Ok everyone! This post is going PUBLIC. My post are usually for find only except this IMPORTANT post that everyone must read. I would like this to go viral so maybe we can find the owner of the dog in question that was at PET SUPPLIES PLUS GROOMING in Mentor Ohio on Mentor Avenue in Pointes East Shopping Plaza Sunday June 4th, 2023. My husband and I went into the Pet Supplies Plus store in Mentor. We do not usually got o that location and decided to just look around. We cam across the grooming station which you could stand in front and watch. We observed a man rocking back and forth holding his head while talking to another groomer whom was grooming another small dog. He then turned all red and starting cussing. A medium sized dog I am guessing rom the bark, was barking in the back. The man started saying "shut up shut up shut up." Over and over again. Progressively getting louder. He then turned around while holding his head and karate kicked the back door in hard enough to where the door bounced back at him. He started screaming "SHUT THE FUC* UP." We heard a boom and a whimper. The dog immediately went quiet. He came back out and still holding his head, tole the groomer "I cant take it anymore, that damn dog has been barking non stop for two hours." I looked at him along with several others observing. I said, "Excuse me, bit was that a custmers dog you just did that to?" He responded as yes. I began to tell him off saying how inappropriate that was and how could he do that to a dog and treatt a dog that way. I told him, "you know I have to report you." He said ," Yes, go ahead. My actions were not appropriate." We remained int he store for another 20 minutes or so, the whole time there was not a single whimper from that dog. We reported him, but no one wanted to help. We were shoved from one person to the next. The guy who finally said that the floor supervisor, Alexis told him to get a report.? She had pink hair and ignored us. He handed us a legal pad. I documented everything. I asked for the District number. Hesitation of course but we finally got it. We called, it was closed. I called that following Monday. Left two messages and nothing. Called third time, said I have video footage and I expect a return call. !5 minutes later I got a call from the district manager. I explained everything again. He investigated. called me back to find out the man in the grooming station is the grooming MANAGER, name is WILL. Also found out that NOONE took action. No-one went to see what happened. Needless to say my report went no where out of that store. The district manager said that situation is what is called a 911 and action was to be taken immediately. And no-one did. Without me calling this never would have been reported. The district manager told me Will, the grooming manager has been suspended until he gets medical help and the rest of his so called staff all has to be retrained. That is it folks! I asked if Will was still employed. The district manger said "Yes." The store clerk Noah, who asked us to fill out a report as asked to do so by the floor supervisor, Alexis, we found out IS the store supervisor who was to dumb founded and scared to do anything. Will is still the grooming supervisor, Noah is still the store supervisor. I will no longer shop there. I do not know what WILL did to that dog in the back. For the dog to not make a sound for almost a half hour? Now when this dog is brought back for grooming he will be terrified. And the owners will have no clue why. How many other dogs did WILL do something to? He will do it again. If you go there, drop by and see WILL. Also, tell the staff how lousy they are as managers, supervisors and so called pet lovers. Please get the word out. Trying to find out who's dog this was on that day around noonish. That was dropped off mid late morning. How can he continue to work there? I am at a total loss of words. I told the district that Will needs a different job away from animals. I asked him to look at the cameras to see what he did to that dog and how many others? He said not sure if there are CAMERAS at that location! Obviously Will knew this. A lady that seen and heard all this immediately asked for her dog who she just dropped off to get groomed. She left with her dog shaking her head, I asked if it was her dog that this happened to and she said "no.' I'm sickened. I am writing as many places as I can to call attention to this and in hopes of finding the owner of that dog on that Sunday afternoon on June 2nd. And possible many others...Bringing awareness to pay attention to your pets reactions when you drop them off somewhere or when they are in the company of others! DO NOT GO HERE! read more

I took my dog for a nail trim and the young lady that took my dog was very nice and accomodating but the man that was working with her was rude, unprofessional and not nice to the dogs. First, he told me that "all dogs need to be put on the table" when I told the girl that my dog probably would resist going on the grooming table. She explained that it was store policy and she would try to get her onto the table. I said "ok" (while the guy kept going on about "ALL DOGS HAVE TO GO ON THE TABLE") I ignored him and went to pay for my dog's nail trim. On my way back to the grooming department, I witnessed the man kick the door (the swinging door that leads to the dogs that are waiting for pickup) and raise his arms in the air yelling "SHUT UP" to a dog that was barking. Another customer also witnessed this and told the man that he shouldn't be yelling at dogs and he said that he has a right to use whatever force is necessary to control a dog in their care. Sam the groomer did a wonderful job explaining the grooming services prior to the appointment. She allowed me to feel comfortable leaving our pet in capable hands. My concern was for their safety as our german shepherd has a difficult time around new people. she had all the confidence that her and her fellow groomer would be able to manage our dog. .. and that they did. the price was very reasonable and the job they did was excellent! i highly recommend their grooming services read more

When I arrived, I thought that it was awfully permissive of my mom - or terribly bizarre for her cats - that the cats moved around the apartment without touching the floor. I am not kidding. Windowsill to microwave on top of table to half wall to table to chair to sofa to sofa to coffee table to chair - these two kitties were really agile and demonstrated extreme non-floor-touching prowess. The next morning - I realized why: FLEAS! And - for some odd reason - the fleas weren't bothering my mom! But they were ALL over me - so the next day after our stop at Lowes and lunch at Thai Orchid, Pet Supplies Plus is the next stop on our "Tour de Mentor Ave Mega Box Store Strip." The store is medium size - and kind of cluttered. I had to ask for access to Advantage - and when I asked for Advantage for dogs, the clerk started asking "how big is the dog" and I said I just wanted the large tubes of Advantage II. Then my mom let it slip that it was for two cats so the clerk launched into a "know it all" routine on me, telling me that Advantage dogs could never be used on cats. Actually - it can. Advantage 100 and Advantage II for dogs is the same as for cats. There is another type of Advantage which is dogs only - and frontline can't be swapped out but - if you have a multi-cat household, my local pet store AND my local veterinary clinic both agree: get a little 1.0 syringe and measure it out of the large tubes. It's utterly ridiculous that 6 tubes of Advantage for large dogs is the same cost as 6 tubes for cats but there you have it. Well, this clerk just started arguing with me and getting weird about it - I asked if she was going allow me to make the purchase or if I should talk to her manager. Seriously - I have never had so much trouble buying flea medication in my life! Kind of off-putting. Next time - I'll just buy the Advantage at my local pet store and mail it to my mother - sorry, Pet Supplies Plus, bad service doesn't get a repeat with so many options! I had a 9am grooming appointment at Pet supplies plus in Mentor Ohio this morning. I arrived on time, there were no signs of a groomer. I waited twenty minutes. while I was waiting there was another customer waiting. She told me there are times she came for appointments and she had multiple problems (double booked). As I was leaving I told customer service employee the groomer was not there. She tells me the groomer is running late. She then follows me outside and said maybe she should drive faster and get in an accident. Very rude. She should have walked back to grooming area to communicate to the customers Waiting. read more

I have 6 pets so I have shopped many pet stores and have not found one that is as customer service oriented as this Pets Supplies Plus in Mentor. The Manager, Rachel will go out of her way to make sure the customer is satisfied and help make sure their experience is successful. Jill, the cashier, is always friendly and if needed, will help you out to the car with your items. Their sales are great and they always have the items I am looking for in stock. They helped with his mats in his ears right on the spot and were so helpful and super patient with my puppy, who has never seen clippers before. We got off to a rough start months ago when I used the self wash service. I have a 170 pound Newfie who was injured as a puppy and the leg and hip did not heal correctly. A hip replacement fixed most of that but he's still a special needs dog. There were not enough towels and the wash stall wash dirty. I brought a couple of my own towels and the cleanliness kind of took care of itself. Then I decided to use Danielle to bathe and groom Moose - he's a load to handle. He's not a show dog - he lays down on the wash rack - he's 170 pounds - it isn't easy. In 3 hours I got a clean, combed and happy dog back and the cost was very reasonable. Now, they all know Moose when he comes in - he has no reservations about going with Danielle and we have noticed to adverse effects from his visits there. After reading other more negative reviews I wondered why the wash or wash/groom works so well for us? We go in happy - we come out happy - life is seldom perfect. read more

My family and I getting a puppy . The pup will be more of an emotional support dog for my granddaughter. The girl who helped me was absolutely amazing! I wish I knew her name , she works at the Mentor location. We will definitely be going back here because of not only her knowledge, but friendliness and care . I purchased about $250 worth of equipment... new tank, gravel, aerator, filter, etc., from Pet Supplies Plus. The light that came with it failed within 2 weeks and only a small percentage of the LED lights lit up. I brought it back and after waiting a long time for some lackadaisical customer service, the employee was too lazy to actually write the exchange up and just told me to swap my light out for the floor model of the Marineland Half Moon 30 Gallon tank. I went home and within a week, the light was doing the same thing (only a few of the lights lit up). I called this time to speak with a manager desiring a different model of light. They sold that light there but it was $75. I went ahead and bought it, but they told me that they would give me no credit for the other fixture and that I would have to deal with the manufacturer since it was beyond 30 days. They were not nice. They were not prompt. And I checked with other stores and they said they would have exchanged... Pet Supplies Plus is a sucky store. Don't spend your money there. read more

I am a hermit crab lover and occasionally I like to add to my family. So I decided to venture into Pet Supplies Plus to see what conditions they had their crabs in. I did not have high expectations as most pet stores and their staff have little knowledge of the care that hermit crabs actually need. I was not surprised to find them in a basic aquarium with gravel and next to no food or water. As I was used to these types of conditions, they were not going to keep me from buying any of the crabs. I 'rescued' five of the ones that looked lively. I made a few comments about their care to the friendly lady that took them out of the tank and prepared them for the ride home. This lady seemed to listen to me and I thought she was just humoring me. Boy was I in for a treat when I came back several months later, this past weekend. When I first arrived, I could not find the little aquarium that previously housed the hermit crabs that I had purchased earlier in the year. I asked one of the staff members if they still had hermit crabs and she took the time out to show me to the new location of the crabs. To my surprise, the crabs were in a bigger aquarium with what looked like the Eco Earth bedding that I know them to love. I also found filled water and food dishes as well as temperature and humidity gauges, things vital to their health and survival, and they were at the right levels. I was so pleased to find that my comments actually made a difference! I bought a few more crabs last week and they are all healthy and for once I bought hermit crabs that did not seem to want to leave the pet store; how about that? I believe I have found a new pet store, the prices aren't half bad either! read more
