I was so impressed with the customer service I received at this Petco. First and foremost, I with like to comment on the pet care. I was worried that one of the ferrets didn't have water. James immediately stopped what he was doing and went to check on it. The bottle was completely full, which is why the level couldn't be seen. One of the main reasons I shop at this Petco is the care that the animals receive. Kudos to James! Also, a shout out to Daulys who was very friendly and helpful at the register. Came here to get bird food for my blue gold macaw. Pricing was a little high but that seems to be the way of the world now. Loved the fresh food and great stations for my doggie. Also, lots of fun toys and cute clothes to dress him in to his dismay. Employees were helpful and eager to direct you to the correct area. I would definitely return. read more

Stopped by to pick up an online order I placed last minute and they had it ready in under 10 mins! I went out to my car to leave and my battery died. No one around would stop to help so after some time sitting there I went back into Petco and asked the girl at the register (didn't catch her name) if it was possible someone could jump me. The manager (I believe his name is Tim) was more than happy to help and jumped right in! I was so worried and stressed about how I was going to get home and he came thruuuuu. If could give a zero i would. Got there a little early. Watched the groomer with another dog. It was wimpering. She was aggressive snatching the brush through it's ears. One time the poor Cocker Spaniel was almost pushed off the table. When the other girl came to check me in i told her i did not want the other groomer doing my dog. I was told if i didn't let her NO one woul ever groom my dogs again. I went to the manager and complained. He told me tha he was over them, but he would not make someone else groom my dog. Our beloved dog Duke is aging and at the last vet visit there were some recommendations. Duke needs to take it easy and adjust the eating to a low sodium diet. The vet had some expensive options so I said I would think about it. I decided to check out Petco to get something more reasonably priced. The staff is very friendly and you had the feeling that they really enjoy their jobs. I explained what I was looking for and was directed to the food made by the company BLUE. The food is holistic and the one for the senior dog has joint/immune health protection, antioxidants, fruits and veggies. Sharon was very helpful and shared the labeling is not the same as what is on people food so not so easy to identify low sodium food. So she recommended BLUE for the senior dog because when you are older you are looking for healthier food. Sharon also provided the phone number to the company to ask for the sodium content. She akso pointed out the sodium was at the end of list of ingredients indicating not a high content. I walked around a bit and saw some fish, a baby bearded dragon and sone hallowen costumes. There was a aggressive Pitbull, owners stated in the store aggressive, only English word they spoke.. Advised staff they did nothing. Walking out the Pitbull lunged and I grab a metal pole and stated that if that dog moved one more foot I would hit it in the head. The staff came at me and my Wheaten Terrier, not knowing if the dog was loose quickly walking out I pulled the carts behind me for protection. I am extremely disappointed with the staff specifically the groomer her name is Mia she charged me more because my dog had knots, and she didn't let me know that if I was late they would charge me a fee. she was very rude to me. I was actually there when Cindy Y. was threatening to kill a young pitbull because she tried to play with her Wheaton. It's astonishing how she reacted and screamed at the employees that they're worthless and calling them names and even trying to damage property because she was upset that they didn't kick out a guest with a pitbull when especially when they said she wasn't aggressive. Sure, there was a language barrier but that's no reason to be so rude. The employees were very very sweet and even with her behavior and being screamed at, they were super helpful!!! Andrew the manager has horrible customer service. I worked in retail for nearly 10 years. Tried to return a broken/defective cat toy which somehow cost 20$. Wanted to exchange for something equal or greater value but Andrew says the system won't let him make exchanges on defective products outside of 30 days. Packaging everything intact. I went to Petco to buy my dog some food and I expected to pay for the item but I knew I had to reach the buy 10 get one free promotion. So I asked Ashby if that was the case and she was able to see that I had a $41.00 off coupon but it was unavailable. She informed me that I would have to clip it on the app but the app wasn't working so she told me to call customer service and they would help me. Bottom line, I was able to use the $41.00 off coupon and get a bigger bag intended for my dog! I am very grateful for Ashby going above and beyond her task at work. I went in for a can of dog food and came out with almost $100 worth of things for my fur baby. They had many things on clearance which is my favorite.. ofcourse I didn't need any of it. I purchased a super cute leash and a harness. I ALWAYS go with blue buffalo grain free dog food. It's the best for my havanese. The were plenty of workers and a young girl who helped me was very knowledgeable. She also let me in on that they price match deals online. Which was pretty nice. I also purchased a few squeaky toys for my dog. The store was pretty clean considering I went in 2 hours before closing. Visiting from out of town and Sherry went out of her way to ensure we could keep our grooming appointment and she did her best with my pup. I got text message updates all day and in between steps! Not only is this the cleanest he's been cut in months because of previous trauma with groomers, she was so patient and explained what I could try next. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate groomers who truly care for their Customer's animals as if they were their own. We had the best experience today having the water from our fish tank tested and then being able to be properly informed about what fish to get. Jahaziel was offering my family a variety of options of which fish mesh well and how many would be best suited in our tank. In the process we picked up snails for our turtle tank and he highly recommend real plants, which we purchased as well. He was extremely patient and knowledgeable. read more

Purchased fish from the Apopka location and added to my tank that was set up for 5 months and had no fish losses. With in a week of of the fish died and in the next few days after 4 of the fish I had in the tank died. A few days after some of the new fish were showing white spots (ick). I now have to treat the tank and absorb the cost of the other fish loses. When I contacted the store the General Manager let me know they only guarantee the fish purchased from them and made no offer or discount on future purchases since it is obvious the ick came from them. read more

This Petco just opened in Apopka on the corner of 436 and Wekiva Springs (next to Bed, Bath and Beyond). Although the store is new, the aisles are very narrow. So narrow the store doesn't offer full sized carts but instead these strange half carts. The carts were useless for me when I needed to buy a large dog bed and a large bag of food. It was quite a chore negotiating the aisle so I didn't knock things over! As I browsed around I noticed more than a few dead fish in the lightly stocked tanks. Another strange thing, they actually have a speaker hanging over the fish department playing sounds of bubbling water. I guess to entice shoppers to that area of the store? Bird and small animal cages were clean though. I like Petco if only for the fact that they do not sell dogs or cats but instead offer space for non-profits to adopt out homeless dogs and cats. I still prefer Petsmart, but since this one if closer to home I may shop here more frequently. read more

Today I dropped 2 of my 4 dogs off, Daisy and Radar to get groomed! I must say after my favorite groomer was terminated I was very hesitant to come back to Petco Apopka, I'm very particular about whom I leave my dogs in the hands of because well... they're a little much! However I was SO SO SO pleased today!! Sherry we A1!!! I can tell she really enjoys her job! When we returned to pick the dogs up she was very thorough in the report when we got back! I love this location. Everyone is so helpful. I went in, in recent history to get some new food for my kitty Oscar. Apparently he was having some kind of food allergy and the vet just wanted us to pay for outrageously priced food and it wasn't helping. After asking a staff member, who didn't know, she actually got me someone who was more knowledgeable! AMAZING!!!! Not only did I end up leaving with new food, but so much knowledge (which I checked later and was TOTALLY accurate!!!) While the Vet was convinced that Oscar is allergic to chicken or fish (and wanted him on a duck or venison based food $$$) the woman who helped me told me that many cats are allergic to the fillers... corn. (After I thought about it, I have never seen a cat eat corn on his own). I ended up with a dry food (since that is about all he will eat, weird kitty) that is all protein. Oscar's irritation went away almost immediately. After MONTHS of doing what the vet told us and NOTHING helping, finally we had something that worked. Our other kitty Penny, likes the food too. Both cats have a shiny coat, and are very healthy. I am very happy with the information I got here. It isn't just the one visit either. The people that work at this location are just plain nice. This location is the worst. I have never had such a horrible interaction in my life. I've never been spoken to and treated so unprofessionally & with such complete void of empathy. Sam, the location manager, will refuse you service simply to enjoy a power trip and make your innocent pet suffer in the process. My fur baby has allergies and needed a bath badly. While reading the agreement, signing it, holding my dog, and expressing that Apopka was actually her home location for FIVE years, Sam proceeded to snatch the paper and tear it up; refusing service. I was shocked. Do not vent or express frustrations as a long term client. She doesn't care. My frustrations lie in a price raise of $20 for seemingly less expert groomers coming in and longtime ones being terminated or resigning. As soon as my dog gets attached to a groomer they leave Petco. I was hopeful being back on my "home" side of town that Apopka would do a good job and be at least worth the price increase. Before, I had never had a problem at Apopka. This year of 2020 has been horrible for many of us. My husband and I both just lost our grandfathers and my grandmother is in assisted living with asthma as one of her health problems. This grooming apt was essential for our Christmas. Not only did my dog need it for her own well being, my grandmother who is just now able to come out of her facility will be impacted by Sam's decision today. The store manager was a bit more professional but hugely disappointed and proved worthless when not bringing us to a compromise. I drove 45 min passed another location to specifically go to Apopka. I got there 5 minutes before agreed upon cut off time and, again, have never been spoken to or witnessed such arrogant, uncaring behavior nor have I ever been refused service. Which really was my pet being refused needed care. In the end, I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving any pet / animal with this location. If they find pleasure in wrecking families' holidays and not just listening to human, 2020 frustrations and losses...how would they treat our four-legged babies behind closed doors. Appalling and wrong. As not just a manager but a leader, having worked for a competitor of theirs for a good length of time, this team member should be demoted in the least. Leadership qualities you do not possess. It isn't about bucking up and acting holier than thou. It's listening to your clients, empathizing, compromising, and exceeding expectations with excellence in service. Seeing as how my frustrations weren't even with you (until you had an attitude w/ me), what triggered you so much? What were so uncomfortable or concerned about? I was signing. I was hearing you out. There was every intention of communicating & partnering for the overall comfort and wellbeing of my dog. Maybe you're going through something. Maybe you don't like people. I went into the store because I found a kitten and the manager Justin helped me find the right food and needs the little guy needed. I've never owned a kitten before and he explained its care requirements. Me and kitten are extremely grateful to Justin for all his help and advice. I took my Teddybear Goldendoodle in for a cut. The groomer said she cuts many Goldendoodles. I specifically asked for scissor trim only and no shaving. The dog's face was shaved. The cut around the face is uneven. He no longer looks like a teddybear. read more

The grooming service there is abysmal. They dont listen to directions and just wasted my time and money. I specifically said to trim and shape up the backend of my dog and it looked as if they didn't even touch it. Not to mention the overall quality of the cut was just pathetic. I go here all the time. Every one is totally Awsome. Except for one employee in the grooming part. Young girl. Took my boxer mix in to have nails cut. Done it befour no problem. But this time was different. She corner my dog and yank at her legs and yelling at her. As I was watching her threw glass. I know my dog don't like nails cut. She then came over and said she was growling at her. But proceeded to try again where she pulled her legs hard and yelling at her. I started to enter and tell her to stop and never mind. But my dog nail her ass and she came over to me and told me with a mad face and said never come back to this store again. I go there all the time but will never bring any of my dogs to the grooming place again. You know all pets are different some like it and some don't. If you can't handled animals. Don't be a dam groomer. Have not seen her since. I told manager and wrote to corporate also. With no answer I'm glad she got bite. Learn how to treat an animal. read more

I have my dog groomed at this location for several months, my groomer is always friendly, and attentive to my dog. He always come home clean and well groomed, I have never been unhappy with any grooms that Lori has done, she is always consistent with my dog and his grooming. The store is also great, it is clean and the personel are friendly and knowledgable. I highly recommend this store. read more

Every time I come here they are out of inventory and have no idea when they get more. I've been searching for a mouse for a week now and they still don't have any, no one has any idea when they show up. So I tried to get a flea killer for my dog, they are out of that too and have been for weeks and once again, no one had any idea when they'd get more. Seems like management isn't on the ball. When the shelf is almost empty, don't managers order more?? I can understand now and then, but I've been coming here forever and now it's all the time, for months, they are always out of everything, especially rodents. read more

I Will NEVER recommend this store to anyone. The employees have terrible attitudes. I recently bought a ferret. A week later I was ready to return the ferret due to the fact that I work early in the morning and hes in his cage for hours, Also I cant handle how crazy he is constantly getting in back of my fridge and under my oven. I've never had such a crazy experience with an animal being that all of my animals were easy to train. I called and asked what I would need to return the ferret. A man answered and the first question he asked with attitude " Why exactly do you want to return the ferret" I explained the situation and he responds with " Why would you get the ferret in the first place?" I continued to then explain that my roommate decided he wanted to get a dog this week and I don't think I don't know how that would work out. He replies " Why would you get the ferret knowing you are gonna get a dog" I told him " Its my roommates decision he didn't even tell me he was getting a dog until a week after I got the ferret" He replies " I don't think ill ever sell you anything from here again, I'm still trying to understand why you would get a ferret" Its like he was so offended or upset over me asking a simple question. Employees there need to keep their feelings and attitude to themselves and DO THEIR JOB. Also the lady that sold me the ferret seemed like she hated her job. Theres always a problem with the employees when I go there. I will be calling corporate for this employees disgusting attitude with me. read more
