I have been going to Pet Haven for over 20+ years ever since I moved to Kapolei. Cheryl was the original owner and I was always pleased with her cuts and care she provided to my 4 dogs. It is now 2025/2026 and Cheryl's younger sister has taken over the business with Cheryl semi-retiring. The service is still amazing and very caring to the dogs, and Des is modernizing the operations with on-line bookings and automated reminders....very cool. I am on the 4th generation of my dogs, where I bring all 4 dogs for grooming/spa treatment. They all come out looking great. Des is very mindful of the dogs state of mind and does everything to try to provide a calm atmosphere for the dogs. For the caring service and great grooming the dogs receive, her rates are very reasonable. They actually seem to look forward to their spa treatment, unlike when I take them to the Vet. read more

04/26/2026 @1:30pm: I just moved home and was hoping to find my boy a new groomer. I walked in and checked in and she seemed a little overwhelmed/wanting to get the day done with (we were her last client of the day). She asked me what kind of cut I wanted and I let her know I wanted a mohawk style cut and she said she didn't understand what I wanted, I then tried to show her using my dogs body and she was still confused and started getting an attitude. She told me to pick a blade size before she could proceed and I tried telling her that I wanted to first show her what I meant and she ignored it and walked away and turned off the music and then started to walk back. My mom had been with me and told me I should leave and not allow her to cut my dog. She must've overheard my mom say this because her attitude immediately shifted and she became a little bubbly and kinder. I let her know I didn't want the mohawk anymore because it seemed too difficult to communicate with her what I wanted and I would just do a trim all over and to round his face out. She then let me know typically only poodles do that cut and asked if I was sure I wanted that cut (completely unnecessary comment). I let her know he has been getting groomed and that is his typical cut when we don't do something fun/funky. I only stayed because my dog was in need of a haircut and I was already there. I really hoped the haircut would come out great since it was the same cut on his entire body and then just face shaping and she made it a point to let me know she's been a stylist for 30 years. I had to fix up the parts that were extremely uneven and I fixed behind his ears which were not groomed in the same places. She also let me know when I picked him up how much of a good boy he was for her so I'm even more confused by the uneven cutting. I will definitely not be returning and I am so disappointed by her service because the guy (Chris) who booked my appointment was so friendly and helpful. read more

I usually take my Pom to PETCO in Ewa, but her stylist left and they're ok there but with all their price increases it's been hard on our budget. Especially with our Pom, she gets groomed every 1-2 months. I called and was able to schedule an appointment for the next day, the Wednesday before thanksgiving. I'm glad they were so accommodating scheduling her in. I requested a bath and a trim just to even out her coat. It was pretty affordable compared to PETCO and they did a really good job with the cut. My pup enjoyed herself there and they sent me a photo saying she was ready for pick up. They even gave her a bandanna and little ribbon, which was really nice. I'll definitely be bringing my pup in here more often. read more

It's been two weeks now. I've left 3 more voicemails and have not had any of my calls answered. She left me one voicemail, stating she saw my review and wanted to figure things out, she didn't say what shampoo or conditioner was used on my puppy. Honestly, if it weren't for the review I don't think she'd ever call me back. Hoping for an answer soon... really disappointed Update.. after two weeks she was able to share the high concentrate shampoo, conditioning, and cologne used on my puppy. It was the brand Bio-Groom. She was apologetic and explained why she didn't call back because she had a very busy week and she usually isn't so busy to where she can't call customers back. Have not seen Cheryl for the last 3 visits. About 4 months. Something has changed. Just picked my dog and there was an incredible difference in what had been before. Always came bathed, little neck tie, a picture was sent to let you know he was ready. I have a mini labradoodle very curly until a bath and dry then all fluffy. Wonderful. Today my dog had not been bathed, only cut. Around the butt the skin is red where the cut was too close. Was charged the same price. We've brought our golden doodle to Cheryl for over two years now. For the most part we've been happy with her work. There was only one time that we were unhappy with our dogs cut but her hair grew out so it was fine. Our dog is on the bigger side so I always ask for the 1st appt or at least an early one. The last grooming took 5 hours so I generally go home & come back when she's ready to be picked up. Cheryl will take a picture of our dog & include it when she texts me to pick up. Love bringing my almost two year old corgi here. Always welcomed with friendly smiles and faces. Wait times is usually about 2-3hours. Nicole is hands down the best trustworthy groomer. By talking to her she makes me feel comfortable that my boy is well taken care of and is in good hands. Her persona just gives me good vibes and I trust she can handle my sweet, spoiled, sometimes hard to handle Corgi. The most I love about this place is that she lets him roam around to get comfortable first before grooming him. Other places such as Petco cage doggies while waiting and I hated that. I was looking for a reputable groomer in Kapolei for my sisters precious Maltese Hōkū. I read through reviews and found Pet Haven Salon on Yelp. When I called, I spoke with Cheryl. She was very patient, thorough & informative. I had an appt for Thursday afternoon but my schedule changed so I called back to see if I could move the appt up to 8 am. Cheryl was very nice and accommodating. The location is upstairs in a small building next to Hele gas. The location is very convenient and easy to find. This was my first visit so I filled out an information sheet and I left Hōkū. I received a phone call at about 10:40am (2 hrs. later) to pick-up Hōkū. Hōkū looked so cute. She had pink bows in her hair. Her cut was shaped nicely & clean. Hōkū will definitely be back to see Aunty Cheryl again. read more

Just thought I would share my recent experience with y'all in case you are thinking about getting your pets a haircut. Started with a 8:30am appt. We CLEARLY explained what we were wanting for her haircut. Nothing short, just a clean up with around the eyes and overall trim. (About half of her current length). Even gave the example of the cotton ball cuts for puppies. We then asked when we needed to be back to pick up our 4lbs Maltese/Yorkie mix (thinking it would be about an hour, a quick coffee run for us) and we were told to be back at 11:30am. (3 hours for her cut with only one other dog there) Returning at 11:30am, we walked in the see the complete opposite of what we asked for. She had a super short full cut, face trimmed so far back that it looks like its hard for the dog to blink, nails poorly cut and uneven, tail untouched, and two bows so tight that we had to go to the vet downstairs to cut them out. (We did not ask for the bows) When we expressed how short the cut is the groomer got very defensive and short. She grabbed a piece of hair that was not close to the length we dropped her off at and said that they had measured. Didn't care about the satisfaction of the customer at all. Wanted her payment and gave us our puppy. read more

I had an ok experience the first time I took my dog to the salon. But the most recent time I took him, the groomer told me my dog is a Shih Tzu, which he's not. He is a Biewer terrier. He's not supposed to be cut like a Shih Tzu, his breed is supposed to be cut like a yorkie. The groomer was telling me because of his snout and hair he couldn't be cut like a yorkie. I showed her a picture of my dog after a cut at a different groomer, but she said she couldn't do it. I just trusted that she knew how to cut my dog's hair. My dog is home now, and I have not gotten any compliments on how cute he is like usual. I've actually gotten comment on how ugly he looks . My poor baby. He is still cute to me.
