At least once a year I come in here to get goodies for Cooper, my dog brother. You've seen his photos here every now and then enjoying a pup cup from Starbucks, or hiking some trails. It was his birthday in mid-January, and Cooper needed a fun treat. They have a bakery case in the front of the store that contains cannolis, doughnuts, cookies, all sorts of pastries for dogs. They look like human grade though, and the thought of tasting it did cross my mind, but I had self control and did not try it. Once again, I tried this place a few months ago with a new dog he is kind of a puff ball. He needed his first puppy cut when I tell you I could have taken some scissors and did what they did definitely thumbs down, but I digress and try to take him back again For a full cut wow I forgot his shot record at home and I guess that was unfortunate for me but the attitude of Pat the male groomer back there is very rude. I frequent this store often. I have two giant Maine Coon cats, one of which has cancer. I'm doing my research, I know what to buy to keep them both at their healthiest. I have been a Pet Supplies Plus customer for over 20 years and have shopped at many of the stores in the Buffalo & suburbs. I have always enjoyed shopping at the stores because they have always had the selections I need, as well as having friendly and helpful customer service associates. This store has jaded my impression though. Out of the last 3 times I have come into the store to get crickets, twice I have been reluctantly assisted by one of the associates who I assume is a manager. This assumption is made because almost every other time I have seen him in the past year or so, he is usually in the office area or up front. Today, was the final straw with him. He was in the office, I went and stood in line to request cricket help. Just as I was getting to the cashier, the gentleman left the office and went into one of the aisles towards the back. The cashier called for cricket help and I went and stood at the cricket enclosure. After about 5 minutes or so, he came down the aisle and said "How many do you need?" No greeting or anything. I replied " Can I please have 25 small and 25 large? You can put them in the same bag" At this point he literally deep sighed/ huffed and said "25 of each?!" I gritted my teeth and said "Yes please!" While he was counting out my crickets (I say this loosely because he was guesstimating) someone came in for a carry out or something and when the cashier said something to him, he replied with a sassy, sarcastic and bothered tone of voice "I'm busy counting crickets" followed by another deep sigh. While I understand crickets are not a huge moneymaker- my husband and I do buy a wide range of food, supplies and toys for all of our pets. Over the years I have been dedicated to shopping at these stores. After today though, I will no longer be shopping at this location. If this associate is in fact a manager, I think he needs to reevaluate his management and people skills because while he should be setting an example of good customer service, he is instead a turn off to this store. And, just as an FYI- I am myself in management, so I understand how customer service relates to the overall opinion of the store. read more

The workers here really care they seriously deserve an a award for how much they try to help you in anyway me and my fiancé had no idea that pugs needed their anal things expunged. When we got her no one told us anything about taking care of these type of animals we found out through just sheer reading and trying to Learn everything we could about our animals. Pets supplies plus was extremely helpful when figuring out what it takes to own a pet there is so much stuff that needs to be addressed to make sure they he or she can live a long life and it feels like this place really study's what's needed for each individual animal and takes pride in knowing these things. The selection is amazing. They have a huge supply of lots of great brands, of dog and cat food. You can pretty much get any type you want and again the prices are very competitive, pretty much the original reason we started to shop here. They also have toys like you wouldn't believe, as well as the hair and nail salon for animals in the back which also do the pug anal expunged things. I can tell you right now that's not a fun thing to do any for us we won't go anywhere else but to this place we found vets that's wanted 28 dollars to do it ... I have taken my dog for grooming at Pets Supplies Plus for almost a year. He has done well there, and Pat had always done a wonderful job with him. My dog was diagnosed with bladder cancer in September. He is on meds at home, and is doing well so far. He is a Shih Tzu, so he still needs regular grooming, which had been done 3 times since his diagnosis. Two weeks ago, I was unable to get an appointment with Pat, so I scheduled for a time that I could get there. Answering the routine questions, I again told them he has bladder cancer. The groomer called the manager. The manager came in and said he could NOT be groomed, it was "their policy". I said he had been groomed since his diagnosis, and he nastily stood his ground and said no grooming! The groomer asked if she could do a sanitary groom, and he said "absolutely NOT!". I said his cancer wasn't contagious, and he needed to be groomed! He had me in tears. The manager was heartless and rude. My boy needed to be groomed, so I brought him home and used scissors on him. He looks terrible, but at least he can eat and poop. And I will never utilize this heartless store again. read more

Went in there to get a quick trim on my dogs nails. We showed up around 7pm went into the grooming area. The lady come around the corner and huffs and puffs when she sees us. Tell her what we are there for her response "I guess we can take you"(with attitude). When asked if we been there before we say no it is our first time there. Well we can't take you without your rabies paperwork she said. (with even more attitude). Than tells us to come back tomorrow and makes a point in a snotty voice to tell us the close at 7. It was not that fact that they would not take us that bothers me. I understand that we need the right paper work. It was the rudeness that the clerk had towards my wife and I. If they are going to treat people like that how are they going to treat your animal that you love and can't speak for themselves. Not to good I would imagine. Buddy tangled with skunk last night. Managed to get him clean enough to make it through the night without burning house down! Call this morning and they got us in ASAP. Love the selection of dog treats. But as for the grooming I'm not sure I took my australian shepherd for a grooming @ the Cheektowaga,NY store. He was a rescue dog and is very friendly and a big baby. He was suppose to get a bath,cut and nails done but not even a hour after I dropped him off I got a phone call to come and pick him up. I was told he was stressed out during that hour and since I already paid he would have to have 2 visits to get everything done that I wanted. First of all the nails where done and I think he was bathed but didn't smell anything and they only trimmed around he's paws. I wanted he's whole body trimmed! I don't know how much training the groomers have or experience but if you can NOT groom a stressed out dog you shouldn't be in the business. read more

We bought some fish from here a couple of weeks ago. The new fish started dying so we removed them from our 40 gallon tank. Our older fish that we had for a couple of years also started to die. I called to tell them there was something wrong with there fish and was basically told no way must be our water. I took a sample of water and one of the sick fish to another pet store and was told our water was fine but the fish had dropsies and fin rot. We started treating what fish were left but sadly they all died. 14 fish in total. read more
