We've been coming here for almost a year and our dog absolutely loves it. The people here are extremely nice and really love animals. They all know our dog by name and he's so happy to see them. So for the breakdown: Daycare Pros: well priced at $27 (with pass plan), large space, other dogs to play with our very social dog, clean, low turnover of employees, convenient drop off and pickup times Cons: takes a bit of time for your dog to get its groove, the same way childcare would be. They test the dog's temperament and the first two days at daycare he wasn't out as much. When it's very busy the dogs end up in timeout more often, but our dog still comes home very tired and well exercised and happy Boarding: Pros: flexible, accommodating, and friendly service. Cons: dogs are only out 1 hour of playtime (which let's be honest is more than the average American does anyway). However for an additional cost you can do daycare with boarding. Buddy & Sipsy have stayed in Tiny Town multiple times. They've been boarded in their own room. They spend a few hours there multiple times a year. I can always watch them on the cameras which assures me they are loved, fed, watered and happy. Reservations work and every dog there looks cared for! read more

This was my first experience with Pet Paradise, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend this location. My primary concern was the overall lack of communication, which left me feeling uneasy and without peace of mind while I was out of the country and my dog, Kolbie, was in their care. To be fair, I'll share both the pros and cons of my experience: Pros: 1. Easy Scheduling & Tour Access: My usual sitter was unavailable, and a trusted friend recommended this location. I appreciated that they were able to accommodate a same-day tour. The staff member who gave the tour was helpful and answered all my questions. 2. Facilities & Separation by Size: The play and swimming areas appeared clean and well-maintained. I also appreciated that small dogs are not mixed with larger dogs. 3. Flexible Drop-off & Pick-up: I was able to drop Kolbie off on the Fourth of July, which shows a great level of flexibility in scheduling. Cons: 1. Reservation Change Without Notice: Two days before Kolbie's reservation, I received a text saying he would be placed in individual play for the entire 7-day stay -- not what I had requested. The entire reason I chose this facility was for social play. I was told this was because Kolbie hadn't been tested, but I was never informed during my tour (June 15th) that a temperament test was required. No one contacted me between June 15th and July 2nd to schedule it. This was a major communication failure. 2. Medical Records Miscommunication: I had emailed Kolbie's medical records on June 15th, confirming he was up to date on shots and neutered. A manager later told me they hadn't received them, which led to another change in his reservation. However, in checking the email again, she saw that they did receive the medical records. Although she agreed to place him back into "Tiny Town" for social play, when I arrived to drop him off, he was still assigned to individual play with no explanation or update. 3. Untrained Check-in Staff: The employee who checked me in didn't seem familiar with the facility's policies and appeared uncomfortable handling a nervous dog. 4. Unreturned Calls & Broken Promises: On July 5th, I called three times to check on Kolbie. I was told he'd be tested that day, but I never received the promised call back. When I followed up at 5:45 PM, there was still no answer. This lack of follow-through was extremely frustrating. 5. Lack of Transparency About Dog's Condition: On July 6th, I called again at 10:45 AM with no answer. My boyfriend called shortly after and got through. He was told Kolbie had been placed in isolation because he wasn't doing well -- information we were never given. We were also told conflicting updates. One staff member said she "thought" Kolbie was fine and "believed" he was eating, but a manager called and told me he hadn't eaten at all the previous day and barely ate that morning. That's unacceptable. We only received the call from the manager because we told them that we were coming to get my dog immediately and absolutely needed leadership to give us a call. 6. Sanitation Concerns in Play Areas: In reviewing the Tiny Town video footage, I noticed the mop and mop bucket used for cleaning were left in the room with the dogs the entire time. This presents a serious safety and hygiene risk, as dogs could easily drink the dirty water. Final Thoughts: Due to the inconsistent information, unauthorized changes to Kolbie's reservation, and repeated lapses in communication, I had no peace of mind during my trip. I ultimately ended his reservation after just two days and had my brother pick him up. Kolbie attends two other dog daycares regularly without issue -- this was the first time he was described as "grumpy," which only further concerned me about how he was treated. I cannot recommend this location to others. I love people, and I love dogs. PSA: To protect others, PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG HERE. My dog was bitten at this facility. She's incredibly socialized, and has regularly gone to dog parks and daycare minimum 3x a week with zero issues. Tried Pet Paradise as the facility seemed well established. I loved the idea of a bone-shaped pool for play, turf to run, and a doggie cam if I missed her at work to see what she's up to. Pet Paradise after selling in 2016 has prioritized property design aesthetic over quality staff training, animal behavioral training, and attentiveness. Not only was she injured, no one told me or made me aware. I got home and noticed blood in her fur. The incompetence is absolutely unacceptable from Regional Customer Service Manager Leanne, who has taken over two weeks to resolve this. Leanne said the wound is a laceration (scratch from the pool) when it's indeed a puncture wound confirmed by the vet. Not from a pool. The other staff and managers have been wonderful... sadly this is a much larger problem with several other Pet Paradise locations citing negligence and dog bites without notification of injury. If I could rate this "establishment" at a zero I would. I rarely (if ever) post reviews regardless of how bad the experience is, but this time I am making an exception. I entrusted Pet Paradise of Richmond, VA (near the airport) to care for my pet while I was away on vacation. This is the first time my pet had to stay at a kennel and unfortunately it will be her last. I entrusted them to care for my pet and I truly regret that decision. In a week's time, while I was away, I got a call from them stating that my dog had "passed away". Not one person could explain to me why my pet died. She was a healthy 4 y/o teddy bear breed (bichon frise/shih tzu mix) and now because of this establishment's negligence, she is no longer here with her family who loved her. i made the absolute worst decision sending my dog here while away on vacation. During the course of my trip they did not follow feeding instructions and according to the she ran out of the food I sent days before she was supposed to. They asked if I wanted them to provide her with food for a charge which was fine. When they brought her out at pickup she was severely underweight to the point where I could see her ribcage and spine through her fur and skin. She could barely walk on her own due to being so underweight. Her fur looked like it hadn't been brushed since I dropped her off and she was covered in her own pee. This is definitely not the experience that I expected to have sending my dog here. In fact it is the complete opposite. If you are looking for quality pet care services look elsewhere!!!! read more

I gave an opportunity for Pet Paradise to reach out after filling out a survey after our pets' stay but we had zero response from that. We picked up our dog after 4 nights and he reeked of his own urine. He's a white dog so the urine stains were completely noticeable. He was covered on his back end and legs. He's completely house broken and has never had an accident in the house. This leads me to believe he was rarely taken out. You would think there would have been communication stating he had urine on him and asking if they wanted to bathe him. We would have paid for it. The smell was so bad we had to ride home with the windows open. Once home we gave him a bath and the stains wouldn't come out. I know they were there for a few days. I had communication twice during our stay, both acting as if everything was fine and he was doing great. We are new to the area and I expected more out a place claiming to be more for your pet. read more

BEWARE!!! INCOMEPETENT AND CRUEL!!! We took our puppy in for a grooming. When we came back (seven hours later!) we found a him completely traumatized...his body was completely shaved except for his head! We filled out their form as requested with grooming instructions. The groomer called us to confirm what was being done and ask permission to shave just his legs. We explicitly stated that it was OK to do so, but only his legs and got confirmation from her that the remainder would be a normal cut with the skirt intact. At 3:30PM (what were they doing with him since 8:30???), we received a second call from a trainee saying they were "backed up" and that she would be conducting his grooming. We repeated, and she confirmed, that they were only to shave his legs and the rest would be a regular schnauzer cut. At no time was it ever indicated that he was suffering from matting that required any part of him to be shaved, let alone his entire body. It is winter and our puppy now has a skin-close shave which is causing him great physical distress. With the area experiencing very cold temperatures of late, he now must wear a coat all times. It will take 3 months minimum for his fur grow out for a proper cut. It is inexcusable that he should have to endure an entire winter with his body completely unprotected from the elements. Also, we made our appointment several weeks ago. Surely, they have a record of the date the appointment was made and how many pets need grooming that day. How irresponsible to overbook so much that a trainee with zero experience in grooming clearly got in a hurry and instead of giving him a proper cut, decided to save time and shave him instead! To add insult to injury, they tried to hide it by putting a Pet Paradise t-shirt on him in the hopes that we wouldn't notice. OBVIOUSLY THEY KNEW THE EXTENT OF WHAT THEY HAD DONE!! The regional manager, Alonso, said if they do that, he can give you back your money but that's it. Would you be satisfied with just getting your money back if you went in for a haircut and your barber gave you a flat top instead...and then try to pawn you off with a free store ballcap?? Make sure you know what your getting before you leave your dog here. We left our 9 month old puppy in the Kyle location for 6 nights. When I could not see her on any of their cameras, I called, only to find out that boarded dogs are only let out twice daily for 30 minutes. So for 23 hours, boarded dogs stay in a cage. I had to pay an extra $20 a day so she could get out of that cage and play. I still did not see her any more on their cameras. When I asked them about it the day I picked her up, the girl said they have a lot of dogs and have to rotate them in and out to play. Not a Pet Paradise in my opinion. read more

We left our two babies here while on vacation and came back to filthy dogs. They both smelled like they had been laying in their own urine the entire week. My French bulldog had lost 3 pounds and by peke-a-poo came home with FLEAS on her. She is 10 years old and had never a flea prior to Pet Paradise. I checked the cameras daily and NEVER saw my pets playing. I wonder if they have the cameras on a pre-recorded loop because it was always the same dogs on camera. Please beware and read all reviews because there are several reviews saying dogs are left in crates and are not being cared for. I have been trying to get them back on track since picking them up on August 16th. I've never disliked a place more than Pet Paradise at this point. I took my 12 year old Shih-Tzu to be groomed and got a call that she had fallen off the grooming table, and that we should watch her. We ended up taking her to our Vet. She had two broken bones in her jaw. One on each side. It has been over a month since this happened. So far I have had to pay all the Vet bills even though they said they would take care of this. I have to prepare special soft food for her. I had to buy a small blender for this. She couldn't wear her harness because it went over her head so I had to buy another harness. She needs grooming still but I can't get her groomed with a broken jaw bones. I have had my dog since she was 8 weeks old. Now she is handicapped for the rest of her life. I am 72 years old and I am also handicapped. They will only pay for her vet bill even though they were negligent. I would never recommend Pet Paradise Richmond Airport to anyone that loves their pet. They said that they will only pay her vet bill, and they are sorry that this happened. By the way our Vet did not recommend that we put her down. She is still the best dog in the world. UPDATE: I just got off the phone with my Vet. They have sent over the records for Princess, my dog, twice along with the bills I have payed. They gave me who they sent that to and the dates. After A stay at Pet Paradise on Williamsburg Rd, I noticed my dog was favoring one side and would not jump up on the sofa or into the car. They were not aware of an incident or if they were aware they did not tell me. Either way is unacceptable. A good friend also took her dog there, and noticed when she got home that her dog had been bitten and she had to take it to the vet and had to be put under to get stitches due to a puncture wound while inder the care of pet paradise. So, for me and my experience with PetParadise-Airport (Grooming) was not good, but it was not as bad as what I've read about this place. I know I should've checked yelp before taking my baby Rufus to a new groomer. I went on the google to find someone new and came across PetParadise. Initially when I went, I was really impressed with the newness of it all. Everything went okay, he only there for a groom. When I went to pick him up he seemed fine and happy until after I got him in the car I noticed under is right jaw there was a razor burn and then upon further inspection a knick on his right knee I decided to go on with my day and inquire about it when I got home. I emailed them about the discovery and inquired why no one mentioned it? I was told that they'll have the groomer Angela B give me a call back, she did, we spoke (this morning) Absolutely no accountability! Our conversation when downhill. She tried to blame me for her razor burning and knicking my dog because he was really dirty. She pretended like she was unaware of his injury and that Rufus was fine.
