Great selection of pet stuff here! It is small but they use the space efficiently and it is well organized. I was shopping here for a dog gift and they had SO many types of treats, bully sticks, and stuffed toys to choose from. I just wish the stuffed toys were kept a bit higher up. A lot of them looked a bit worn and were covered in dog hair from pets browsing lol... Prices are reasonable and staff are friendly. Nice community feel. I try to shop at places like this when I can, rather than the big chains like Pet Smart, Pet Valu etc. for a more personal touch. read more

Have been going here for years for all of our small animals (guinea pigs, rats, fish, birds). Prices are a bit more than I could find elsewhere but it's close, it's local and the staff is friendly and helpful. However, I feel that they are price gouging now. I bought bird seed last summer for $13 + tax for a 5 lb bag (same store). Today, I went and bought the same bag/same brand and I was charged $21.99 + tax! It seemed like a bit much but figured that I was wrong. I didn't realize the huge discrepancy in price until I got home and compared it with my previous bag still with the sticker on it. An almost 80% increase in less than a year! I get that COVID has hit a lot of businesses very hard. We are trying to do our part by shopping local (which we've always done, even when we could have bought things cheaper elsewhere. It's a price we are willing to pay). But this is a rip-off! This is not how you encourage people to shop local; this is how you encourage them to shop elsewhere as I will be doing from now on. read more

We had the most horrible experience here for a trim for our Pomeranian. It was our first time trying this spot for grooming. I asked for just a small trim and the dog came back almost shaved and unrecognizable. We asked to speak to management and a male called who first blamed their groomer who is an Asian lady that she doesn't speak English (she does) and then blamed us on semantics (trim vs cut). He also just spoke over us and was super combative. Essentially they will not own up to their own mistakes. They did not offer any reimbursement for their hideous mishandling either. Pomeranians cannot be buzzed so short due to their double coat. The manager was just blaming his employee and then customer. They also charged me before I saw the dog, so you don't know if they've caused damage to their fur. We've been to other groomers prior and have never experienced such poor service and combativeness. read more

I love Pet Uno. They have so many brands of pet food and lots of allergy specific options. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They even have free delivery for pet food. My dogs love it as much as I do as they know they are going to get a treat from a staff member. They also have a good selection of toys, dog bags, beds, leashes, everything you need. First time here . It looks like a hip store to get you pet stuff they do have some nice beds . BUT this is what I did not like we bought a little bag of a high-quality brand because we where in the city and had the dog with us so we hit some food for him. Got to the car and gave him some food a d he did not want any. No big deal went home and noticed that the food expires in 2 weeks that's not good. Finally came in the other day to check out the scene. I was intrigued by the hilarious "lil dick licker" dog bed they had predominately displayed in the window (you've gotta appreciate the humour in that!) and had been meaning to check this place out anyways. Price-wise, they seem pretty on par with the other guys (namely Pet Valu and Global) and do give 5% case discounts. Lots of treats, toys, accessories, supplements, etc. the selection of actual food was a little lacking (on my dogs particular brand, Natural Balance -- only chicken, fish and vegan dry) but the employee said that they can order in anything on request and can even deliver it for free! Not totally necessary for me, but knowing that it's an option is always helpful. In case I break my leg or something... Good to have this place around! read more

This is a nice little pet supply store. I have no idea why there are negative reviews. Prices are reasonable and the store is neat and clean. The gentleman who works behind the counter has always been helpful. They also work with local rescue groups to get cats adopted, which is part of why I like supporting them. They carry a wide variety of cat foods and pet products. The biggest issue I've always had is simply finding parking in this area. When I buy pet food, I usually buy in large quantities because I have cats and we foster kittens, so I usually need more than I can bring by bike and you'll get a ticket for parking illegally on College sometimes within 2-3 minutes because of on-foot metre maids. It's a big issue for me, because to be able to move huge bags of food and cases of cans to my car, it needs to be close to the shop, so I find I don't shop here as often as I would if there were more accessible parking. read more

One of the WORST Pet Store experiences EVER! My 3rd visit and the weary looking short Blond lady was working Again and overbearing Again! She talks to you as though she's discipling a Pet. The credit card/Interac terminal is down Again (50% of the time) When you ask her a question she points to the shelf. When you talk to her she chews gum with her mouth open. When you ask her about a product it doesn't exist (Feliway) she grumbles, shrugs an offers no proactive solution. The markup $ on Products is 15% higher than at other pet stores. And gawd forbid you gently open a cat cage to carefully and lovingly pet a cat. Go to the Pet Store on Roncesvalle or PetSmart. Anywhere is better than this uncaring, under stocked, overpriced store. read more

We have tried multiple grooming spots in town and for the last year have been using Pet Uno - they have mastered the 'don't make my doodle look like a poodle' clip - thank god for that. As for the store itself - I have to say they are incredibly helpful (quirky - and I now know more about dog food than I could have imagined ever existed to begin with - but lovely to deal with!) - they have a great selection of food, toys and treats, and are very frank with the pros and cons of whatever they offer. Also, they deliver :) should the need arise. Big bonus: we love that it's a local business and not a chain and as far as I can see their prices are very competitive - give them a try if you haven't! read more

This is a quaint little pet supply store located in the heart of Little Italy. I for one welcome them to the neighbourhood and hope they do well as while College St does have a couple of vets offices and some grocery stores to buy the essential animal products, you had to travel as far east as Augusta St to find the closest actual pet products store. The employees have always been pretty friendly and helpful when browsing for things, and while the store itself isn't the biggest and the selection in products may not be as good as the chain pet stores, the prices are competitive and you can usually find some kind of iteration of what you went in there for. We've bought everything from a slew of cat toys to harnesses to dog bones and they even carry gourmet dog treats. I can appreciate that they carry a lot of organic and healthier choice products as well. Since opening, this place has served us well and I'm sure will continue to please. read more

I can't understand where some of the bad reviews are coming from!? I've been bringing my dog for grooming and purchasing products from Pet Uno since they first opened, so maybe 2 or 3 years now? (I don't know, time flies!) But I have never once had bad customer service from any of the staff, especially not from Nadine and Dean, who are there 99% of the time that I'm there. They're pleasant and friendly, and they always recognize who I am when I call to book an appointment. Their prices are very comparable to other pet stores like Global and Pet Valu. Even though their store is relatively small, they still have a great selection of quality products. And if they're out of something, they'll order it for you and you get it within a few days. I agree that the parking can be an issue, but there is a little Green P parking lot just north of the store on Grace St. that I usually park at. But frankly, I haven't had much of an issue with parking just on College St. And to HelloMonke. E: Why would you think that opening a cat cage without asking is acceptable behaviour? It's not your store, it's not your cat, even if you are doing it gently and carefully! read more

I don't agree with with "HelloMonke E." who knocked the lady who works there. She is always friendly, offers to order things in if they don't have them, let me know all about the cat rescue group that has their adoptees in the window. She's an older lady and maybe not in the best of health, so when you ask for something she might point at where it is (the store is tiny, it's not like you're going to get lost), but whenever I've asked for something she's walked over and showed me where it is. She is a lovely lady who loves animals and I look forward to seeing her when I go in. I've been going there frequently since it opened and the debit has been down once when I've been in - not 50% of the time as you have mentioned. AND I HOPE SHE TOLD YOU OFF if you opened up the cage of one of the adoptable cats without asking her. You have no idea what issues that animal has, what it's personality is like, or what mood it's in that day. AND, you should be washing your hands before you touch any adoptable animal as you may be passing viruses on to them, AND if anyone could just open cages without consulting the storekeeper, someone could easily grab an animal and walk out of there with it. You don't sound like someone knowledgeable to give a sound review of a pet supply shop. Maybe stick to Walmart. read more

Had a cut for my cat here. The cut turned out horrible. Although the person doing the trimming was nice, I had to stop him from pulling too hard on my cat's limbs. He did not seem to be gentle either when trying to bath the cat. I actually had to take the cat out of the tub to prevent him from being hurt since he started thrashing around and asked for it to be rubbed by a towel instead. It was an unpleasant experience for us both and my clothes got ruined assisting him. It took an hour of work or more. To be fair, I think my review only applies if you are a first timer. I would not recommend cat trims here if this is the first time for your cat. They don't have the option of sedation for the cat as well. I will definitely be researching sedation before deciding to go ahead with this again at a different place and looking for a better grooming service. This is the second time I've been to the store (I gave it a second chance after my initial bad experience) and unfortunately, it was much of the same thing. The girl working there didn't even acknowledge that I'd entered the store with my dogs. She was on a laptop watching a video that I could hear from the entrance of the store. She didn't pause her video to greet me or ask if I needed any help. I spent a few minutes browsing and picked out a couple different treats for my dog. I brought them to the counter, still with no interaction from the sale's clerk. She paused her video for a second to scan the items and state the price. As I was paying with my card, she went back to her laptop and turned the video on again. As I was waiting for the payment to go through I asked if she had any treats to give my dogs. She waved her hand at a jar behind the till and said I could get them myself. Very very poor customer service. I wasn't asking for much, a simple hello and friendly attitude towards paying customers isn't unreasonable. The only plus from my visit is that my dogs loved their treats, which were things I haven't seen at other stores. Won't be going back though. read more

Great little pet store - only one I shop now; I find the staff to be friendly and very helpful. For the size, they have an extensive variety of pet food, among other products. I buy all of my holistic cat food here, usually "in bulk" as I have 4 cats, and you get a discount if you buy a case of food. If your pet doesn't like the food, there is never any problem returning it (even opened) for a full refund. As a humane society volunteer, I am always happy to find a store that is involved in animal welfare and it's nice to see a small store like this one helping in that way. 5 stars from me for sure! read more

I've always had a great experience when I bring my dog here for grooming. Vivien the groomer seems to really care about the overall well being and health of the dog. When I had a crisis with my dog and he rolled in poo in the middle of my work day, they took him in immediately and cleaned him up. The staff are always very pleasant, helpful and friendly. And the best is they do home delivery services. They offer very high end foods ranging from Raw to higher end kibble as well as any other supplies you might need for your furry loved ones. I have taken my toy poodle here several times for grooming and couldn't be happier. The groomer specializes in poodles and does an amazing job, from teddy bear clips to lamb clips, and everything in between. I highly recommend Pet Uno for grooming, especially if you have a poodle. I have only been in the store a few times, but have always had excellent service with a pleasant attitude. On one occasion I was looking for a particular brush. Although the owner did not have it in stock, they ordered it from Germany where it was manufactured, and followed up as soon as it arrived. I found their prices quite reasonable. If I lived closer I would shop there more often. My neighbour goes out of her way to have her Samoyed groomed at Pet Uno. He looked amazing afterwards. Now that's work! read more
