Where does it say "Final Sale"?
    Tara G.

Don't go here. Poor customer service. And beware if you buy anything from the "Last Chance" bin: Nowhere on this bin, nor on the merchandise, does it say "Final Sale" but the employees enforce a strict "Final Sale" policy. They said "Last Chance" implies "Final Sale" ... no it does not. It could mean this product or brand will be discontinued. It can mean many things. The merchandise needs to be clearly labeled if it doesn't qualify for your return policy.

Located on the corner of Telegraph and Alcatraz. A few parking spaces in front. Pet Food Express has an ongoing deal where you buy 3 of bags of food or treats and you get a fourth free. They have a variety of brands and carry what we feed our dog. They have a dog wash but i dont remember having used this location's wash. The staff is very friendly and we've always received great customer service. They have been low on inventory and selection and it happens.. Delayed delieveries or what have you. (Not to the point of a barren store). When trying something new, we were informed we would be able to return item(s) even if opened if it didn't work out. Haven't had to do it but that's nice to hear.

Wow I was blown away by the customer service at this Pet Food Express. I stopped in quickly for some new dog food and Miles was beyond helpful. He walked me through the whole store offering suggestions about which dog food options were the healthiest for the best price. I got this new pack of food on sale and my dog loves it! Everything is organized in the store and very reasonably priced. I love how there are full refunds on all items, even the food if your pet doesn't like it. Anything you return, gets donated to the a pet shelter or humane society!! That's amazing so nothing goes to waste. I also bought a dog chew toy and a few chew treats which smelled really good!

I rated this place 5 stars about 2 years ago and have to say this place has stayed consistent: very welcoming atmosphere, great customer service and 'how can I help' attitude! I walked in looking for a more natural flea control option for my 2 pets as their monthly treatment doesn't seem to be enough - itchy/scratchy dogs, raw areas and a lot of licking and chewing so off to the pest control aisle Arielle quickly offered assistance. Extremely friendly and knowledgable of the products offered and the pros and cons...I could've talked 'pet talk' with her for hours! She mentioned 10 other people came in before me with the same issue which was somewhat of a relief. i can tell Arielle loves her job and helping people! I know I'm gushing but seriously she was awesome and really took her time which is greatly appreciated! I did end up with a bunch of natural flea control from spray, bedding powder, hot spot treatment and suggested I get a cone or 'doggie onesie' to prevent the pups from licking...ohhhh my dog ain't gonna have that! Anyways..definitely shop at Pet Food Express as you'll always great, consistent, informative service.

Love having a pet store so close to home that the pup and I can walk a few blocks to. Clean store! I always see plenty of parking in their lot in case I needed to drive. I buy Blue Wilderness and the selection was small- but had what I came for! With it being so much fewer than other stores for Blue, I worry they'd run out... we'll see! Super nice gal named Alex helped me and asked about petting my wolf. Sadly, my girl is a mean one with others (there is a bubble around her you simply cannot reach into) and Alex was funny and understanding about it! Happy to have dog lovers around who also know how to respond to animals too!

Pretty sure I first met Ron at the Bway location, but he was just as kind and helpful this go around. Super patient and knowledgeable! One piece of advice - your side panels have room for one more rescue dog. I'm sure Nala would love to be featured; she came from Oakland SPCA :)

The staff members here are uniformly friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. True animal lovers all, you see it in their faces when they interact with your pet. They have a great range of products for sale, all high-quality. Petfood express can be a little bit expensive but they don't skimp on their selections and take care in their choices. The washing stations are a great option for those with medium to larger dogs and offer an economical alternative to professional grooming if you don't need the hair clipping aspect they provide.

They were so kind, as we said goodbye to our tiny boy that we had bottle fed and raised from birth. The in house diagnostics are great. We didn't have to wait long at all for the test results. The 2nd time, we brought in our elderly girl. She was 16. When her vet turned us away when we came to tell them we were coming in (they told us "maybe tomorrow"), we headed here. She'd been sick a while, we knew it was coming. Of course, that didn't make it any easier. The staff here was absolutely wonderful. As soon as we walked in, they took us out of the lobby so we wouldn't have to sit with all the happy/healthy animals. They didn't question us, they saw her and told us we were making the right choice. They brought her a soft cat bed to lay in. They gave us all the time we needed to hold her and love her, until we were ready. No pressure. Then they allowed my 16 year old daughter to hold her beloved girl until she was gone. We were allowed more time with her. Then they gave us each a vile of her beautiful fur. We weren't rushed. We did everything on our terms/time. And our girl left this world surrounded in love. I would 100% recommend PETS Referral Center. I hope we never have to go back. But, we would of we had too.

I went online and filled out the forms necessary for an emergency visit. When I arrived they were already expecting her, despite it being 4th of July, things moved quickly. Our dog was of old age, not eating, and lethargic. I was expecting that it was likely she was in the middle of passing away, which the team confirmed. The team put me in a room where I could talk with my family and make a decision with them (since I was dog sitting and everyone else was out of town). While the decision needed to be made quickly about next steps, they were empathetic and patient with us. We opted to put our girl to sleep; she was in a lot of suffering. The doctor was so respectful and it was a peaceful process. Thank you for caring for our Chispita. We are grateful for a sad yet peaceful experience.

She once pinned a dog, bit another dog's ear, and aggressively stared at other dogs inciting lots of barking. Working with Kathy has been incredible. She truly is a dog whisperer. Keba LOVES Kathy and is over joyed every time she gets to see her. Kathy was actually training us more than Keba (who was keen to be trained). Working with Kathy was a game changer. In sessions she would demonstrate what she was teaching us, then have each my husband and I try and correct us while we practiced. She provided us so many tools (e.g. squirt gun, e-collar, pinch collar, muzzle) to help train Keba and showed us how to use them in a minimal and humane way. Kathy gave us confidence to keep Keba's aggression in check and reduce it. I'm excited to share that Keba is starting pack walks next week where she can socialize with other dogs. None of this would have been possible without Kathy. Plus, Kathy is a wonderful and fun person to spend time with. Thank you Kathy!

We had already tried multiple trainers, different techniques, and even followed our vet's suggestion to try antidepressants--but nothing was helping (in fact, the medication only made things worse). The moment I spoke to Kathy on the phone, I felt confident she truly understood the problem and could guide us in the right direction. And she absolutely has. Over the past year, Checkers has made tremendous progress thanks to Kathy's knowledge, patience, and the clear guidance she gave us. We followed her suggestions carefully--even switching vets based on her recommendation--and the results have been life-changing. Earlier this year, we had to travel out of the country and trusted Kathy to board Checkers. During that time, he developed a beautiful bond with her partner Dan. This was nothing short of amazing, as Checkers has always been fearful of men. Watching their relationship grow has been such a gift. With Kathy's help (and the influence of her own two balanced dogs), Checkers has learned how to be a dog--something I once thought might never happen. He now participates in pack walks and can even run off-leash in the fields, something I couldn't have imagined a year ago. If you're struggling with your dog's behavior and feel like nothing is working, do yourself and your dog a favor and call Kathy. She and Dan have changed our lives, and I am endlessly grateful for the care and dedication they've shown to Checkers and to us.

Seeing birds like corellas confined to small cages in pet stores is heartbreaking. These are highly intelligent, deeply social animals that naturally live in large flocks, spending their days flying, playing, and interacting with one another. The "exotic pet" trade removes animals from the wild or breeds them for sale, often in poor and inhumane conditions. Many birds end up isolated, neglected, or abandoned once people realize how complex their needs actually are. The corella pictured here from this store was desperately reaching for affection through the cage bars. No sentient being should be treated as a product to buy and sell. Please stop selling animals. Instead, work with rescues to help the many birds already in need of homes, and support efforts to ultimatelyend the exotic pet trade.

Folks at Your Basic Bird, please, please stop selling live animals. There is no need for this unethical practice in 2026, and I believe that you are good people. It had gotten so serious that we had even begun discussing the heartbreaking possibility of rehoming her, simply for the safety of everyone involved. That fear, and the emotional pain that came with it, weighed heavily on our hearts. But after just one session with Gusty, that painful thought is now firmly in the past. Enter Gusty. In just one session, our lives changed. The nuisance barking stopped entirely. Our dog no longer jumps up on us when we walk through the door, even when she's excited. Her nipping and playfully aggressive behavior has been replaced by belly-up submissiveness and endless kisses. She's calmer, more docile, and truly feels like a different dog. What impressed me most was that all of this happened while my four-year-old son was in the background, constantly needing my attention. Gusty was incredibly patient, understanding, and focused throughout. She clearly cares deeply about what she does and wants nothing more than to help dogs and their human family. During our next sessions, we'll work on leash training and eventually help our dog learn that she doesn't need to be so protective of our son.
