This place is great. I often bring my dog here for baths (self-service) because I prefer giving my dog a bath and definitely don't like doing it at my home. They have everything you need to give your dog a bath which is marvelous. Other than the self-service baths, they also sell treats from The Dog Bakery which saves me a trip from having to go all the way to Old Town. Parking is super easy as well, there's a lot behind the store that I've never had an issue finding parking at. Highly recommend Pet Food Express! read more

Our dog struggles with allergies and Cindy walked us through the store showing us the best options that not even our vet had considered. I brought both of my dogs here for the self-wash on a cold winter day. We usually wash our dogs at home, but in the winter time we like to get them groomed or something similar. Our dogs are too big to wash at home (Akita Inu & Siberian Husky). Workers are very friendly and went over on how to use the self wash. We were even told that we can wash and dry both of our dogs together at the same time. I have seen a family wash all of their 3 Chihuahuas at once. Water/soap is warm so your puppies will not be shock of cold water! There is a blow dryer at the end as well! I will definitely be back again to wash my puppies. I can't say enough good things about this Pet Food Express! The employees are all super helpful and friendly. I have a cat who is finicky and has had some medical issues recently. The staff, including Tom, Memo, and Jim, have been so supportive. They gave me their undivided attention, listened to my issues, and offered suggestions that each time were relevant and valuable. I say each time because I have had to go back multiple times. Their return policy is phenomenal. If a product that you purchased there doesn't work out, you can return it, even without a receipt. I have had to take advantage of this more than once. When I do return a product, they don't judge me and still happily offer to assist me on my quest to keep my cat happy and healthy. Super nice place I recently discovered. Originally I went there to get dog beds. They have a good selection at reasonable prices. They also have a great selection of dog food, equipment, snacks and toys. Most recently I tried their self serve dog wash. They make it really easy for you. The employee gave me a tour/instructions since it was my first time. They provide collars that attach to the wash area (so your dog can't escape/fall), towels, shampoo and an apron for the human. I didn't notice the apron until after I was soaking wet, but luckily I had worn appropriate clothes for the task. There are steps the dogs can walk up so you don't have to lift them (if the dog behaves, which mine didn't - lol). The tubs are large and at waist level so you aren't bending over to wash/dry the dog. Best part is when you are done you just walk away and they handle the clean up! The only trouble I had was me figuring out what is what and managing my dogs who didn't know what all this was about. We will definitely be using this service again!!! read more

Self wash is horrible, low pressure water and dryer takes 3 tokens if you have a Wooly and furry dog. Good for small and short coats maybe but it will end costing you more or worse have skin issues and high vet bills because this is designed to charge you more money for self wash without cleaning or drying your dog properly as needed. I love this pet store! They have everything your little buddy needs. And added perk: They have a self wash dog section for large dogs! Think of this as an upgraded Petsmart/Petco. Everything they carry is top quality and they have an amazing selection of raw food. I have to come here because they are one of the only places to carry my specialty dog food. They also had a small little bakery tucked in the front of the store towards the self wash area. They have things like cakes and cookies specially made for your furry friend. The staff is friendly and they really seem like they care. Occasionally on weekends they would have some pet adoptions near the parking lot. There is plenty of free parking in the lot located behind the shop so there is no need to worry about finding parking! I've recently become a pet person, and this is where I got my kitties. I cannot hail these people enough. They all care sooooooo much about animals, and they are so knowledgeable. Terrific customer service by all and especially noted is CoCo. My kitties are the greatest thing ever and I owe it to this store and Lifeline for Pets and the man who took care of them first. Prices are higher than Target and Petco but if you want a nicer shopping environment, better design, better service, and no Meow Mix, this is your place. The name is misleading. Exceptional customer service, felt more like a personal shopper experience. I went in not knowing a thing about a thing and I probably still don't but I needed supplies for a pet I adopted and am soon picking up. The gal at the desk provided such spectacular service and answered all of my questions and if you know me, you know I ask TONS of questions, always! She was patient, extremely helpful and provided us with her undivided attention. I wanted all natural, organic products for my home and pet and she explained each and every item I chose to purchase. Almost everything I purchased can be brought back for an exchange if for some reason it doesn't work out. I can't comment on pricing since I'm so new to all of this and I'm not sure where they stand against other chain pet supply stores. Fun pet store that has a free puppy play day on Sunday mornings! Staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Store has an extremely good policy in terms of returning & exchanging pet food if your pup doesn't like it! My only gripe is the price point of some of the items here a HIGH. For example, the HALO pet food is about $5 more here than it is at Petco or even at Halo's direct website. I wish they were more competitive in terms of price point. SELECTION - HUGE selection when compared to other local pet stores. I actually like the selection here better than Centienela Feed over on Foothill Blvd. For some reason, Pet Food Express had a much larger selection despite the similar store size. PFE also has a much larger frozen/fresh foods section - they even have a doggie wash center and a doggy bakery! SERVICE - The staff is here is amazing. Everyone is very friendly and they always greet you upon walking in. The gal that works the puppy play date on sunday mornings is AWESOME! This place is AWESOME!! I just wanted to check it out with Mr. Boss and on we went. Upon arrival, we were immediately greeted by all the staff members with,　"Awwws, oh my gosh!!, So cute!" Boss was happy :] . One of the employees asked if he would like some peanut butter cake, and she gave him a huge chunk of it. Needless to say, Boss inhaled that ish down! They had some great options of food, treats, toys, leashes and etc. They didn't have those icky brands of Purina, Science Diet, Eukanuba, etc. I liked how they had their own self-wash station for their dogs OR cats, and they also had their own bakery! Huge pet store that is not Petco or Petsmart. Service is so nice and friendly! Grass turf in front so your pets can go before the go inside. There is a self dog cleaning area. Also there is a Dog Bakery kiosk inside. Exactly the same dog pastries they offer at the store location in Old Town. I bought the 8 treat box for $15. Some of the treats come with 2 so you actually get more then 8. I like this more then the cake since my dog gets a variety of treats vs one cake. If your dog can't eat 8 treats, they have a buy 3 get 1 free deal. The treats cost $2.50 each. Price savings is the same as the above deal. My pups love the Brownie, Munchkins, Donuts, and Peanut Butter Yummy Bar. I tasted the treats and they were surprisingly pretty good! Tasted a lot better then the cake I got last year. The staff here is so friendly and knowledgeable!! The moment I walked in, I was greeted with "Welcome" and they asked if I needed any help. This is a really nice store filled with organic products for the spoiled pooch or kitty. This store reminds of Urban Pet in South Pasadena because they have the same assortment of food. The cat section, like most stores, is considerably smaller, but there is a decent amount of litter choices. I love, love, love visiting the kitty house where they have adoptable furballs and I can even bring my baby to play with some kittens because we aren't sure is she wants a sibling or not. They also have an awesome self-serve pet wash where you can wash you K9 for a small fee. This place is pretty neat! read more

I found it one Monday, when I was calling around to find a dog self-wash place that was open....turns out they're all closed on Mondays, but this place was open, 7 days a week and I'm really glad to have found this place! The self wash grooming area is great! Love the wash system, makes it so easy and efficient to wash your pup...it's set up like a spa with all supplies at the ready. Great price...buy 3 washes, get the 4th free, which comes out to roughly $15 for a bath. Not mad at that at all. She helped me decide which pet calming items would be good for my cat and our upcoming 6 hour car ride. I LOVE THIS PET STORE SO MUCH. the customer service here is above and beyond. You definitely don't get this level of service at other box stores (ahem ahem won't name names lol). Like recently I went in to replace the batteries on the night light I have for my pup. The super helpful employee (I think he's a manager) was like, oh no. he knew I bought it there and gave me replacement batteries to take home (since I forgot the light). He then proceeded to help me find a great chewing thing for a teething puppy and led me away from buying a white bone which apparently could be too hard for my pups teeth. I can't go in and NOT buy anything lol. especially when the employees help because everything they suggest sounds like a pretty great idea ha. I have also used their bath services after a really really muddy day at the dog park. it was only 15 bucks for something that seemed significantly longer than 25 minutes. my pup has sensitive skin and has to use oatmeal products and they have it! this service is so much easier than th cleanup involved with doing it at home. read more

5/21/19 Around 11am. Just had the worst customer experience here and I come here all the time. Customer service here is usually amazing with all the staff but today was different. I walked in through the back entrance and usually there's always someone that greets people whenever they walk in; but there was none of that.. which isn't the main issue. The main issue was that as I got up to pay for the dog food, the girl who rang me up didn't even say a single word to me.. not even a , "Did you find everything ok?" Or "Hi how are you?" Not even a SMILE. ZERO. Didn't even tell me my total either! The only time she said something to me was to let me know my change amount I waited the whole time during the transaction for her to say hi or even be friendly but she obviously didn't want any interaction with anyone. Can I just say it was the MOST AWKWARD transaction I've ever had???? I asked her her name as I walked out, and she said, "Joel or Jill"... not sure if she gave the right name. She's light skinned.. brown hair.. about 5'2ish...Either way, If you're not a customer service type of person, you should work in an office. I absolutely love this pet store. They offer a wide variety of dog food that doesn't contain plastic as their first ingredient. They also have a lovely dog bakery and wash and dry center inside the store. The staff are always friendly and willing to help if you have any questions about the products. The store is located next to SanSai Japanese Grill and Sit and Sleep with plenty of parking in the back lot. I would highly recommend checking this place out for your fur babies. read more

Where should I start with this review so much to say!! So Pet food Express has always provided good customer service to their customers and were really there for their main customers the ANIMALS!! That is before COVID! But man has their service changed in recent months I don't think it's their mission anymore they've made so many changes that don't make sense and of course the excuse is COVID! Well how about the reason why you are in business!! ANIMALS RIGHT!! Pls don't forget! First they closed down their self wash stations and took weeks to open, now they opened with crazy ridiculous restrictions! About 1 week ago I went to bathe my dog, what I've done for the past 2 yrs. prior to COVID and always had a good experience I was never bothered or told anything. This last time I did what I always do bathe my dog, clip her nails and brush her coat b/c it needs to be brushed then used my scissors to cut hair on her paws, so as I was almost done doing what I've always done for the past 2 yrs., a Pet Food Express employee approaches me and tells me I can't clip my dogs nails or use scissors for the safety of their employees!! seriously ok tell me how is that going to affect their employees?? It has been said many times that dogs don't carry the virus also animals are not contagious and so therefore the restrictions Pet food Express put in place, simply don't make sense so are you truly here for the animals? or are you here to make dumb excuses for not providing the service you need to provide to keep your business open!!! That wasn't the worse part, when she told me to stop my answer was a simple "ok" and I stopped and started to pack up, as I was packing up what really bothered me , it didn't end there a few gathered to watch me to see if I was going to do more cutting or not and watch me like I was a criminal it was horrible! How dare they?? I've given this location my business for more than 2 yrs and now they want to treat me this way! They know me very well! I go in there don't bother anyone do what I have to do and go. but the way they made me feel this time was horrible I simply said ok and stopped there was no reason for what they did! I also let them know as I walked out that it made me feel very bad b/c I did what they asked of me and there was no reason to watch me like I was not complying. I don't think I will ever go back! Pet food express needs to realize many businesses are closing and this is not the time to treat their loyal customers bad or forget about customer service. Lexi was amazing and walked me through all of my options and let my picky puppy try a bunch of stuff before I left the store, while also reassuring me that we would figure it out if it didn't work.
