can post a bad review" she gave me a snarky, "that's fine" as if they could care less. My goodness, that's like going to your kids school to pick them up on your way to soccer practice and dance practice and having the school say, "only the teacher can discharge you kids, she's in a meeting, we have no idea how long it will be , shut up and wait" Man, the owner of Pet 911, would go ballistic on the school treated him that way. He'd probably call the police and accuse them of holding hid kids hostage. Which is exactly what his moronic policy does. I was on the verge of call McAllen PD to see if they could come help me. The employees at Pet 911 aren't allowed help. I felt bad for the tech because she seems to really care about the animals and she seemed to be very empathetic and apologized many times. I told her I didn't want her to come off of the emergency to get my dog, I wanted one of the 4 girls up front who were doing a little work and a lot of talking and laughing to go get my dog. I went from a raving fan of pet 911 to someone who will never go back because discharge policy, which is the height of idiocy. If someone opens another 24 hour pet vet service, this place would lose most of their customers. I know I won't be going back. And they had just put down a dog right before we were next. He was only 2 and he never got to open his Christmas present. Do not go here and the price is outrageous it was 5k and he didn't even last one day in the hospital. My dog passed away here yesterday he had a tear in his neck and was bleeding out internally. We paid the 600 to see him and they put him on oxygen and gave him an x-ray knowing he needed immediate surgery. The lady that was his doctor i do not know her name but from looking at the reviews it looks like she runs the show kept coming in and out of our waiting room telling us her every move and even saying "We could start the surgery but it'll take 30 minutes and he doesn't look like he's going to make it. We brought Bella into your facility when we realized something serious was going on when she been throwing up and refusing to drink for most of the day. I brought her in and told your staff to their faces that she was severely dehydrated and she needed fluids right away. Instead you put her in a crate in the back for 5 hours without any fluids, without any care whatsoever. Instead your staff made every attempt to explain how it was going to cost me almost $3,000 for a course of antibiotics and a few tests. And you also showed me paperwork on how to apply for a credit card to pay for all of this. On hour 6, I checked my dog out of your "emergency care facility" after forking out $600 for essentially nothing, and sick, scared, confused and delirious, she passed away in the backseat minutes later while I was still in your parking lot. This business is predatory and is more willing to price gouge and make money then provide actual care with an utterly useless staff at the front desk whose main focus is to siphon money out of emotionally distraught people who just want their pets to received the care they need to get better. The vets are knowledgeable about procedures and are sympathetic, but Still not allowed in the hospital, due to COVID, nearly 2 years into a pandemic. Yet we're allowed to use the restroom. It is INCREDIBLY stressful to be stuck in your car while your pet is sick. First, the vet called to give us an update. My wife and I decided to talk about our options and told them we'd call back. When we called, the vet was busy (only one vet at night). When they eventually answered, it was to give an estimate - $2500 for one night in the hospital. The next morning, they called. It was to get clarification on medicine. I had to ask how he was doing. He was still having trouble breathing. It wasn't until I spoke to my mother who is a former ER nurse that I knew how bad the outlook was. He didn't make it. We were told that we would be able to say our goodbyes if we entered through the back. So when we called to let the hospital know we were here for Tornado, the first question they asked WASN'T which door to come to, or to say sorry for your loss. It was to offer cremation services. I told them I wanted to say goodbye first. And then we got to say our goodbyes in the alley. It was really nice to have my sobbing wife get bumped into by employees throwing out trash or entering the building. My anger isn't due to incompetence, so that's not my issue. It is due to the utter lack of humanity displayed by the employees who were much more concerned about their money, rather than trying to ease their clients' stress and sadness, in the name of a pandemic. Because we're so contagious that we can use the same bathroom as the employees but can't be allowed in the building to be with our pets. I brought my cat to this clinic for an appointment for an urgent issue. This was the first time I had been here and I was impressed! I was brought into the exam room promptly on arrival and was seen by Dr. Rojas shortly thereafter. My cat had a thorough exam and Dr Rojas was great with her! After getting results from the testing, Dr. Rojas explained all of them to me and her recommendations for the care of my cat. I'm absolutely DISGUSTED at how this establishment is ran. The cost to have your pet SEEN, NOT TREATED IS UNETHICALLY HIGH. My cat Whiskey almost died here ($1,000 later) and thankfully I decided to take her off the meds they prescribed her, took her to Doctor Bentsen in McAllen and she got better and thankfully lived. I have heard nightmares about this place and it's such a shame that we don't have more resources. Pet Doctor 911 exploits pet lovers at their most vulnerable state when their fur babies are in desperate need and because there are little to no other options, they end up getting stuck with an UNETHICALLY high vet bill and their pets don't even make it. My friend also had her two baby frenchies killed there by an inexperienced trainee who "accidentally" suffocated one of them because he or she didn't know what they were doing. The only reason she found out what really happened was because when they called her to ask if she'd like for them to resuscitate one of them, after their conversation the vet tech she spoke to didn't properly hang up the phone and she overheard that vet tech and another staff member LAUGHING and talking about how one of the new trainees accidentally killed her baby. Imagine the horror? They offered her hush money of $500 and "suspended" the staff members. We rushed our cat to Edinburgh-Mcallen vet hospital and told us that they weren't supposed to remove the catheter from my cat. I've been taking my pets to this clinic for years, however, the service I've been experiencing as of lately has been "piss poor" at best. For example, I took my FEMALE cat, Dusty, to get checked because she wasn't feel well. I waited a total of 5 hours till anyone asked about her, an additional hour till they finally checked her out! I mean COME ON...got there at 4pm left at 10ish pm. I called to check up on her because she had to stay over night, was placed on hold for fifteen minutes. After waiting for the tech (Luis), to get an update, he finally got back to me and proceeded to ask, "How can I help you?", I about lost it! I mean, the competance of the employee(s) led me to question it. If you put a returning customer on hold, and forget...try writing it down for shit's sake! He wouldn't move and he would pee himself. I knew he was going to die if he didn't get help. After watching their security footage of a bulldog dying while their techs were cutting his nails while holding him around the throat, I do not recommend this place. From personal experience as well, their pricing is ridiculous and they require payment upfront before treating your pets. Overall, this company needs a whole revamp on their services. read more
