If I could give them -1 star, I would. I purchased two dog coats within 30 minutes of each other. The price tag was the same on both, $119. However, I was charged $129 for the second coat. Being in a hurry at the time, I didn't notice. I called the store before Christmas and was told to bring the receipts and coats back to the store. Post-Christmas, I took the receipts to the store, not the coats, as the dogs had already worn them. I received the excuse for the price difference that they were changing the prices, and the main office was to blame, and so on. Then, I was told the price difference was because they were different colors. (See photos below from the Hurtta site) Really? I was then told I could return the coat for a different color, in other words, a cheaper color. Again, Really? The store was willing to take a loss on the price of the coat instead of providing a store credit for $10 + tax and having a happy, satisfied customer. This Hurtta coat is redesigned for this season. On the Hurtta website, the Expedition Parka, in the size and colors I purchased, is $90. I didn't mind paying more because we were having a freeze coming and I would have the coats without a week-long wait for delivery. The excuses continued as the store manager tried to convince me that Hurtta is raising their prices. Another fable - see the screenshots from the Hurtta website below. If anyone knows anything about merchandising, the wholesale price the store pays for each coat is nowhere near the price the consumer pays. Manufacturers would never charge more to the retailer than the consumer. If the coat retails at Hurtta for $90, I can only imagine what the store pays wholesale for them. How much do they want to gouge their customers when with a bit of research, customers can go elsewhere to make their purchases? This store needs to honor its ticketed prices! Don't make it up prices as you feel like it. And don't gossip about your customers after they've left the store. The situation was disrespectful to me as a longtime customer who has spent thousands of dollars supporting this store over the years, especially for continuing to support them during the recent pandemic when shopping online would have been safer and easier. To Pet Market, the customer is always wrong! Customers don't matter to them because there's always another customer coming along. Pet Market, customers are not a dime a dozen. Customers talk, and word gets around about retailers with poor business practices. Maybe that's why they only have a 3-star rating on Yelp. The result of this disrespectful experience? I will not shop at any Pet Market location again. I highly advise consumers to be careful if shopping at Pet Market. Buyer Beware! read more

PetMarket is my favorite place to shop on UWS. If I could, I'd buy something there everyday for my dog Allie. There are 2(two) PetMarkets W72 St., one between Col. & Broadway, & 1 between Broadway & WEndAve. I mostly go between Col. & Broadway. TIARA works that one. She is the best. She recommends which chew toy & Allie still chewing it 6 wks. later. She knows where everything is & whats best; and If it wasn't for Jamie 3.5 months ago, I'd still be figuring out how to tighten up Allie's harness. The raincoat/hat works well. They have millions of assortments of everything any dot wantsneeds. If we walk by, Allie will stubbornly sit in front of store. Also there are Chandler, Zay,Miles,NIckSonOwner,Tessa,&Ben. The other store is absolutely great also, although I'm allergic to the cat. Chandler is there, & Caroline, Irina, &Kris. Both stores put out little comp. dry dog food paks. Terrible experience. I was glad to be supporting a small business, especially during COVID and the economic climate, but it turns out they ripped me off. I bought a product (overpriced to begin with) and needed to return the next day. I was only told that I could not be refunded directly when I tried to return my item. I could only receive store credit. Complete ploy to get people to continue shopping at their overpriced, small selection pet store. read more

I go here for all of my cat's needs when Amazon isn't fast enough, and while it's a bit more pricey than PetSmart or a big corporation, I still would choose here every time. Most items don't have prices on them or on the shelf. Staff was aggressive to sell and oblivious regarding product. Young man assisting us went so far as to making up numbers when asked about the price. Then you go to pay and the actual price is insane - much more than the employee quoted and $80 more than Chewy for the exact same bag of food. Cute little mom and pop pet store that seems to have all of your pet needs in a small space. The items are a little expensive, so I probably wouldn't shop here for all of my needs, but they have a great selection of all natural dog treats. No one warned me about the pet shop cat and he snuck up on me and scared the daylights out of me. However, customer service was warm and I appreciated it. read more

They have moderate selection of the top boutique brands for both cat and dog. However, they are missing a few "flavors" of each brand. Obviously there is limited space but maybe one could ask for a special delivery. For my situation, I was in a pinch because my normal delivery method had been delayed. Regardless, I was thankful that Pet Market was able to provide me with the same brand and similar flavor at a reasonable price. The staff is pretty passive here but willing to help when prompted. The staff are warm and professional. Location wise it is very convenient and well-placed since the store is close to the subway and busses for easier commute (especially when purchasing heavier items such as litter or food). Furthermore, this store (though relatively small) has a wide range of goods--they also have an adorable housecat named Parker who is just incredibly cuteand friendly. I like this Pet Market more than any of the others b/c the people that work there are more friendly. I order Pitzie and Cheppie's Acana dog food over the phone and they deliver Very convenient. The prices are a little higher than online, but not by much. It's nice to support a privately owned local company. They have a lot of better dog foods that chain stores like Petco and PetSmart don't have. Acana and Orijen made by Champion Foods are the best. I use only Acana for my two Cavaliers. read more

This place should go out of business. For starters, the aisles are dangerously cluttered to walk through, the people are cliché NYC unfriendly types and they have poor business practices. I walked in looking for a specific type of canned dog food. Although I was put off by the cluttered mess of a store, they sold what I needed for my dog - a dog food that is very diet specific and necessary to sustain my dogs life. They were out of stock but told me that if I ordered the food and pre-paid for it, they would call me when it came in. Well, I paid around $100 for a case of this food and they hand-wrote my information in this tattered little notebook. Naively, I trusted this method. Two weeks went by and no word. Meanwhile, I'm home every day cooking up meals for my dog and waiting for this dog food to come in. I called and they were clueless as to my order but assured me that they would call me back with an answer. No word. Another two weeks and I call again. They told me that they thought I picked it up. I assured them that I did not and so they told me once again, that they would call me back. Meanwhile, my dog got sick and died within a week. Now, I am not saying that these people killed my dog. I am just saying that they didn't help his cause. I never went in to get my $100 back. They never called me back. They can rot for all I care - but don't trust these people. Guys. GUYS. YO. You MUST be joking! This place up charges by like 30%. My puppy's food which is $30 on Amazon was $45 here. I was so appalled I just walked out. I would expect it to be maybe a few dollars more, but FIFTEEN? No. And the Nature's Miracle is also absurdly overpriced. I've never seen anything like it. I know this is NY but someone should report these people. The selection at this store is fine, but now I know how much more they're overcharging people-it's ridiculous-I honestly also feel like this is just taking advantage of old people who live in the area.
