I've been taking my pup here for the past year to get bathed in the self wash station. The service here is amazing, the staff is very lovely and attentive. The wash stations are always clean as are the towels. You may have to wait for a station to be available on weekends and on weekdays after 5PM, but I've never had to wait any longer than 5 minutes. The cost for self wash is ($18) and you're welcome to bring your own shampoo/conditioning but the station has three different complimentary shampoos, one has conditioner mixed in it and smells like vanilla (my personal favorite). They also have promotional items from time to time, so you might be lucky one day and take a free treat home for your furry friend. The parking is in the back so don't stress trying to snag parking in the front, there's plenty of space in the back and just a few steps from the store. read more

Yes, the prices seem slightly more expensive at Pet Food Express than the prices at Petco or PetSmart, but I definitely would go here for my dog's needs. The size of the store is just right, and there's a pretty good selection of food and treats for your cat or dog. Definitely not as overwhelming as a Petco or a PetSmart. The staff has also been pretty friendly and welcoming. They answered all of my questions when I wanted to try frozen food for our dog who recently became a picky eater. Tried to look for frozen food choices at PetSmart, and Pet Food Express actually had more choices. Moreover, our dog's favorite frozen treats, The Bear and the Rat frozen cup treats in different flavors, are also offered here at Pet Food Express unlike PetSmart. Lucky to run into a sale... buy 3 boxes get 1 free! I have one lucky pup!!!!! Parking is pretty easy since there's a big lot behind the store. My dog hates baths, but he tolerates getting a bath at the self wash station at Pet Food Express. Thank goodness there are in Pasadena since we go to the dog park everyday. Lots of drool and dirt! The bath is 25 minutes now (used to be 15) and has three types of shampoos and a blow dryer. The store itself has a lot of natural treats and dog food if that's your thing. They also have a working scale to weigh your pet. I also saw cats being adopted there so you can find a new best friend there if you want. If your dog weighs over 40 lbs Or has medium/long fur I would opt for grooming instead of the self wash. $15 gets you 20 minutes to wash AND dry. This was my second time using the self wash and decided to get the pack (4 washes for $45) because I figured it would take me at least 2 tokens to fully or mostly dry my dog. Last time we only used one and he was still really wet when I left. In the end, I just asked for a refund instead. I hope this saves someone with a big dog the hassle if you're on the fence. My dog is GSD/pit/lab mix weighs 55 lbs with medium length coarse fur. Staff was really nice to my dog but the experience was inconvenient. I used 2 other companies before (LA) and I'm usually in and out in about 30 minutes but I really don't see how that would be possible here with the weak water and vacuum pressure. read more

I have been here before to purchase a few things for my dog but to be honest I don't shop here often because I do find the prices of things are a bit to expensive...but to each there own. This visit I decided to stop by on a Sunday to use the self service dog bath. The store opened at 10am and I was up extremely early to try and be one of the first ones there, I got to the store about 10:10am and only one bathing station was available. Being that it was my first time trying this out I asked the employee to show me the ropes and he was definitely nice and helpful. The employee walked me over to the open bath and explained to me how it all works and also highly suggested I use one of the aprons to save myself from being drenched in water lol. Once you pay $15 for a token you will be handed a couple of clean towels and when you are ready to start the bath you insert the token and your 25 minuets will begin. You do have a selection of 3 different types of shampoos that are provided and included on the price paid for the token. I surly thought to myself that 25 min was not going to be enough time especially since I have a fluffy furry dog but to my surprise it was just the right amount of time. The BEST part of this experience is you don't have to clean up the mess lol even though I wiped down the counters with the towels that were provided, you still get to leave them there and call it a day. **Parking is FREE on Sunday's in the back of the store. read more

Ah! New favorite place! Wonderful staff too! I recommend bringing your own shampoo brush and other supplies to groom out your pup after their bath! PFE provides aprons, towels, soaps, and dryer all in one area! It's a very cute set up and their tub is high enough where you won't have to break your back washing your pup and deep enough that your pup will stay in! It is ($15 for 25minutes) so I suggest putting a timer! First you would have to go to the registers to purchase a "token" for the pet wash and then put in the token into the machine & you can begin your bath! They also provide waterproof collars (super helpful) so yours won't get wet! I love their dryers cause it dries my pups fur really quick and it blows out cool air so it won't dry the fur out either! Back lot has free 90 minute parking! PFE also has a deal when you buy 3 baths, you'll get the 4th one free for around $45! Or it is $15 per visit, so I'm definitely coming back for this deal! PFE also supplies all pet essentials from beds, foods, leashes etc. for dogs and cats! There's also a cute bakery that has treats! VIP Pet care also comes on Sat from 4-5:30pm! & there are pet adoptions as well! (Not sure when those are) but still an wonderful event to have! This location is in a large plaza. They blocked off the entrance on Lake. You have to go around to the back parking lot. You have to pay to park in the front and in the back lot. The employees were very nice and they will ask if you need any assistance with anything. It's a smaller store compared to the other locations I have been in. I liked that everything was clearly labeled, well stocked, and the store is very clean. I found everything I needed quickly to be in and out of the store. They have Rainbow Pride treats at the counter!!!! I appreciated that the employee who rung me up told me about a special deal that they were having and I was able to receive a free treat. Adopted my cat, Maple. They partnered with the Pasadena Humane Society. For cat adoptions, the hours are a little unreliable. The adoptions are handled by volunteers and are not employees of Pet Food Express. As mentioned by many, the prices are higher here, but the customer experience is nice. Such as clean, organized facilities and friendly, helpful staff. Example I was looking at cat food (nulo, turkey and duck), and it's a few dollars more for the same product, compared to chewy for a 5lb bag. There is a huge parking lot in the back. read more

I was taking my Maltipoo (Moana) at a place that would give her unlimited baths with a monthly fee. Unfortunately, they closed and so I thought about going to Pet Food Express. I like the cleanliness of their bathing area. They provide you with an apron and towels. I liked their different shampoo scents that they have available, but I brought my own dog shampoo. It was nice being able to bathe my dog for 25 minutes, and not having to clean up the bathing area afterwards. The best part of it all was that I did not have to be down on my knees to bathe my dog. I took advantage of purchasing the buy 3 get 1 free bathing packages. One bath is $15, but for $45 you'll get 4 baths. They usually have specials for their treats. This place is amazing! Higher prices yes, but you get what you pay for. All of their supplies and food are of the highest quality but most of all their employees go above and beyond every time we go. Our last dog needed to be muzzled because he was highly reactive, despite his "unappealing" look they respected his need for space and still made his visit very fun and rewarding for him. The self wash is so much fun and they have everything you'd possibly need to make your furry friend smell their best. Let's not forget about the small bakery as well, everything is wonderful and definitely our favorite place to shop for our 4 legged family members. I wanted to throw the biggest and best birthday party for my 1 year old puppy! They have varying sizes and flavors of cakes available. You can choose from carob (basically like chocolate), peanut butter, and coconut, which are in the freezer. You can bring it to the cashier who will then write a cute birthday message on it. It took around 10 minutes for them to write, so we just walked around the store picking up toys and a few treats along the way. The woman who helped us was very kind as well, which made the experience that much better. She also pointed out the pink birthday hat which I definitely bought for $5.99. They have two sizes depending on how big your dog's head is. I believe pink is the only color available. Luckily, my boy dog knows color is not attributed to any gender so he was cool with it. Wanted to give an update after going in today with my mother and her 3 year old Golden Lab to use the self wash. Everyone still says good morning and the store looks clean and inviting. The one girl with the cool ring tattoo made extra effort to start the water running to make sure it was warm for when we had to start bathing our young, large (sometimes difficult) dog. I love love LOVE Pet Food Express! I'm literally here every week or so. Here are a few reasons why Pet Food Express is so awesome. I love their B3G4 (buy 3 get 4th free) in every category of food, treats, deli, toys, and even washes! I'm that crazy dog mom that finds myself here purchasing way too much stuff and justifying it with "it's buy 3 get 4th freeeeeee"! My Shiba Inu pup loves their bully sticks and Stella's and Chewy's freeze dried food. Their washes are also great because it is spacious, they provide aprons, waterproof leash, towels, and it is a 25 minute wash with shampoo, rinse, and blow dry. The return policy is also great because I have purchased food in the past that my shiba pup wasn't fond of and they happily took it back. Lastly, the staff is so sweet and helpful! Today I went to pet express to purchase a much better dry kibble for my 10 year old mini pin/doxie mix. If I could give more stars I would gladly. I had the help of a wonderful expert there named Cindy. She was so knowledgeable about the different brands of dog foods and more. She sent over a half a hour making recommendations for my pup which will be much healthier for him. I was very impressed on her expertise. She mentioned grandma Lucy's freeze dried to transition into or possible the options to mix with the kibble. A large bag on Granada's is around 90 dollars but it makes 50 pounds. I surprised because other brands of f freeze dried are very expensive. She made the recommendation of Fromm dry food which is also grain free, has many varieties, less expensive and also a much healthier choice, then my usual brand. I will drive to Pasadena and I live in Glendora gladly because of the great experience I have had there with the help of Cindy. I also have multiple pets and spend around 300 to 400 a month a petsmart. I won't be going back. Thanks Cindy for the help today. read more

OMG this place is awesome!! I ordered a cake online for my dog from thedogbakery.com and set pick up for this location. I was already headed this way today but pickup time was tomorrow. So i called to see if i could pick it up today and had some questions in regards to it. Carlene was so helpful and answered all my questions. When i got there, i went to the bakery and the gentleman there was so friendly and sweet. I picked up some other pupcakes and treats and he even told me which ones were the favs (im a regular at The Dog Bakery so i have an idea) but it was hus generous gesture and sincere effort to want to help me that made my visit so satisfying. The location: its a nice sized location. They have steps that lead to the back entrance and also a ramp which is great coz one of my dogs is in a wheelchair so we really appreciate ramps. They also have a little green patch for dogs to pee. The store is very clean and organized. Inventory: huge inventory of different brands. They have all the good brands such as Stella & Chewys, Tikidog, Werwuva, and they even carry Just Food For Dogs. There's also a wide variety of raw diet, dry raw diet, which is hard to find in most pet stores when it comes to selection and variety. There food selection is huge, they also have a descent size variety of toys, leashes, and treats. They even have a deli bar for dogs as well. And of course, The Dog Bakery itself has a section. There is also a self grooming section as well. Pricing: they are a tad bit expensive than your average store but not outrageous. Im a conservative shopper so i do most most of the dog supplies online. But if im in a rish for something, i wouldnt mind spending more here just for the great customer service!
