We've purchased a few pets from here. They have all sorts of various animals but it seems cats, and ferrets and every now and then. Customer service is great. Although they normally have one person manning each area. I've had to come back to the fish area a couple of times and if you have a curious customer or several customers in front expect to wait. I'm sure if you are in a rush you could run down another employees. Items seem to be well stocked. Only once did I come here and not find what I was looking for. Apparently they missed a shipment and was told to come back on a specific following day. I showed up a week later and sure enough what I was looking for was available. read more

I'd like to start this review off by saying that I feel a deep personal connection to this Pet Supermarket, seeing as I adopted my beloved cat Oliver Conrad from this particular location. I wouldn't say that he's well taken care of as much as I would say that he's spoiled rotten.....he's like the Kardashian of cats....without the drama. That being said, I'm here frequently, spending a small fortune on various holistic canned and dry foods (because my cats turn their noses up at the more affordable brands like Friskies). If it ain't meat...they won't eat. Two of the brands that I buy, based on their "preferences" go as follows: Earthborn Holistic (Grain Free): Favorite flavors seem to be the Chicken Fricassee (Chicken with Vegetables in Gravy) and the Monterey Medley (Skipjack Tuna and Grilled Mackerel with Vegetables). My 3 cats are much like bratty children...each must get an EQUAL portion of food or it's anarchy. So if I mention a kitchen scale purchase in a future review, you know what its for. Perform Ultra (Grain free): Favorite flavors are the Salmon Bisque and Chicken Stew. Whenever I feed my cats, I feel as if I should be wearing an apron and checking back to see "if everything is tasting ok." Any attempts that I've made to change it up and sneak in a can of Friskies has resulted in looks of contempt and the silent treatment from all. I can't recall the cost of each brand, because the more I see the price, the more I'm convinced that my cats eat better than I do. Pet Supermarket is conveniently located close to home, and is always well-stocked and clutter-free, making it all the more easier to be the "humble servant" that I am. LESS STRESS, LESS MESS Includes everything you need Less Stress - we were the only ones in the store, but had there been multiple dog wash users, there is no separation, which depending on the dogs could be VERY stressful. Includes everything you need. That is a lie. You must bring your own brushes, sponges, cotton balls, etc. The dryer nozzle would not stay on. $19 and I will be looking for another facility. read more

Came here today to buy a couple little fish for a new aquarium I bought on a whim. everybody in the store was very nice. The store was clean all throughout and well organized. I found what I needed with no trouble and after a couple minutes of Perusing the fish, a girl came over and helped me pick out what I wanted. They automatically asked me for my frequent user account number at the checkout. The store was organized in an easy to discover fashion and they have quite a bit of upscale pet food products and toys. I enjoyed my visit today and I will definitely be back. read more

As a new dog owner, I feel like I'll be frequenting Pet Supermarket on a more regular basis. This was my first time here, and off the bat, I was impressed with the easy to navigate layout and cleanliness of the store. Now, we ended up spending A TON of money here, because clearly we were starting from scratch with this being our first pet in our home. So, I don't have a point of reference on pricing, comparable to other pet supply stores in town. You would think they would make the aisles larger, but I guess many folks aren't buying a ton of things like we were, rather picking up an item or two. But if you're using a cart, you've been warned. A well-deserved shout out goes to one of the employees (of course I forgot her name), because she nearly hung out with us for 20 minutes explaining all the ins and outs of pet care and products. SHE IS THE REAL MVP!! From dog food to crates, leashes to treats, and combs to kongs, it seems like they've got a huge supply of various products. No luck finding the food, when asking the associate about the brand I was looking for, I was steered to the $4.00 + per cam high end. That mission was an epic failure. I spent $16 on an ID tag for my dog and when I went to engrave it no other fonts populated and an employee came over and re-did the whole process.. just to ask another associate why it wasn't working. I continue to shop here because they really do have terrific customer service. The selection for grain-free dry cat food is second to none. This time I picked up the Nutro brand because it was highly recommended by two staff members. It was a little over $25 including tax for the medium sized bag. I know. A little pricey, but in the long run I believe it works out. I like that salmon was the first ingredient and no unnecessary grains. My Kitty is enjoying her new kibble and I am happy Pet Supermarket offers such a great selection of grain-free food for our pets. read more

We came in here after adopting our new dog from the Mega Adoption downtown. We had no supplies at all and this was the closest place to our house (thanks Yelp app!). We were going to go to a large discount store but then realized that our dog (a boxer mix) had a large neck and deep chest and we needed to actually try a collar/harness on him. Thank goodness, Pet Supermarket is dog friendly. (We had a slip leash but nothing else.) The workers were friendly and polite and had no problem with the 3 of us sitting on the floor, wrangling a wriggly dog and trying all sorts of things on him. One worker (Andrew) even helped us find appropriate food and offered a list of things we might need. (We passed on that, since we've had dogs in the past, but it's still good to know.) They have a great selection of collars, harnesses and leashes and I'm so glad we were able to find exactly what we wanted in our price range. Because he tried them on, we didn't have to return anything because it didn't fit. We will be back because we will need a Kong soon and perhaps another toy or two. read more

I see a lot of my friends go here and have good reviews. Well, my first and only experience here was not so good. The cocky young man who tried to help me couldn't. The three dog foods(dry and canned) I buy for my dog at another pet food store competitor, they did not have or ever will have, according to him. He told me the food I was buying for my dog, was "crap". I did buy a couple of things and at check out, I felt the same "air" from the Cashier as well. I will never darken the door here again. For the last 6 months, every time I go to this location they are completely out of super worms. I am always advised to "check back on Thursday when the shipment comes." Hell, its Monday why are they sold out every week? Everyone else seems to prefer PetCo, but when it comes to chain pet stores, it's all about Pet Supermarket for me. This is not a big store by any means, but it's not super small either. They cater to all species. If you are in the mood for rescuing a cat, this store is usually fostering kittens from the local animal shelters. They also have fish, ferrets, rabbits, and birds available for purchase as well. My usual reasoning for stopping in here is for dog treats or dog toys. Kongs (which we have had around for about a year now and still haven't had to replace), pig ears, balls, and rope bones. Pet Supermarket has an awesomely durable rope bone that is about 3 feet long. We had gotten one for our younger dog (who is now about a year and a half old) when she was teething and it was the absolute best thing to keep her from chewing anything else in the house. It lasted for six to seven months until she finally pulled the whole thing apart. They do have a plethora of other items as well, but as I really only shop for the dogs, I don't wander too far out of that section. I'm not a fan of the selection of dog collars as none seem all that durable. I have a dog who loves to play and when we walk, we hike. So I've always had to look at places like Bark or even online to find a harness, collar, and leash set that suit us (as I much prefer PlanetDog's fleece lined ones). read more

This is a well kept, friendly pet supermarket. Much less dingy feeling than the others I've visited. Every time I've gone, without fail, I have been greeted as soon as I came in and asked if I needed help by the time I rounded an aisle. Any time I have heavy items, someone has either taken the items up to the register for me and/or helped me out to the car with them. I also have attended special events here, with costume contests and free goodies. Lots of fun and a great way this store is trying to help build local community. In general, Pet Supermarket carries my cat's favorite food and litter, and send out coupons via email every month! The buy 10 get 1 I've yet to find in any other brick and mortar store. I surely will miss them when I relocate from Florida. read more

We went in to buy our fur babies a Jew bed. All staff members were very nice. I asked about the pet washing station. Came back the very next day and the experience was amazing!!! They have everything you need!!! Water warm for our babies, my back didn't hurt from bending over and the dryers....I want one for my home. The dogs left smelling great and never again will have the wet dog smell. read more

This is my favorite chain pet store in Jax. We have two kitties and a pup to buy supplies for, so we are in here a lot! It's close to my house which is always a plus. The layout is open, clean and easy to navigate. The employees are very friendly and helpful. They carry our brand of kitty litter, (cat owners KNOW when they find a brand they like), in a huge 40 lb box. (The little sh*t monsters, we call them.) Great selection of foods here too. Everything from your basic store brands, to the special, and more expensive, grain free, all-natural varieties. Also some refrigerated varieties for dogs. I love the selection of organic dog bones for small pups too. There is a brand of Good night bones that has chamomile that we swear by for our hyper puppy. All in all, all the basics here. For cute collars and special items, I definitely head to a local boutique, even though they have a few here. I do wish they had a clinic on site, just because one of my kitties needs a special vet prescribed food, so we have to buy direct from the vet. But that's ok! :) If you are looking for a kitty to rescue, they usually have a few at this location with a minimal adoption fee, from one of the local shelters. read more

I purchased a Gecko and all the "fixins" from this store. When i go back to buy crickets (only eats live food) they are almost always out. They get the crickets on tuesday and thursday , by the time i get to the store tuesday at 60pm they are all gone. I have complained to the manager but just got lame excuses. So i called corporate and the regional manager said he cant increase order because it is based on sales. How can that be, they have zero slaes on wed, close to zero on friday and zero on sat and sunday. They only have crickets tuesday and thurday early. I know ,crickets, but imagine if you went for dog food but they only got dog food in on tuesday and it was sold out by tueday night. don't waste your time here, go to a real petstore ( or petco if looking for aquariums, they are considerable cheaper there anyway). Great staff, you are always greeted when you arrive. Always willing to help you find something, which is great because the place is HUGE! I own a dog business, but I shop here when I am in between on treats or toys or need something today. They have a great selection and really have some nice new products. If you cannot wait for it online, this is a great store to get it NOW. Plus, it is dog friendly, so a great place to bring your dog to get them acclimated to the rabbits, hamsters, and other critters there. read more

Overpriced and mismanaged a sale sign left on dog that i was told was experied ? And the manager did not want to let me have for sale price this is false advertising and when i mentioned that I was met with hostility and sarcasim at this Fernandina Beach store. I will never shop there again and will recommend others shop elsewhere like Amazon it is cheaper and they will deliver to your door in one day. The people are very nice and try to help, but items that are shown as available on their website are nowhere to be found, and there is no similar option available as a substitute. It's a little disappointing. Clean store, staff is always friendly (except for one occassion but everyone has a bad day). Staff is knowledgable and happy to help find what you need. They are conveniently located to us and our pup enjoys going in and receiving treats at the counter. Downsides...wish they carried Orijen food and Trifexis, Vetoquinol vitamins. We now have a small breed dog which I have learned needs clothes, even in FL. I won't embarass him in a funny or ugly sweater so I recommend going to Tuesday Morning next door for suitable dog wear if needed. Or shop online. Muzzles if needed are scarey, we don't need one but they are by the harnesses.Their selection is S&M looking black contraptions, reminded me of Silence of the Lambs or something. I wasn't impressed with their harness selection, went online and got a Voyager brand. Lifejackets were way in the back and only a few in stock, missed them first 2 times I looked for them. This was surprising as we are located so close to Ortega River and tons of marinas just up the street from this location. Otherwise, they have a decent selection. Wellness, Taste of the Wild, Doggy ice cream, raw food.. Downside...wish they carried Orijen food, Vetoquinol vitamin paste, Trifexis. As I approach the glowing, neon monument known as Pet Supermarket, my bowels churn as I think about the nightmare that awaits. The doors slide open 'for my convenience' and, as soon as my foot crosses the threshold, the voices of two shrill beasts cry out in a twisted sing song unison. "Hi, do you need help with anything today?" The sick twisted irony in their tortured words are not lost on my now aching ears. In hushed tones I assure them I can handle it, and I charge deeper into the sickeningly lit cavern. I'm halfway to my destination when one of the shrill duo cries out from behind. She must be claiming another victim, I think to myself, but upon turning around I see that the fowl beast is beginning to follow me down the isle. Saliva spills from her mouth as she squeaks about giving me a hand over and over again. Without slowing my step I assure her once more that I can do this, considering I've come here to do a task I've already completed many times. I see an ogre just passed the isle I need to turn down. I avoid his gaze and turn, but alas he growls out that he too can help me should I need anything. I ignore him entirely and turn down my isle. The dog food in hand, the same exact dog food I purchase every single time I come here, I bound back down the isle. A third creature like the first two I met inspects my dog food. She asks me, much like the demons here do every time I leave, if I have a seal of membership to this evil place. No, I respond, and I would not like one. Still she asks me like a demonic, broken record, "Would you like to sign up for one?" I tell her again, no I would not like to. I hand her the money and step out into the gloomy day. I've managed to keep my sanity once more. It is a shame I cannot say the same for the poor beasts I just escaped. read more

Not a bad pet supply store near Regency. Great selection of food, toys, and products to please all types of pets. This store is not as new or nice as the one located in the Town Center, but what I love about Pet Supermarket is the employees. It really feels like everyone that works here is super friendly and actually cares about our little buddies. I was especially thankful with the help I received at this location fitting a fully assembled cat tower into my car. A young man willingly and quickly was able to place it in the car, when I had about given up all hope that I would be able to get it home the day I visited. I also purchased some items that I discovered would not really work with my babies when I got home, and I was very satisfied with how easy it was to return and exchange them. Since I moved closer to this location and with a cat and now a new dog, I have a feeling I will be frequenting Pet Supermarket in the future. read more

I purchased a winter white which he was black. At my house there was a little soft looking pop on the wheel and the little house that I had him in had a horrible smell I thought he was getting or was sick. I had purchased the Chinese dwafs and they kept getting out of the cage so I took them back. Im getting a head of myself. I had purchased one black one on Thursday and took it back because I want the solid black one thats the one that my opinion was getting or was sick. Im 53 years old raised everthing that you could think of since 5 years old. Went back to the store to get the other black one with a little strip on his side. We spend atleast 2 hundred dollars per month. When the two girl come over and told me that they wouldnt sell me a hamster because I brought back the Chinese dwafs told them they keep getting out. Then my opinion was getting sick she told me that the black one that I brought back was sicky here at my house. She told me that I had brought back to many. Three Chinese that kept getting out. I could have sworn that one was sick. My husband buys 200 dollars a month and I spent alot for my hamsters. I purchased two from them and I still have them. What im trying to say that they wouldn't sell me a hamster and walked away from me like I was a piece of shit. Two girls. Im not stoping here. Its funny because the papers that you get from petsmart tells you that if your animal is sick or isn't happy with the pet bring it back. You could buy and take back over and over. The store thats horrible is St. Johns petsupermarket. Im going to call the 800 number and do what I need to do. read more
