Staffing is non existent at this location. I'm walking out as I type this because I just waited for 15 minutes for someone to help with crickets... no one seemed to care and I wasn't the only one who needed help in that department. I wouldn't have minded if they just communicated that they were understaffed and someone would be there asap, but the lack of care and concern was obvious. The one associate whose usually really helpful, said she was grabbing hamsters and it would be a few minutes! I already waited 15 wishful thinking... they also didn't have large mealworms in stock. Maybe hire more people or don't sell crickets at this location because it's always a massive scavenger hunt to find someone to help you get some! ‍ read more

I just rescued my puppy a few days ago. The first thing I did was bring her to the vet then straight here. We walked straight to the treat area and she accidentally had an accident in the store but thankfully they had a clean up area. We found some treats and a nice toy from here which the toy squeaker already broke. I love how the cashier was very nice and wanted to give our puppy a petting and a milkbone treat. read more

Yesterday I made an appointment to give my dog a bath and brushing. The appointment was for 9:00a.m.5 June. I arrived at exactly 9:00a.m. I told them give me a call when they are done. The person at the store told me I had to wait right there. So I went to the resister. Up font and paid, then returned to the dog washing area. At exactly 20 minutes they brought my dog out wet and not brushed. I had to go home and dry my dog. This is total B.S. Yesterday they wanted me to buy into a special plan. The person behind the counter said I wool be getting several free dog washes. That just wasn't so. I did the math and it cost just the same. More B.S. Between you and me I'd prefer a sharp stick in the eye instead of returning to Pet Smart and their lack of service. As I was drying me wet dog at home I discovered that they did not even use soap. I will have to wash my dog this afternoon. I don't understand why I paid for a wet dog? The only reason I gave them one star is because I can't submit a comment with no stars. read more

We visit this pet store frequently for our dog's grooming supplies, medications, and toys. I have considered the grooming here, but was not sure my rescue dog would cooperate so recently talked to a groomer about best nail clipper options to do it myself. I appreciated the patient and thorough recommendations. I am also often impressed at how the store clerks are very helpful finding specific products. When they are not busy they are happy to walk you to requested items and discuss options when available. Many people bring their pets into the store which makes for an interested shopping experience. I have brought my golden, but she is too distracted by the treats around the store to make it a relaxing shopping experience for me. Prices are average for a pet store but service is always superb so happy to shop at this PetSmart location. read more

Ive been to this pet store multiple times and regret it each time. They never have anything I need when I go. I went today to get feeder fish and they had absolutely none of any kind, I was looking at the other fish and noticed they were all covered in ick ( a very hard to cure and the fastest spreading fresh water tank disease) so I called when I got home to tell them and the lady was completely rude about it. We went to the town center store 1st and could never get help. We walk in and I tell the ladies at the registers we need help with a harness and sweater for our older dog. One girl closes her register and helps us! I'm sorry I don't have her name but I think it started with a C but she was on the 2nd register. I have a bad back and walk with a cane. When I go in stores I use a buggy to keep me from falling. The help I had in this store was awesome! She was patient and understanding. Our dog Gloria wasn't really into help but she talked to her and was so kind and patient! I cannot say how much I appreciated the help!! Great job! What struck me was the absence of the smell of pet pee that usually pervades most pet stores. I simply came in to buy some grain-free jerky and puppy kibble for my furry land shark. They stock the expected range of products from brands such as Purina, Authority, True Chews, Blue Wilderness, Royal Canin, Milo's Kitchen, Simply Nourish and so on. As with all pet stores, do your research first to make sure that you know where the ingredients in your furry family members food comes from. The staff were friendly, helpful and happy. I've been a customer at this PetSmart store for the last 2 years, and usually the service here is very good, the selection of products excellent. Sadly, where much improvement is needed is customer service, especially at checkout. And it's not all the checkout clerks (2 or 3 are very friendly & helpful) but this ONE in particular, a young man who's customer-service acumen is quite poor. He is at times very disinterested in his job and in this most recent visit at the Monument Road store he was quite insulting, rude and very unprofessional! He is also apparently a little hard of hearing, and I gave him my phone number (and I said it quite clearly so that he could understand) he claims he could not hear me, then begins chatting at the customer behind me talking about me in a very, albeit subtle, abusive manner. This store would be rated much higher otherwise. I would suggest to the manager to remind this cashier that he better take customer service training or find some other employment elsewhere where he can keep his mouth shut. Thank you. read more

Petsmart allows your animals to shop with you, as as they are on a leash. I take, Sadie every 10-14 days on a field trip to get her food. At the register, there is a place to hook your dog up, while paying. They also ask if the can give your dog a doggie bone. This little outing is a real treat for my dog, Sadie. She was very knowledgeable about dog training as well as nutrition and wellness. She been a fur mommy for many years and was so helpful to me and my dog, Jeni. Through the countless foster animals we've had plus our own personal menagerie, Pet Smart has been our go to place. Everything we need, we find here (well, except for goat chows and hay). Our dogs love coming in with us and our kids like to look at the animals and try to talk us into adopting another cat. We have 3. The answer is no. This is in regards to the grooming salon at this location. I made an appointment online for my Shar-Pei puppy who had been to this location for grooming a couple times prior. Upon showing up before my appointment time, I was asked a few questions and verified some info about my pet. The groomer asked if my dog had ever been aggressive towards people or other dogs, and I said no, not to my knowledge but you guys had to muzzle her on one occasion which is fine, but she does not like water or getting bathed and has snarled at me at home before when I've tried to groom her (hence why I usually take her to get groomed by a professional). The groomer then steps to the back to talk with a coworker and they both come back out. The groomer advises me that she is unable to wash my dog because she has a medical condition and cannot ensure the safety of herself or my dog, I said okay that's fine no worries. She then advised me that my dog should have been coded as a "manager only" dog. I asked what exactly that means and she said that the manager is the only one that can handle my dog because the manager "has the patience of a saint". Meanwhile, I'm thinking "shouldn't ALL of you have patience?" She tells me that my dog has "lunged" at one of the other younger groomers and has shown inappropriate behavior. So here I am, wondering why NO ONE mentioned this, when it happened, and why am I just now finding out about it. She offered to change my appointment time for when the manager would be in, and also offered me 10% off for my inconvenience. Meanwhile, my dog is shaking her head, she's pacing back and force in the waiting area, and is panting out of control. I'm not exactly sure what went on beyond the glass wall, but I will not be taking my dog back here ever again. How unprofessional can you be? On top of all of that, the groomer then recommended to me that I enroll my dog in training or hire a personal trainer so that this behavior can be fixed. How about you fix your attitude and have the courtesy and patience not only for our beloved pets, but towards the owners as well! read more

RE: Guinea Pigs. I bought a boy guinea pig from here that is a darling, which is why I gave this three stars. A week later I went to different stores trying to find it a male cage mate and had to return each one because every boy guinea pig I put in there with my first one would lose their crap and would be so aggressive towards my first guinea pig that i had to separate the cage, and each one would cry and growl and spend hours shaking the divider trying to get to him. Turns out the first guinea pig I bought is actually a girl and they were trying to mate with her! I know, should be obvious but most guinea pigs start off looking the same. The last cage mate had an obvious scrotum which is when the light finally went off in my head and I decided to at her more closely, and I do it every week now to see if they are any changes that show she really is a he, but so far no scrotum protruding and no penis. Female. And I feel like such a perv, but the positive side is that she is a good guinea pig. Not noisy, no health issue so far, not a very picky eater. And I hope she is not pregnant. Pet smart did offer for me to bring her in so they can confirm but I decided to just deal with it. She is a darling little guinea pig. If she has babies I will deal with it and re-home them myself. It is hard to properly sex a young guinea pig. If your looking for a boy, ask to look at their privates and if you still can't tell, just get one and wait to see if it develops more. I just moved to this area from Michigan so i am not sure if this is how PetSmart is ran down here or not. First, i could not find one employee to help me in the store - i had to ask a cashier who then got yelled at later for leaving the cash register to help. Second, Not one employee in the store could answer my simple questions. I feed my dog the Brand "Into The Wild" which not one employee even know if PetSmart carried it. So i asked how to switch to a different brand and for recommendations, which they could not answer either. I am an obsessed dog owner and I am proud of it! Therefore whatever he likes we love. Petsmart is one of our favorite stores. They carry everything any doggy, kitten, fish, or reptile needs. The associates tend to be knowledgable and helpful and their selections are vast. What sets each petsmart location apart (in my opinion) is the grooming salon. I have had some amazing experiences and some not so pleasant experiences so when I decided to come to this location after being disappointed with a different location I was a little hesitant. I called to book our appointment and was told I could bring the pup in in 30 minutes! Perfect. Upon entering the grooming salon I observed a sign that said I could book my next appointment online so I will definitely try that next time. The staff was pleasant, the lady who was grooming my pup was very nurturing and gentle and appeared to really love her job. An hour after dropping my pup off I received a call to pick him up. AN HOUR, thats the fastest grooming service I have ever received and he came out tail wagging and coat shining! From now on we will be coming to this location. read more

Wish I could give 0 stars I took my cat here to get a lil touch up because I called and the girl who answered the phone told me a price and said that it included getting the sanitary areas cleaned, nose cleaned, and claws clipped (I had clipped her claws the week prior but just wanted a lil touch up) I had my dad drop her off since I was out of town and they told him the service I requested so he went ahead and signed for it. Turns out they made a mistake and signed me up for a bath and everything costing like $65, which I don't need at all. They tell me it's impossible I was told the touch up price because that's only for dogs not even thinking maybe the employee made a mistake. Ridiculous, I got quoted one price over the phone and they charged me triple. Also when I called to tell them to please not do all that because I'm on a budget they said the service was already complete when only 15-20 minutes had passed and they said it's take 3-4 HOURS. I really like this Petsmart. The employees are friendly and helpful. The store is always clean, although I think it could use some updating. The really cool thing is that they have cats from Jacksonville Animal Care and Protective Services for adoption. It's cool that they support the city shelter. Even though the door is shut, you can still walk inside and interact with the kitties. We paid $63 for Chrystal at grooming to give a bath and trim hair on the face. 63?!?! For a 5 month small puppy and they charged him as a bigger dog than what he will even be when he is full grown. Came to PetSmart for a bathing service for my husky and received such a great service! I scheduled an appointment online through yelp, and then I came in, dropped her off, and came back 3 hours later. I have never seen my husky as clean as before. Her ears were cleaned really good, and your coat was so smooth and clean. I received a bath service, nail trimming, ear cleaning and glands cleaning for just 40$. The price was really good compared to the other places I received quotes for. I will be coming back! Great service! read more

She showed me all the at home brushes I needed and also recommended size and age appropriate toys. I love walking in a corporate environment and finding someone knowledgable and courteous.
