I found The Dog Bakery in Pasadena through Yelp when I was looking for something special for our dog's first birthday. My planning was a little last-minute, and I learned that full dog cakes need to be ordered ahead of time. Luckily, they had a great selection of ready-made mini cakes and treats available. The shop is small and cute, with both a bakery section and a small selection of dog products. Since our dog is little and didn't need an entire cake, the individual mini cakes and cake bites worked out perfectly. We bought several different treats so she could enjoy them over a few days. This bakery definitely knows what dogs like because our dog absolutely loved everything. She devoured each treat with so much excitement. We've bought her dog cookies and cakes from pet stores before, but she has never eaten those with the same enthusiasm. Every time we gave her something from The Dog Bakery, she ate it with pure joy. The treats were reasonably priced, fresh-looking, beautifully decorated, and a good size. Honestly, if I didn't know they were made for dogs, I would have been tempted to try one myself! The staff was also friendly, and there was a good variety of ready-made treats to choose from. Parking does require a little planning. The bakery is located in an alley-style shopping area without street parking directly in front, so you'll need to park in one of the nearby garages and walk over. Overall, this was the perfect find for our dog's birthday. I'll definitely stop by again for more treats whenever I'm in the area. read more

I am beyond disappointed. I have been following Rocky Kanaka for years and years. So when I found out he had a doggie bakery by me, I was ecstatic!! My boy, Zeus' 13th birthday was coming up. We decided to do a small photoshoot with him and wanted a doggie birthday cake. I spent alot of time on their website but decided to come in to take a look at what their options were instead. When we first came in, I already mentioned to my husband I didn't feel comfortable coming in here. I don't know what's going on but the employees just stare at you. They don't greet you, they don't smile or welcome you in. The whole interaction was extremely uncomfortable. We decided on a medium heart shaped (6 inches) original wheat free cake with carob siding. We also decided on blue text that said "Happy 13th Birthday Zeus!" We ordered a dozen confetti paw cakes for some of his furry friends. A week later, on the day of pick up, my husband notified me they had used the wrong color for text (brown instead of blue like we wanted). I appreciated the lady who helped because my husband saw the color was incorrect, so she went to the back and had it fixed asap. She also even threw in a free candle for the inconvenience. This was truly the only thing appreciated throughout this whole experience. What I did not appreciate, was they smeared the brown text off the cake so now the cake looked dirty and smudgy. They did not attempt to make the cake look nice. They did it as quickly as they could. There were brown smudges all over the cake and this was unacceptable to me as we had our photoshoot for him in just a few hours. My husband tells me the woman goes to the back and he can hear her yelling at someone saying how they've kept messing up these orders lately. Why are they allowing the person to do this job if he keeps messing up the orders?? I understand accidents happen, and she tried to alleviate the situation, but the cake was still unacceptable to me. It was not presentable. When I called in to explain to the man on the phone why the cake was unacceptable, he responded with "ok." NO resolution. NO apology. I requested for a new cake but we ran out of time before the photoshoot. I do not recommend this place. There are plenty of other mom and pop shops who will treat you better than they treated us. read more

Today was Callie's special day, first birthday. We wanted to make it special for her so we came here for some treats. They have a good selection of baked treats and many other treats. We got her these and some dried cod skin. She loved all of it! The service was very good, little Callie even got a little treat when we walked in. Parking was free using the lot on just a block away (we were in and out pretty quick). There are nice places around if you want to get yourself a little treat as well. read more
