Fur Fabulous was suggested to me by a good friend from our beloved rescue, Gray Face Senior Dog…read morerescue. We were once DIYers when it came to dog bathing but after seeing photos of our friend's hound, we knew we wanted to give this dog spa a shot. We never felt comfortable using a big box groomer due to some of the horror stories we heard and like to develop relationships with people who care for our animals. The first time we used Fur Fabulous was when we took our 15 year old beagle/spaniel mixes Fluffy and Casper for baths and nail clipping. We made our appointment via Facebook messenger and were shocked at how prompt and professional they were in both response and flexibility of getting our dogs in soon. The boys have very different coats so their washes were tailored to their needs. Fluff loves to roll in everything and they managed to get the stank off him. They were so happy afterwards and topped off with matching plaid scarves. We then got this gorgeous Golden retriever rescue named Honey. Nikki worked to get us in on a weekend early on a Saturday. The dog spa is tucked away right off Elm Road conveniently located in Mechanicsville. I was pleased at how clean and serene it was when I dropped Honey off. It was a happy happenstance that Nikki also had her golden retriever Dexter there so I was able to talk shop about specific Golden needs. Nikki took her time with Honey as she hadn't been groomed in about a year. The hair on her haunches was so overgrown that when she urinated it would get wet and the hair between her paws tracked in everything. Our girl looked like a whole new dog when she was done! Nikki was great about communication - she took down my number and gave me a 15 minute heads up to when Honey would be done. Honey moved so much better after her day of pampering. We found Nikki's scheduling and pricing to be spot on - you get a sense from just talking to her how much she really loves and cares for dogs. She was worth the 20 minute drive and our old dogs can't wait for their next pampering session from her.

The owner, Nikki, and her daughter were super friendly and welcoming to my 7 month old Mini Goldendoodle, Simba. Nikki took the time to explain the services and confirm the amount of hair to cut. I felt totally comfortable dropping him off. The space was clean, neat and beautifully decorated. He looked and smelled great! We will be back in 6 weeks !

I used to love this vet until they butchered my dog for no reason. The reason I was given was that…read morethe vet "couldn't remember which leg the bump was on, so she removed bumps from his front two legs", that weren't there and weren't bothering him. When I took him for his dental appointment and bump removal, I showed the tech the bump on his back left foot (that was stained from him licking at it and that the vet supposedly looked at when he was there a couple weeks before.) They also showed me a broken tooth at the visit a couple weeks before, which was the determining factor for me scheduling the procedure. When I dropped him off I was told the doctor would call me when she was done. Not only did NO ONE call me, but I called them to ask if he was done at 5:15pm to find out, "Oh he's been done, no one called you?" So, I rush to go pick him up and find out not only did they not remove the small bump they were supposed to, but that instead he has staples and chunks of both is front legs taken out. WHAT did they do to my baby boy? They were trying to close and rushed me out the door with him without giving me any of the medications and when I went back to the door to get them, they had already locked the door and I had to bang to get them to open it back up and they questioned me, trying to convince me they had given me his meds.. Fiinally, they gave me his meds and I left. (BTW they shorted him on the meds they gave him, they did not last as long as they said they would and he ran out.) I was told Dr. Sara White would call me that Monday, SHE NEVER HAS CALLED ME. Clearly I don't trust her to touch my boys again and I emailed and requested their records. The records they sent weren't the right records for each dog and again they tried to convince me they were. Finally, I get the records, I still have not received the xrays I paid for the day of the surgery and have requested SEVERAL times, but even their office notes are wrong! At the visit they showed me his broken tooth (the note does not reflect this) and determined he needed dental cleaning and the bump removal, says the bump was on the right hind leg, (it's always been the left back foot) it also said he had light tartar (They showed me different) and no broken or fractured teeth (yeah they showed me that too.) This place used to be nice, but since I've seen Sara White my trust in this clinic is gone. I noticed even when we were in visits with her, she was always dismissive to anything I said. She would ask a question and then just dismiss the answer. I thought maybe I was being sensitive, but now that I look back. I should have known better and NEVER SHOULD HAVE TRUSTED HER with my baby boy!

On Wednesday, July 30, 2025, our sweet little girl, "Lola," a mini petti who was my joyous, happy…read moreGrand fur baby visiting for two weeks from Nashville, TN died. During her second week of vacation here in Virginia, my daughter scheduled two appointments for little Ms. Lola; one for a nail clipping and another for a bath and grooming. Lola went to C C Pet Spa on Monday, July 28, 2025 to have her nails clipped and on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 she returned for the bath and grooming. On Wednesday, about an hour after leaving her at C C Pet Spa we received a call from C C Pet Spa indicating that there was an emergency at the Pet Spa. I rushed to the Pet Spa and was informed that our Lola was currently at a Veterinary Hospital up the street and as I walked into the examination room at the Vet Hospital, Ms. C C, her Assistant, my heartbroken daughter were all present but Lola was not there but, in another room, and was deceased. We were in shock and our hearts were broken as Lola was just running around the house as happy as she could be just an hour before. We do not know what happened to Lola at C C Pet Spa and we may never know, but what we do know is that while we were at the Veterinary hospital, Ms. CC of CC Pet Spa stated to us that she would be paying for Lola's cremation expenses. We didn't ask her to, nor had we ever had a pet cremated, and we couldn't even grasp the loss at the time as our hearts were just shattered, as Lola is a Velcro puppy, a sole companion and a pampered and much-loved little girl. She gets groomed on a regular basis in TN and has never had an issue. Ms. C C informed the Veterinary Hospital multiple times that she would pay for the cremation expenses and the Hospital confirmed and reminded us several times that Ms. C C had indicated to them that she would be paying for the cremation expenses (just as she had stated to us). The arrangements were finalized on Thursday with the cremation vendor. The Veterinary Hospital stated to me that their calls to Ms. C C were not being answered nor their voice messages. On Friday, August 1, 2025 the Veterinary Hospital called and informed me that they were finally able to reach Ms. C C. She has now advised them that she will not be paying for the cremation expenses. This adds insult to injury as C C Pet Spa did not have the decency to inform us that they are defaulting on paying for the cremation expenses, which was proposed by Ms. C C of C C's Pet Spa. We are heartbroken by the sudden and unexpected, unexplained death of this six year old, vibrant and happy little girl and by the conduct of CC Pet Spa in taking our pet to a facility, agreeing to pay for the cremation expenses and then leaving it to that facility to contact us to let us know of their despicable behavior in not paying for the cremation expenses they agreed to. Their lack of empathy and concern towards the pet owners and the added expenses we incurred as we grieve the loss of little Lola is egregious. If I could write a negative -5 Stars I would. Thank you,

The staff, the groomers, and even the other customers are always friendly -- and it truly says a lot that all the pets who come here seem just as happy and well-mannered. The groomers here are contracted out, and the groomer I personally use is Mya -- and she is absolutely amazing. She is one of the only people I fully trust with my dogs. She is kind, patient, reasonably priced, flexible with scheduling, and genuinely cares about both the pets and their owners. I have two pit bulls, and anyone with this breed knows how difficult it can be to find a groomer who is both willing to take them -- let alone take both dogs on the same day. Mya not only accommodates both of my dogs together, but she also goes above and beyond to meet their individual needs. One of my dogs is not a fan of large crowds, and Mya is incredibly understanding and accommodating by scheduling us for the very first appointment of the day before anyone else arrives. That level of consideration means everything to me. What I also love is that while one of my dogs is being groomed, my other dog gets to play with Mya's little dog that she brings with her -- and they absolutely adore each other. It makes the entire experience feel calm, personal, and stress-free. One of my dogs is older, and I truly appreciate that one of the tubs has steps so he doesn't have to be lifted or jump in. That extra thoughtfulness makes a huge difference for senior pets. Another great perk is that they offer a self-wash option where you can bathe your dog yourself using their products or bring your own. It's such a convenient option to have. Overall, this grooming spot is welcoming, clean, inclusive, and filled with people who genuinely care about animals. If you're looking for a groomer who treats your pets with patience, respect, and love -- especially if you have larger breeds or dogs with special needs -- I cannot recommend Mya and this facility enough.
