Based on my experience on July 8 and July 9, I cannot recommend this company to other pet owners. I scheduled grooming appointments for both of my dogs and the groomer arrived late. After the grooming was completed, my dogs were left locked in kennels for an additional hour after their service was completed instead of anyone calling to let me know they were ready. I only found out they had finished because I called the store to check on them. I gave very specific instructions for each dog's haircut, and none of those instructions were followed. The grooming did not resemble what I had requested for either dog. When I called to request a refund due to both the poor grooming and overall experience, I was transferred between multiple employees before finally speaking with the supervisor, Carol. From the moment she answered the phone, her tone was unprofessional and dismissive. She told me that I could receive a refund, but only if I returned to that specific store. I explained that I had traveled a significant distance to that location and would not be able to make another trip just to receive a refund. She responded that returning to the store was my only option if I wanted my money back. When I asked her to please refund the original payment method instead, she stated that she "didn't have time for this" and hung up on me. Later that day, I returned to the store to request my refund. Coincidentally, Carol was my cashier and I asked why she had hung up on me, and she claimed it was because I had been yelling. That simply isn't true. If PetSmart reviews its recorded phone calls, they will hear that I never raised my voice, used profanity, or behaved unprofessional in any way. The two employees I spoke with before being transferred to Carol can also confirm that. During our conversation in the store, I asked whether I could have received my refund at another PetSmart location. Carol responded, "Oh yeah, you can get it at any location." Had she not hung up on me earlier, that information would have saved me a long drive back to the original store. When I pointed that out, she simply shrugged her shoulders and motioned for me to move along while processing the refund. As she counted cash from the register, I asked if she could please refund the purchase to my original form of payment instead. She ignored my question entirely and continued counting the money without acknowledging me. Only after she finished did she look up and say that debit card purchases are refunded in cash because "it's on the receipt." The entire experience--from the late appointments, poor grooming, lack of communication, inaccurate information, and dismissive customer service--was unacceptable. I expected much better from a company this size that people trust with the care of their pets. Carol, do better you old hag.

Vets vary in quality and their level of knowledge, but Dr. Wright set my mind at ease. She took the time to go over the pros and cons of types of spays and the things she brought up align exactly with the studies I read. She also shared some things I did not know about a skin issue she has. She was patient and understanding with my malinois who can be a real pill at the vet for certain procedures. This office acknowledged the challenges and mentioned that there are things we can do together to help alleviate my dog's anxiety over time including how she is handled by staff which is more important than just jumping to the strongest drugs and ripping through an exam. In the dog world the Pet Doctor is considered one of the best reproductive vets you can see and one of the only to offer an ovary sparing spay so across the board I feel like I am in good hands at this vet for a spay and ongoing care.

For nearly nine years, The Pet Dr was the place I trusted completely with my dogs, my family. Dr. Fujie was exceptional: knowledgeable, compassionate, and always took the time to explain what was happening and what our options were. When you have a dog who is more than a pet, he's your companion, your shadow, your best friend, that kind of care means everything. Then things changed. My dog is 13 years young. I brought him in for vaccinations and a wellness checkup, where Dr. Romman heard a heart murmur and recommended an X-ray. The results showed an enlarged heart, later confirmed by a radiologist to include tumors on his heart and thyroid. When those results came back, I called to speak with Dr. Romman -- not only to understand what we were facing, but to ask something as simple as whether it was safe to board him while we traveled. I never got that call back. What I received was a call to schedule an EKG. When we returned from our trip, I called again. And again, the following week. My wife finally did hear from Dr. Romman. When my wife let me know what was shared, I asked if they would do anything because of his age or how much time he has left. I called back to have a conversation and when I did get a call from Dr Romman, she spent more time explaining they had tried to reach me than talking about my dog's care. We were eventually referred to an oncologist at Blue Pearl, where we learned that surgery and chemo were not options at his age. We were told to enjoy the time we had left with him. Today, I called because my boy's stomach had become severely bloated and he was gagging more than before. He had lost weight because he was not eating and by switching to canned food, he got his appetite back. I got an appointment to be seen that afternoon, only to receive a callback minutes later with a staff member relaying that Dr. Romman wanted to know "what I wanted to accomplish from the visit." I stated he has a bloated stomach and what I read online, it could be serious like a twisted stomach and my goal was to hopefully address this health issue. She replied that I needed to see a specialist and they were a general practice clinic and do not have the specialized equipment to treat my dog. The Pet Dr. website says 'Our veterinarians offer a wide variety of medical, surgical and dental services. Our hospital has advanced equipment and technologies, including comprehensive in-house testing for accurate diagnosis, digital x-ray, surgical suite, dental suite and a pharmacy. I asked if he did not have tumors and we just called for a bloated stomach would he be seen or sent to a specialist. She said to a specialist. She told me Dr. Romman would see us if we wanted palliative care. I am trying to keep our best friend comfortable and happy for whatever time he has left and not just put him down. This is a dog who has been a patient here for nearly a decade. He is not a case number, he is family. He deserved better. We deserved better. If you are navigating a serious diagnosis with a senior pet and simply need a compassionate vet in your corner, please consider whether this practice will show up for you when it truly matters. Based on my experience, I'm not confident they will. To Dr. Fujie, wherever you are: thank you for treating our boy like the family member he always has been.

After our local training place closed we were looking for other options and committed to positive reinforcement training. Julia did a 2 week board & train with our dog while we were traveling, mainly focusing on leash skills and practicing calm behavior around exciting things. We noticed an immediate improvement, but have also been continuing to work on the training at home after our follow up. I'm happy to report that we are continuing to see improvement using Julia's methods.

Mel offered to take him in no questions asked, and make sure he didn't get into (too much) trouble. The resort itself is great, so much room to run around and rest (but mostly run around). Mel put as much love and care into creating the resort that she does into taking care of her pups! She kept in touch with us regularly, sharing pictures, and giving updates. We could tell he was having such a great time! Rates are also super reasonable for the VIP service our pup gets, with a discount for longer stays.
