The same staff I struggled with was there but other's had joined which seemed to create accountability. I find the facilities clean and the staff generally polite, but the level of politeness definitely varies from one customer to the next. This is observable from the waiting room. The doctor's and assistants are professional and personable. I generally see Dr. Kraabel, but have see a different Dr. for the last two visits. I recently scheduled an appointment when my Sheba showed signs of an ear infection. He had also developed an occasional tearing from one eye which this doctor had observed in May. I suspected his eye may have been scratched from my other dog's tail. For cost reasons I had been applying a human prescription lubricant which I brought in to make sure it was safe; the Dr. made no recommendations. I asked her to take another look at this visit which she did. After a brief exam she suggested a glaucoma test, when I hesitated she told me the worst case scenario, losing an eye without warning and I quickly agreed. The assistant had taken an ear swab when we arrived and now the Dr. escorted my pup to the back. When she returned a few moments later she told me he didn't have an ear infection and showed me how to clean his ears by unrolling the cotton ball and inserting it in his ear. She then went over my entire bill; almost $400. I was aghast, this was more than when he gets the expensive ear treatment. I tried to back out of the $77.00 glaucoma test, but it was already done. It was then she told me that that test was negative as well and suggested a cheap bottle of eye drops. In the end I spent almost $250.00 (with flushes and drops to be filled elsewhere) to be told my dog doesn't have an ear infection and needed eye drops. The doctor later sent results in which the findings showed mild conjunctivitis, yet she withheld that information, choosing to use fear in order to motivate me into agreeing to an unnecessary test. This was a shameful exploitation of the pet connection (a trend among vets) as well as a betrayal of integral trust one must have with the medical profession. All of that, on top of ridiculously high charges for a simple office visit. I left feeling I had been played; swindled, legally, but robbed none-the-less. Needless to say, I will search high and low to find an alternative medical provider for my pets.

I love this place and have always felt good about our visits here. My pup loves coming here because everyone still dotes over her even though she is no longer the little puppy she once was. Oh my goodness, she was such a cutie when we brought her in at 12 weeks... everyone was enamored but I always figured "who doesn't love a puppy?" I thought that would wear off... but nope. The staff all love her and make her so happy to be there she never even notices she gotten a shot or had her nails trimmed. It's almost a social visit for her! Twice, we've had after hour emergencies and had to take our pup to Blue Pearl. I felt like I was cheating on Dr. Le and BVH. But, I also know the crew at Blue Pearl are good folks and they don't charge extra for after hours service. Now, get this - BP and BVH are on some system where they "talk" to each other! BVH knows when I've had to go to BP (busted! :) ) and they called me to see how our puppy was doing after our BP visit! How awesome is that?!?! Just a simple phone call but it really made me feel they care about our pup's well being. At our next follow up visit, I explained why we had to take our pup to BP and they were very supportive of the decision. And said they wholly support us going to BP during times of need. Needless to say, BVH is our place and Dr. Le is our top doc!

My cat had a very bad experience with his euthanasia because of this. Every time the door slammed he jumped. It took several tries to get enough medicine in him for him to go down. A very stressful situation that could have been avoided. After going to a different vet, I learned the prednilasone my old cat had been prescribed by Burien Vet should have been monitored more closely, She had a heart murmur which became a heart gallop. Prednilasone exacerbates heart conditions in cats. I was surprised this wasn't discussed by Burien Vet and glad my cat is now being seen by a vet who will keep an eye on this.

We are fur sitting our daughters senior baby boy while she's out of state. On our watch, he got a hold of grandpas 68% Peruvian dark chocolate he forgot he left on his food tray. While no one was looking Shostakovich sniffed it out. And of course ate it. Although he's deaf, somewhat not able to see very well due to cataracts, and multiple health issues, he seems to find the chocolate stashes when he stays with us. His littler mate brother who actually lives with us never does. This is Shostakovich third time doing this. And we make sure to scour the place of chocolate before he comes over. Apparently not good enough. This time around we didn't even contact poison control, we drive at fast as we can to VEG er. We didn't want anything to happy while on our watch. So induce vomiting, checking vitals, since he is a high risk dog, who is going in 15 years old, high heart rate, and high BP, Dr. Shaw and poison control felt it was necessary to monitor Shostakovich overnight. So next morning after six hours of monitoring Shosta was released. We are still making sure he's ok since he had Gastro issues as well. Bit due to the chocolate, it was a separate issue he already had, but per our daughters request they tested him for it. Our daughter paid that portion of the bill. Our bill for the chocolate incident was 2300.00 yes it very high. But since it's on our watch we didn't want to have our daughter pay, the bill she had to pay for testing was about 1800.00 So whoever is reading this...get pet insurance! Our daughter has spent thousands and thousands of dollars due to his health. People say just put him down. We say, that's not an option. Even though he's a senior dog, he runs around like he's a puppy still, he's happy, doesn't show signs of pain. He's a little stinker for always getting trouble since he was born the runt of the litter, and grew double the size of his brother. But has more health issues than his brother. But unless doctors say otherwise, he will get loved until it's time. So thanks Dr. Shaw and staff for taking care of our grandfur Shostakovich. Also, their facility is way larger than others we've been to. We live closer to others, but we didn't mind the 20 minute drive. Plus after being there all night we finally got to eat dinner at midnight. It's nice that this place is not too far from the only Del Taco in the state.

Everything from scheduling, front desk staff, vet techs, vets, email communication and care for our pets has been wonderful. We have a younger dog who requires little care beyond vaccines and check ups; he thinks going here is like going to the greatest dog camp ever and that he is the main attraction/celebrity! Treats and pets in abundance. Our older guy has had some recent cancer treatment for lymphoma (the tougher kind) so we got some initial info here then they recommended us out as we needed a higher and more specialized level of care and treatment (multi-phased chemotherapy). It's also a good time to note that we use Trupanion pet insurance and do recommend that too; it helps us take finances mostly out of the equation when we need treatment for unpredictable accidents and illnesses for our fur babies.
