Really disappointing experience. Took my dog in for a 1pm appointment on a Sunday. He sat in a kennel for over 1.5 hours as he waited for the single groomer to be ready. Whole appointment took over 3 hours. It should be noted that my dog doesn't even have doodle/poodle hair. They should not even booked me if this was going to be the case. Jem, the manager, and overall every staff member today were true heroes for taking Xena in last minute after a wonderful goose droppings roll around on the Fourth of July (a few days ago). I was desperate for a groomer for days and was so, so thankful when the team at Rockridge graciously responded promptly and squeezed Xena in on a relatively busy Saturday afternoon, no less. I feel that the team here is so genuine and caring towards Xena, I couldn't believe they still had Xena's polaroid up from 2021 (over two years ago) and grooming notes, detailing how she cannot be put into cages or kennels in the back, anxiety with dryers, etc. I left Xena for a quick 90-120 minute appointment without worrying and trusted that the team would do right by my little senior gal. Dog Grooming- I've known Monica for years and she is the only person I'll let groom my dog, Baba. Baba consistently goes in a hot mess and comes out so fluffy, clean, smells SO GOOD, and his nails are perfectly cut. Which a vet once told me they needed to SEDATE my dog, which honestly, he just gets agitated and they escalated the situation. But he does perfect with Monica! She knows dogs and dog behavior which I feel is so important to making sure a dog isn't stressed during grooming. Then of course there's the actual cut, he looks SO HANDSOME after every cut. We have been coming to this place for grooming since our 30 lbs poodle mix was a puppy. The two stars are because the groomers and the staff are really good and helpful people. We really love Eva's work. This review is mostly for the recent management decisions. We usually pay $140ish + tips for a groom, which usually is just a shave down and sometimes just a bath + facial trim. This price is obviously on the higher end of what the rates are in the area, but we still come here because we absolutely love the groomers and the staff. Recently we were informed that we will be charged $200+ (I think we were quoted $240 before tips) regardless of the cut we get. This is absolutely atrocious. We will not coming here going forward. I am leaving this review so that the management/ownership gets some feedback. This short sighted decision will affect the rest of the business. Every time we come here for grooming, we usually spend $70-$100 in other pet supplies even though Pet Food Express is just down the street and offers the same selection for much cheaper. I really hope they rethink this decision but otherwise good luck with the business. read more

What started as a well-oiled machine a couple years ago has now resulted in continuous last minute cancellations (as already mentioned in my original review), rescheduling, and inability to accommodate the volume of customers. Healthy Spot continues to overbook, and then is unable to fulfill grooming commitments and gives you a "take it or leave it" attitude. We won't be going back. read more

I've been taking my dog here for a few years now and we absolutely love Eva! Every time I pick up my dog, she has a cute, accessory on! Now, here's the reason why I'm only giving Healthy Spot 1 star. After our last visit, I was informed that they have increased their price for poodles specifically (mix included) as it takes longer to groom poodles. My dog is a Maltese/Poodle mix and she weighs about 10-11 lbs and I usually pay $120-$130 plus tip. I'm aware that it's a bit pricey compare to other groomers, but, Eva is so good with my dog and the front staff are all generally nice so I'm willing to pay premium. However, with the price increase, I've been informed that going forward, my new rate will be $180. How do you justify a $50 increase for a 10 pound poodle mix dog? And the increase is only for poodle/mix? So the size of the pet does not matter? You can groom a 50-75 lbs golden retriever for less? This does not make any sense, and as much as we love Eva, I've decided to take my dog to another groomer. I unfortunately cannot justify paying $180 (not including tip) to groom a 10 pounder dog. read more

Our go-to has always been Healthy Spot, previously the one in Mission Bay until they opened up the Rockridge store (thank god!) Our puppy Riley has always been afraid of grooming so we make sure to tire him out before taking him to the groomer. Riley's favorite groomer is Koko and she has always been great with Riley. We like to keep his hair short but still cute and Koko seems to know just the right amount of hair to cut so he doesn't end up looking like a rat. Lol. For a doodle like Riley, it takes her about 3-4 hours to wash and cut him. My favorite is the little bib or tie they always send him home with -- definitely cherry on top. Sadly, Koko is leaving California so we will be asking for another groomer at Healthy Spot. We are hoping they are as good as Koko! read more

TL;DR - If you care how your dog is groomed, DO NOT bring them to these amateurs. Brought my spaniel here for a limited groom - feet, ears and sanitary. Somehow there was a miscommunication between the bather and the groomer and they trimmed all of the feathers (fur on the back of the arms and legs). This is NEVER done on a spaniel in standard grooming and specifically asked to leave them. It will take 6+ mo to grow back. I'm devastated. read more

I've been going to Healthy Spot for almost 3 years now. My favorite groomer is Lori Ng, who grooms my 8 lb Maltese and 27 lb Cockapoo. She has such a huge heart for dogs, and is highly skilled, meticulous, and each time makes my dogs look like show dogs every time I bring them in. No joke! She is the real deal and I recommend her highly. The front desk folks are also very nice, helpful, and friendly, and will work with you to provide your pet's needs regarding diet and supplements. They carry a wide array of high quality foods, including freeze dried raw and raw foods, as well as treats, chews, toys and clothes. While grooming prices are not cheap, you get what you pay for and I can guarantee you'll be happy with the results!!! read more

They have a great array of high quality treats and toys, but the real gems here are the staff who have been nothing but amazingly generous with their time, their knowledge, and their heavy handed treat giving. I get my young Bernedoodle groomed here and am ecstatic with the results. And I credit much of his being the best boy ever to the additional socialization and care I've gotten from staff when we visit the store. They've been more invested in giving me detailed advice than my vet when it comes to my dog's care and nutrition. You can tell that everyone here loves pets and will take good care of your dog. Not a good experience as a first time client. I brought my Chihuahua in for a shampoo and nail trim. First appointment was cancelled 2 hours prior. OK, that happens. They could not blow dry the dog as they said she was very anxious. This did not surprise me. After getting a text saying that they needed my assistance, I went into the store and was told about the blow drying and that she would be out soon. They then asked me if I wanted to pay to save time. OK, good idea.... Then the cashier suggested I add a tip. I felt uncomfortable and went ahead a tipped without the appointment being over. Someone came out and asked if I could help with the dog on the nail trim because she was very anxious. I had to go in the back where they groom the dogs and hold my dog while they tried to trim the nails. So, I guess they can't provide service for some dogs. $55.00 later, I leave with a wet dog and with partially trimmed nails. no one seemed to care. When I got home I blow dried my dog and trimmed the other nails myself. First and last grooming here. They don't honor your appointment time. They rush through service and you'll still pay full price. Overall awful experience for puppy's 1st grooming experience. Give them another chance? No thank you. There are better businesses that I would rather give $55 to. read more
