I heard about Arms of Aloha in passing as others recommended them on various Facebook dog groups that I'm a part of. When my dog was diagnosed with cancer, one thing that popped into my mind was that, if possible, I'd like to let her cross over at home, where she was more comfortable. This thought was even stronger after having visited the vet so many times in the last weeks of her life. I had read up on the literature available on the Arm's of Aloha website (where you can also get an estimate) as well as preregistered. You can also look at their appointments available. They advise on making an appointment at least 1-2 days in advance, especially on the weekends. The hard part is knowing ahead what day that will be. My dog took a turn for the worst one day and I went back and forth on scheduling the only/last appointment available for the next day (appts can be seen/booked online). No one wants to make that call (decision), but it's also painful to watch your beloved friend suffer. They do have a thorough cancellation policy you can read online and I decided I'd book the last appointment to secure it and I could always cancel/reschedule more than 8 hours out. In the confirmation email, there is a link to a video to watch of the Doctor describing the process so you're familiar - I'd recommend this if it is your first time through this. I guess because it was already the next day, they called me shortly after to confirm my appointment. I could barely get the words out the confirm but I never felt judged by the person on the phone. The morning of the appointment, I received an invoice in my email. They suggest taking care of it ahead of time as doing it in the moment with so many emotion is harder. I appreciated this detail and was able to get it out of the way. At our scheduled appointment time, Dr. Naun came to our house. She has a calm and peaceful energy to her. She had some further paperwork for me to sign then we started the process. It was peaceful, and of course sad, but Dr. Naun brought comfort to the situation and we're so grateful for a service like this. We chose to have our dog's ashes returned to us and about a week later, we received a beautiful urn and our paw prints. With the service, they have a chaplain who you may access to talk to if you need help. I did not use it but they do also offer at home palliative care.

Tradewinds went above and beyond and provided exemplary care for my boys. Their kennel was spacious and they had an indoor/outdoor run, with my two boys sleeping indoors during the night. They also have a gorgeous, large yard where my dogs were able to have (supervised) playtime each day. I love that the daily playtime is also one-on-one with the caregiver, which is so helpful for dogs who are reactive/wary toward other dogs. The daily update photos on Facebook really put my mind at ease- my pups seemed to be having lots of fun! The facility itself is beautiful, and the staff did wonderfully with my dogs, especially with my anxious dog. They were accommodating of my requests, and worked hard to make both myself and my pups feel at ease. Kehau is amazing with my Frenchie, Banzai. As a Frenchie…read moremom I'm always worried that my energetic boy will be too much for whoever we're boarding him with. Kehau came out to meet him before boarding him and seeing how she interacted with him right off the bat eased any apprehension I had about leaving him. She made him comfortable very quickly and listening to commands shortly after. A huge plus was that she both picked up from and dropped him off at home when we got back. That made our trip just so much easier. On top of that, he was listening to commands much more than when he left! Oh, and getting pics of him on our trip was the cherry on top. Will definitely be bringing him back to her whenever we need to go on a trip. Hope to have him have a playdate with her soon too.

They are also one of the few day care services that provide pick up/drop off service in town, which is so convenient.
