I think the quality of care here is good, but the support staff definitely need training in client relations. I have had two incidents with them and have switched veterinarians because of this. I was told by a tech while on a visit to bring my animal back at no charge since they did not have a doctor available for an exam, so on my return visit I was charged $55 and they would not remove the charge. I also had a 22-year-old cat who was unconscious that I needed to have euthanized quickly, they couldn't get me in until the next day. They told me I needed a quality of life check, which would be a corporately owned clinic answer. I can't believe they couldn't get me in for a five-minute euthanasia at some point that morning, so I called another vet office that got me right in and am now a client of theirs. They are a corporately owned clinic, and when talking to support staff you really get the vibe of this. I have switched to a local veterinary owned clinic and couldn't be happier now. read more

Awful experience. My dog was very sick, lethargic, and had trouble walking and using the bathroom. They told us my dog most likely had arthritis because she herd popping when she pressed on his back and sides... we took him home only for him to decline even worse in symptoms. We took him to another vet where they quickly realized her had several broken ribs. I don't understand how Pet Haven mistook broken bones for arthritis?? My dog could have died if he went untreated for the broken ribs. I do not recommend this vet. read more

I have been going to this Vet, Pet Haven for many years... over the Last 2 years the 1 Girl up front is very Rude very Hateful.. this seems to be the New way of the Veterans Front End Staff. I called them to schedule an appointment to get my dog spayed. They got me in the next week and told me all the info I needed to know for the night before and day of. Then I show up at 7:30 and I was the first one there to drop off their pet. I go in to check my dog in and the receptionist said there's no appointment that day or any other day for my dogs surgery. I'm very confused as to how that happened when my appointment was confirmed on the phone. I explained to her what day and time I called so we could figure out who took the call and why they didn't schedule the appointment. Instead of giving me any helpful information or trying to help solve the problem then and there she told me to reschedule because they were fully booked for the day. This was the only day in the foreseeable future that me and my boyfriend both had off work and were able to take her. I told her that too and she apologized but still wanted me to make a new appointment. I asked if I could wait for all the other dogs to show up and if someone didn't show, could my dog get in. She seemed very annoyed by me at this point but said yes I can wait till 8, which was the cutoff time for drop off. I waited until 8 and saw only 4 dogs go in so I went in and asked if I could bring my dog in now. At this point she told me I needed to wait longer to see if anyone else would show up, right after she told me to wait till 8. I asked her why she would say 8 if she wanted me to wait till past 8. She said some people might be late and it's not fair to take their spot. I told her it's not fair that I got up early and drove my dog across town just to find out that her appointment was never scheduled and now I have to wait longer to see if someone is late. I was on time and ready to go, my dog had not eaten in over 12 hours, and she is mortified of the car but she had to sit in there and wait for over 35 minutes. After arguing with the receptionist about why I shouldnt have to wait for someone who is late she throws her arms up at me and starts to get upset. I go out to my car and 5 minutes later she says we can bring my dog in. I am very frustrated with how the situation was handled, as if I came in off the street and demanded an appointment. She tried to get me out the door the entire time instead of helping. I paid $390 for that surgery at this "affordable vet clinic". I chose to go to the vet to get her spayed instead of wichita spay and neuter because I wanted to make sure my dog was well taken care of, just for all that to happen. I paid almost $400 for inconvenience and a bad day. The surgery was done and when I got my dog her back was covered in blood. I have no idea if that is normal but for $390 they could have attempted to clean her. She has had no complications from the surgery but I will be looking for another vet after that unprofessional experience. read more

I had a cat that was sick, I started orientation at a new job in Winfield Kansas on Monday, February 13. I left work at 4 o'clock to make my appointment at 5 o'clock at pet Haven got there at 5:20 and they told me that they could not see me and that I would have to reschedule because all of their diagnostic equipment was shut down. What a bunch of bullshit. What a joke of a clinic. My cat is already an established patient at this vet clinic. My pet was sick overnight and having trouble breathing. Called and they said I had to get my pet her yearly checkup and examination before I could bring her in. The wait was about a week. I explained the situation and the receptionist said "just make her comfortable". I said my pet might not make it a week. Receptionist said "you can always take her somewhere else." Very rude and unprofessional. My son brought his dog here once and we were going to continue services but the lady who answered the phone was unpleasant, impatient, and sounded like she hated her job. She was combative from the start and was only interested in whether or not his dog was current on his shots. I gave one star a month ago after our incident and she replied "sorry can't find your chart". As if that justifies her actions. The reason she can't find our dog's chart is because its under my son's name. If you can't communicate properly and professionally, I wouldn't trust you with our pet. I recommend Creatures and Creations East Wichita and Swaney Veterinary Clinic in Kingman. A little drive but well worth it. read more

Been going for decades, staff used to make us feel at home. Now it's inexperienced staff and never the same doctor. Rude staff, hidden fees, and since the remodel they are trying to get every penny they can. Got charged for a service I never got and put my dog out and called me saying they couldn't proceed with a teeth cleaning until I paid for a shot which she aleafy had. So they held my dog for ransom until the anesthesia was paid for, I mean why would you put out a dog before having all the details which was already filled out on their required info paper. This place sucks. Front desk staff are very rude, they have been rude to both me and my husband. Said that the drop off time was 7:30 but when we got there they just looked through the window and ignored us. They double changed me for a neuter which they refunded but it took a week to get fixed and I had to go in to deal with their mistakes. (accidents happen but just another annoying thing to add to the list). Called to see if I could get my dog in because he was throwing up blood and they said they didn't have any time for at least a week and they were rude about it. This is very frustrating as my pet is in very bad condition and I already had to wait 2 business days for this appointment. Nowhere in the appointment process does it warn you of this. I got a recommendation for a friend to go here and at first it was wonderful. Then I noticed my dog had tap worms and asked if the stuff they had give to him a week prior that it would take care of it and to come to find out by a different vet they he was never treated for them! They also gave us flea and tick medicine that he has already grown out of and we paid well over 100 bucks for the box! I agree with the other recent reviews that this clinic has gone steeply down hill over the past few years. I have been a customer for many years with numerous pets. The reception staff are rude, incompetent and uncaring. It's a shame that they allow these people to represent their care, because I do feel that the doctors are competent and caring. Lila, my 2 year old rescue dog, is my entire life. I am very particular about who I trust to take care of her. I'm new to the Wichita area, and Lila has recently been having some serious diarrhea for quite awhile. We tried a few things, but ultimately we ended up suspecting tapeworms. She is also very prone to ear infections and I thought maybe she had one, so I decided it was time for a trip to the vet. Lila is very timid, sometimes to the point where she is aggressive if she feels uncomfortable. Previously, when taking her to any other clinic, they want her in and out and never have they taken the time to try to make her more comfortable. The veterinary assistant (I wish I knew her name) immediately greeted Lila with treats and lots of love. She knew exactly how to handle her temperament. The vet herself agreed that it may be tapeworms, and they took her in the back to run some tests and give her treatment for that and her ear infection. Normally she will not let anyone near her ears except me. They were able to keep her calm enough to get her ears cleaned and treated. I heard them telling her "good girl" through the wall and I had complete confidence that she was in good hands. This is why I have given this review 5 stars. There is nothing more important to me than my dog's wellbeing. read more

Pet Haven sent us a reminder for my cat to get vaccines. We called to make an appointment for this and they scheduled us for an exam and didn't give her vaccines. When I called about it, they said the only thing they could do is schedule vaccines and the $56 we paid went towards the 5 minute "more thorough" exam that she apparently received. They normally give her a physical along with the vaccines, so basically we are paying double the amount to get done what they initially were supposed to do. I will not be back unless they fix this situation. They also gave us the wrong paperwork for our dog's rabies vaccines and we have to make a second trip to rectify that situation. read more

We recently moved to Wichita. Our first week in town, our older dog was limping and we took her in for shots and to have her check. Since our kids weren't enrolled in school yet, I also had all my children with me. The vet, Dr. Menze was super nice with all the chaos and explained all our options and the associated costs with each option. Unfortunately, when x-raying our dog's leg the vet discovered she had lung cancer. Dr. Menze was great with explaining everything to us including spending over 20 minutes answering every question my 8 year old asked. Her bedside manner was awesome. She recommended not doing the vaccinations and taking Molly home and loving her until it was time. Dr. Menze also did a great job explaining how we would know when our beloved dog was ready to die. Molly died at home this past week. The staff was amazing when i called them freaking out and not knowing what to do. They explained my options and very tactfully explained the associated costs. I cannot say enough good things about this clinic, the staff and Dr. Menze. I was pleasantly surprised when we received a sympathy from Dr. Menze today along with a beautiful hand written note. read more

Unfortunately, after looking at the reviews on Yelp and not seeing a positive one for over 2 years, I am not the only one that's had an experience like I had today. I too have been going to Pet Haven for many years and like others, this is not a review of the veterinarians' abilities, but the unfortunate lack of customer service. Yes, there are policies in place for COVID that I understand, one of them being only letting one person into the building with each pet, but when you have a 2-yr old or younger, and you'd like to talk to the vet, I feel it gets a bit ridiculous. When I expressed that to the girl who came to get my dog, those exact words in a frustrated tone but never having raised my voice, she told me she didn't appreciate my comment and took my dog. I also asked about feeling a lump to see if we needed to come back to get it further checked out, however she shut me down before I could even explain stating they don't do exams on Saturday, "We're only here for 3 hours!" Then, when she brought my dog back she said I could go pay and leave my two year old in the car or she could take my card in. I told her I'd like to see what I'm paying for prior to paying so she started listing things off, I said no, I'd like it printed out to which she told me they only do that after I pay. She proceeded to tell me that the doctor would have looked at the lump if I wasn't so rude to her in the beginning and that I could take my dog elsewhere. When I said I might look into that, she said that she'll go ahead and tell the front desk to make that happen because I was being rude. I was finally able to pay over the phone and get my dog. At no point was there any compassion, or apologies for the frustration being caused, and then how quick she was to get rid of a customer in their system, whom by the way was probably going to be paying to have another lump taken off (they had already removed one) if they would have taken an extra 2 minutes (maybe) to take a look. I'm so disappointed in the service and now in the back of my mind question how they've treated my pets, if this is how they treat the "parents". Guess I'll be looking for a new vet since I've been kicked out of Per Haven for expressing my feelings. ‍ read more

Up until last Thursday I would have without a doubt recommended them. My family has used them for over 20yrs. But that all changed when I took my 13lb chihuahua in for a simple nail trim around 10am Thursday. When I asked how he had done I was told that he did "get a little nervous " but he had done well, once we got home I noticed he was very timid walking with his tail tucked and seemed to be walking stiff, I thought maybe a nail was cut a little short and was sore, I then went to work, by the time I came home at 2pm for lunch my 3yr old perfectly healthy chihuahua could not only barely walk but could not go up or down our 3 back porch steps, I called pet haven and was told to bring him in. At 230 pm Thursday we were seen by the original nail tech (not a vet) she showed me no nails were clipped short and he had not bled at all earlier when he came back to the car, it was at that time I was told that a new vet tech had been holding him, and he possibly pulled something, or had gotten squeezed too hard when he was wiggling, and that somehow she may not have held him correctly.... I then was told he wouldn't get anything for the pain and to just continue watching him. I then took him home and had to go back to work... by the time I got home at 7pm my dog had to be picked up and sat down on the ground just to go pee, he would not really drink or eat anything (including blueberries which is one of his favorites) and for the first time in his life he whimpered, cried and yelped when picked up or when he would attempt to walk... all night he was extremely lethargic and would not could not stand on his own without extreme pain... Friday morning at 10am we go back to pet haven, we are seen by a vet 40 minutes after our scheduled appointment, she looks him over and then tell me that he has a luxating patella... which I did see her move it around and she said it popped back in place... at which time my dog did not even blink,whimper, or attempt to move, and that it was a pre existing condition and that if i want xrays or blood work that I will be charged... mind you I was not charged for the two exams nor was I charged for pain meds for him... but all the sudden xrays and its pre-existing... I then asked to speak directly with Dr. MENZE whom is the acting managing veterinarian whom I have personally taken multiple pets to over the years, and was told that she was too busy to talk, but somehow when I was at the front desk she was merely standing in the doorway of their backroom looking at me like I was crazy, doing absolutely nothing to defuse the situation.... most likely assuming that I didn't know who she was with her mask on. Friday, I get on Facebook and leave a review only to be mocked by Emily Farris who currently works there, and who also felt the need to post a fake positive review, and the also Sky Quinn another worker at pet haven laughed and loved all of Emily's comments and had her boyfriend also post a fake positive review.... I am beyond disgusted with how this situation has played out. And the level of unaccountability, and unprofessionalism is just insane. Me and at least 6 other members of my family will NEVER go back here. Obviously they felt that something had happened or why would they not have charged for those two examinations or the pain meds if they are so certain this was a pre existing condition, and yes I am aware that it is common in small dogs, but, it's NOT common for it to cause extreme pain and discomfort especially to 3yr old dogs, and my dog has never done any type of weird back leg stretches or anything, he is constantly running and playing and has never shown any issues before. I don't know what has happened to Pet Haven but it is definitely not the same. To say I am angry and disappointed is the understatement of the year. Recently moved over to the Riverside area, they were able to get my dog in quickly for his yearly shots. Everyone at the staff was extemly friendly to myself and my dog. Also used their next door grooming service, and they did a wonderful job as well! Will definitely continue to use the Vet Clinic and the groomers. read more

We have been going to Pet Haven since they opened. I can not imagine the amount of money we have spent there much less the number of people we have referred to them. First of all I call and make an appointment for my coughing dog and was informed that because we had missed a couple of appointments in the past, I had to prepay for the office visit. To say that I got angry is an understatement. I bit the bullet and paid. Took my pup in, sit in the parking lot for 15 minutes trying to call them since their lobby is closed and that's what you have to do, and kept getting a busy signal. I go inside to let them know we are there because I didn't want them to say we didn't show up, and the girl at the desk yelled at me to get out and they would come and get us when they were ready for my dog. I smarted off and went back to my car. When the nice young man came and got us, poo guy got an earful. As I was laying into him and we were going back inside, one of the desk clerks told me to lower my voice. I eventually calmed down and apologized to him and one of the clerks ( the other one was on the phone), got e with the visit wrapped up and went on my way. Called today because it has been 5 days and my pup is still coughing, just to find out that because I got mad, we're no longer clients there. I asked for the office manager to call me, of course that didn't happen. Way to go Pet Haven, you have lost 4 patients now and any future ones. read more

I had been a regular customer for years and one day I got home from work and my dog was extremely sick so I just grabbed her and rushed her to the clinic and they refused to see her because I did not have an appointment. I begged them to please work me in and stood there crying like a baby and they told me it was too bad, there was no way a vet would see my dog. I asked for my records and they promptly gave them to me and I have never gone back. I took my dog to another vet down the street and they worked my dog in, no questions asked - and I had never been there before. Thank goodness they were able to see my dog who was having a pancreatitis attack. They saved her life! read more

I took my 6 yr lab in she was drinking a lot of water and not eating they gave her antibiotics and told my wife to bring her back in two days if things dont improve. well the next day she went down hill fast. They would not schedule a appointment that day. We took her to the emergency dog clinic her spleen was bleeding she was drowning in her own blood. She died thanks Pet Haven I will never bring another pet to you ever again. Oh and they sent me a card after her death you can imagine how that made me feel. If they would have done a sonigram or xray we would have known and could have possibly saved her. read more

I have been a client with Pet Haven since the early 90s. I used to recommend them to everyone. Now, first let me start with this review is not a reflection on the skills of the veterinarians. I find them to be highly qualified. The past few years I have become increasingly unhappy with the customer service they provide. Today, was the last straw. I brought my cat to the clinic for his shots. I asked them to look at his chin because I noticed he had a claw mark a couple of days ago. Before I could even explain what I was asking for I was told, "No, that he would have to be scheduled for an exam". I said, "Okay but its not to that point". He doesn't need an exam for his chin." The girl allowed that the vet would look at it but if it needed an exam I would need to schedule one. A girl came to the card. I noted I wanted the vet to look at his chin. No, I would have to come back for an exam. We are talking about a non-infected claw hole here. No swelling, no signs of infection or anything. My cat is there. I'm actually wanting to know if I need to watch for something to schedule an exam. I said, "My cat is here for his annual exam." She says, "Yes, but that does not include bumps and started on. Please understand this has been a build up of unhappiness with the service. I did a bad impression of the I did a bad impression of the show, "Your fired." I said, "You're fired." I immediately felt bad because this is not my normal attitude. She told me I was free to leave. I advised her that, "No my cat was here for his shot appointment. We would do that and if he chin needed an exam, it would be scheduled with someone else." I currently have three pets under the care of Pet Haven. At one time, I had five. I have been going there for over 20 years. They have handled all of my animals surgeries, shots and illnesses. I can't even imagine how much money I have spent there. Evidently, they no longer need my business. The exam noted an abrasion on the chin and to watch it. That's all I was originally asking for. If I needed to bring him in, I would have. Oddly, it also, recommended he be neutered. This cat was neutered as soon as he was old enough. Just not by them. I adopted him from the Humane Society. So in their defense that may not have been in their records. They have become increasingly non customer oriented. I prefer a vet tell me my marching orders than staff answering the phone and taking the animal in to the room. They have become increasingly devoted to getting paid for every time they move. I took my dog in for his Heartworm shot and simply asked the vet to check the fatty tumor under his arm to see if we needed to remove it. I told the girl at the desk I was going to ask for that. I was charged $85.00 for an exam separate from the shot charge. This was not the same girl so evidently, this is what they are being directed to do. I was there, the dog was there. Feel the dogs tumor and let me know if I need to schedule something that is going to put money in your pocket and take it out of mine. It's not the vets, its the new policies. I have always kept my dogs on Heartworm year round. My elderly dog gets his Heartworm shot from Pet Haven every six months. Even knowing the animal has continuous Heartworm protection, I am required to have a mandatory Heartworm test every year. Regardless of whether they can verify the animal has been immunized or not. When this started, I thought, "Well, not everyone takes as good of care of their animals as you do. There must be a reason for this." Unfortunately, I believe it is financially motivated rather than concern for the animals. Customer services and relations have went way downhill. it just makes me wonder if someone bought them out. I have been taking my dogs here for years, and we have not been disappointed in the level of care that has been taken for our two dogs. They are reasonably priced, and you can tell they care about animals there. Customer service has always been great, I can call one day in advance and get an appointment for the next day. Whenever my dog has her teeth cleaned, they will always call me when she wakes up so I know there were no complications. I also like that they price-match heartworm medication, so you can still get the guarantee of the product that Pet Haven offers, for the more reasonable prices you can find online. read more

I was initially pleased with Pet Haven Vet clinic because I read a number of glowing reviews. They were able to schedule my puppys surgery quickly. These were the two deciding factors for using them. After surgery I was told if we had any problems to bring him back in and they would take care of him. A little after one week my dog developed an infection. I immediately took him by the vets office after I returned home from work and realized what was going on. I was turned away and told to call for an appointment the next day. I explained that the surgical sight was looking infected and I work out of town. I called my other dogs vet and they saw him on the other side of Wichita as soon as I could drive there. 160 dollars later I had a collar, pain pills and antibiotics. So I'm about 320.00 into what should have been a simple nutering. Draw your own conclusions. Avoid them. They are too busy to care for your pet after suegery. read more

I will no longer buy supplies at Pet Haven. When I stopped in today, the owner had a dog on the grooming table. She was yanking it around by the neck and yelling at the dog to "Stop it!" and "Stand up!" as if she thought the dog could understand English if she just yelled loud enough. I love this veterinarian group. Personally I'm only interacted with to vet there but they're both wonderful and the staff is great. The girls at the front desk are excellent and they've been so helpful when I've had emergency situations with my pets. It's unfortunate though with all the goodness of the veterinarian clinic that they're attached to the most god-awful grooming service you would ever want to encounter. I hope it's some point Pet Haven Veterinary in clinic sever their ties with that god-awful grooming service next to them. Because for all the goodness and compassion to animals.. I can't say that you will experience that if you have to go across the way to pick up a product for your pet Med effect save your money go someplace where you can find it cheaper and won't have to witness poor animals being groomed so roughly that you feel compelled to call Animal Control and report them. read more
